In my limited experience, dentists are rubbish with those numbing injections, because they don't really wait for them to take effect. I can't remember how many times they did it to me, but I suspect they could have saved themelves the trouble and me the pain of the repetitions, and my mouth would still have gone numb at the same time if they'd just waited.
