  • I drive every day over 50km to my job. And i do it on the Autobahn A4 in my Audi and on summer i always driving between 200 km/h and 250 km/h. And believe me, im not the only one :)

I do that for 4 years now and have no problems with accidents. The only thing you must do: Have always open eyes on trucks.

  • that Rita Wilson is one luck woman!

  • Tom I think you have had too much cough medicine. you are hilarious and I love you.

  • @DJaysParadise ... i hope you're talking about euros cause bucks are usually dollars as far as i know. so when you take the current exchange rates you'll get this: 2000$ =1500€ ... well when you are german (like me) you're probably living far away from a bigger city cause everyone knows it is much more expensive to get the license in a city. at least in most german cities.

BTW: when you want to go really fast you should go to the highway A7 in south germany at night.

  • I hate Eisenhüttenstadt.. I'm living here and there's nothing to do..

But we have 50 % colorful houses!!! ;D (search for it at google images)

Shame that I didn't see him soooo close to me :((

    I like him :)

  • @MultiFantasyFreak

Dude, then leave it. No one will miss you.

  • I just adore him! He deserves everything he has and even more!!!!!

  • Mercedes-Benz, BMW, AUDI, Porsche are also german cars....

  • Actually, Eisenhüttenstadt means Iron Smelting Town (It's true, "Hütte" means "hut", but here it's used in the sense of "verhütten" meaning smelting, maybe as a result of furnace being hut like structures at the time and certain economic-geographical circumstances)

  • Tom is a bit loud arrogant and obnoxious these days, what ever happened to the good old humble Hanks everyone knew.

  • man this tom hanks dosn t shut is fucking mouth for one second...

  • 130 km/h is only about 75 mph.

sad that this old fat actor finds that fast.

  • Tom is manic

  • First things first: There are speed limits on most parts of the german highway ("Autobahn") and the areas where you are allowed to drive as fast as you can are very safe. Most people in Germany do not drive as fast as mentioned. I use these highways every day of my life (cuz im german ;)) and ive never had any problems. The blue sign in the vid marks the beginning of an area where usually small cildren use the street to play, so other ppl are asked for their appreciation and drive only 1.9 mph!

  • I like this guy.

  • The sign means that you must drive at the speed not faster of the speed of a walking pedestrian.

  • Watch this if you are american and have no clue what he means exactly....watch?v=0987x5PzIEk&feature=related

  • he's wearing the same cravat lilke on june 28th 2011 on the letterman show

  • boring !!!!!!!! An never mind feeling the public with more shit about how bad socialism is . just maybe tell the country what capitalism has done to the us

  • relict of nonsense?!! Germany has the most modern system of roads in the world.

  • happy about 130/140 km/h ?????

you can´t park on an autobahn in germany! :P try 240 km/h and you will experience REAL speed in a car! ;)

  • Just me or was that a boring story

  • The blue sign means that it's a traffic-calmed street where children are allowed to play, so drivers have to be careful. It's actually a West-German sign that was probably hung up there after re-unification. The "3,2m" sign is a height limit for cars passing through that gate.

And 17 minutes from Dresden to Berlin, that'd be about about 700km/h, or 430mph! :P

  • Comment removed

  • man they drive way faster...up to 200 kmh

  • @plasticboy81 sure, I think he wanted to say 120/130 mph

  • there all volkswagen?

not really...but pretty they are pretty many of them.

also many bmw, mercedes , audi...and sure other foreign europe cars.

  • hope he means miles. otherwise its pretty lame or the autobahn.

its the minimum speed i would say.

  • driving 120 km/h is really lame...when it´s 180 km/h I´m fine ;)

  • to all of you Americans: the german autobahn is actually the best highway system worldwide cause you are really free. without any speed limit on most highways you can travel exactly the speed you want to. but it isn't just sitting in a car and start driving. germans have to pass REAL driving license tests. it's not just sitting in an automatic car and going on a straight line as in the USA. it takes an average guy like 3 or 4 months to get the license and you have to pay about 2000 bucks for it.

  • @pologolf91 well i spent 1200 bucks on my driving license so congratulations dude :D

  • @pologolf91 Well, you could if you won't stuck in a traffic jam ...

Actually german autobahns are a relict of nonsense. Driving in other countries with speed limit (still quite fast) is much more relaxing and safer.

  • @pologolf91 +1 true

  • @pologolf91 That's what you dream of. Most of the highways here have a speedlimit. There are just a few areas where you are aloud to drive without a limit. At least in the northwestern part where i live.

  • @pologolf91 german highways are kick ass man there is no better plays oin earth for you and your car

  • @pologolf91 damn that sucks

  • @pologolf91

thats not true. Almost everywhere there is a speed limit of 130 km/h on highways in Germany.

  • @rize1337 That's not a limit. It's more like a speed guideline. If you drive faster than 130 km/h you drive on your own risk. It's just way more dangerous and your insurance will not cover any costs you "produce" if you happen to have an accident.

  • Haha, super lustig :D

  • Watch /watch?v=TMFyTb_oJ8Q to know what Tom Hanks means in 10:26 :D

  • @Maatouk84 That`s what it sounds like....but it`s really dangerous to go that slow on the autobahn. You should be driving at least 130 to avoid causing traffic jams...

  • Eisenhüttenstadt ist der Ort wo Gott die Erde Küsste !!!!

  • damn he has so much knowledge

  • Sorry Tom but I drive 130 km/h with my SMART Car :P not that fast at all

  • berlin is about 200 km (122 miles) away from dresden and the shortest it took me was around 1 hour and 10 minutes. i remember that we drove around 210 km/h most of the time. but you have to slow down from time to time, and that's also the problem with when you go even faster than 210 km/h, like 250 or what your car can carry out.. and i think we drove in a skoda octavia combi or so. in which Hanks is right, it belongs to the VW group too, now ;DD

  • if you think 140 oder 150 km/h is fast, try 240 and more ;) THEN your face looks like you've just had a face lifting :D

  • Aber natürlich der von VW oder BMW ;)

  • by the way

the California runs up to 200 km/h

  • Dresden-Berlin in 17 Min. OMG

    Thats Fast ^^ nearly 670 km/h

    grüße von der deutschen Autobahn

  • @modellbauvideos

der ist bestimmt mit einem eurofighter geflogen... ;)

  • 120 km/h is fast... hahahaha :D greetings from Germany!

  • It's like going through someone's facebook photos! lol

  • He's a shill.

  • 120kmh is moseying! lol...

  • Anybody here who understood what Tom said, when he imitated the navi voice?

btw: @deviceslashnull: It's not step speed, it's called walking speed. ;o)

  • 120 km/h is not fast -.-

  • @housekitty260 he means 120/130 miles!

  • @tsdf2: The blue sign has nothing to do with passengers.

Blue sign: area of calmed traffic - drivers go step speed (7 km/h = 4.3mph max), pedestrians allowed to walk and play on street.

Red sign: maximum height of vehicles passing 3.2 m (10,5 feet)

  • Great dude!

  • Eisenhuttenstadt... Gesundheit!!! ;)

  • Ahhh die gute alte Autobahn.. =)

  • tom hanks <3

  • Tom Hanks talked about the "Autobahn" and that there are no speed limits in Germany. But most cars in Germany are unfortunately limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph), so that theoretical at this level is the top speed on German highways. Unless you have a sports car.

  • Paul van Dyk Town

  • Last year i made Holiday in States and i saw the trailerparks in southern San Diego and i honestly can say i'd prefer to live in the socialist Eisenhüttenstadt then the capatilist trailer parks. Where ur Asses get shot for look in the wrong direction! I never saw so many Bumps in my Life.Sorry! A society is like a chain and it is only that strong as the weakest link is!

So livin here in a socialist country with an unemployment rate of 6 % .

  • Eisenhüttenstadt... been there a few times at the fire fighting academy of Brandenburg state. Everyone in class made fun of the city: "Well... Eisenhüttenstadt. There's the academy... and nothing. A lot of nothing. And a supermarket."

  • Tom Hanks is boss

  • hes talking just bullshit about germany!

  • @daniela3210 He said he loves the place. And if your isolated during filming (speak time pressure) like he is, you only pick up bits and pieces and have to make up the rest on your own. He did in a funny way, that's okay. And sometimes it's true (like: everything there is volkswagen even if it's ford)

  • @daniela3210

man sollte auch n bissel spaß verstehen... wenn alle so humorlos wären bei uns in deutschland, dann seh ich ziemlich schwarz...

  • Rechtsfahrgebot uber alles

  • dave will u just stfu and let tom speak? tom is much more interesting

  • 130km/h (81 mph) is the advisory speed limit. :D u should drive at least 130 so that u dont disturb the flow. hanks is right. if you drive too slow the police might stop u because they might think theres something wrong with u :D

  • oh man wer kennt denn nicht das schild verkehrsberuhigter bereichen bzw. spielstraße XD

dogs not allowed? der war gut, obwohl man ja sagen muss, dass man das wirklich schlecht interpretieren kann ^^

  • not if I care. But they talking so much bullshit. Half of the things Tom Hanks tells are made up. Even the german sentence ist just gibberish and not real german.

  • @fips001 He wasn't trying to be serious about it. He was making jokes the whole time, I thought they were funny.

  • @Arthurk535

I didn't thought so. I don't have a problem with it if he's making fun of germans or germany, but I couldn't find any of it funny except the one with the autobahn. For me it seemed like he wasn't sophisticated enough to look carefully enough to find really funny things about germany and instead made up some poor jokes. Maybe I was a little bit disappointed in Tom Hanks, because I really liked some of his films, but now he seems to me like a blatherer.

  • we love you Tom !! Come back soon to our home ! You're everytime welcome !

  • Proud to be born in Eisenhüttenstadt -> Complex Nr. 4 !!! :-)

  • Eisenhüttenstadt!!!!

  • Wuuuuu...I just finished my apprenticeship there in October 2011 ^^..... Why haven't you meet up with us Tom!!!

  • I am from Eisenhüttenstadt! :D

  • a bit of a pity, that Tom didn't show some of the nice reconstructed parts - with paint on the walls... Next to that Eisenhüttenstadt is a place. where my heart is burning. It's just a declining city. That to say that about your place of birth...

  • Haha.. brilliant. I am from there too. But vietnamese socks at springtime only? Not true! There was another sale in late autumn! :D

  • ich stinke nicht u hunger hab ich auch nicht, eisenhüttenstadt ist meine heimat u ich finds toll da.

  • @steffi190384 ...Warum so ernst? Sei doch stolz!

  • i life in eisenhüttenstadt.. year

  • Eisenhüttenstadt!!! my homecity :D

  • thx wiki , eisenhüttenstadt , originally was first started in 1251, in 1953 like he told it was just renamed into stalinstadt may 7th 1953 , in honor of the death of stalin !

  • @knight0582 actually this is wrong. in 1251 a small city named Fürstenberg/Oder was founded, but this has nothing to do with Eisenhüttenstadt. Fürstenberg was suburbanised by Eisenhüttenstadt in the 60´s. Eisenhüttenstadt is really founded in the 50é. Believe me, I was born in this pale, grey city ;)

  • @delong1220 it's not pale and grey!!!! it's home! ;o)

  • @14:24

The traffic signs are actually modern ones. They are only in use in public areas/public streets. The blue sign means that you have to be careful for passengers on the street. The red circle with 3.2m means that the tunnel is 3.2m high.

  • @tsdf2 it is a regular sign in germany and means somewhat like calm down traffic area, cars are not supposed to drive faster than a pedestrian can walk

  • Comment removed

  • @tsdf2 Furthermore, the speed limit is <= 10kph in this area, because kids etc. could be playing on the street etc.

  • @xxxNasxxx99 you're ... entitled to your opinion

  • that sign means "family residence area", you can only drive about 10 mph in those areas

  • @edesge wrong !!! in germany its walkin speed = 7km/h = 4.35 mph , in switzerland its often 20 km/h

  • lol once again back to autobahn i remember my autobahn lesson when making my drivers license i drove 190 km/h on the left lane with a diesel volkswagen golf IV , germany autobahn rocks , i couldnt imagine to live somewhere else with those strict speed limits

  • "you just convert it as best u can " haha --> 1 mile = 1.61 km

  • haha now away from the autobahn , its pretty amazing that he went to eisenhüttenstadt , not really a usual tourist spot , but very interesting !

  • thanks for upload

  • Hahaha. One of these colourful blurs must have been my uncle - over 200km/h while chatting to my grandma on the speaker phone. Talk about responisble driving...

  • 9:46

In fact, the California goes 200 km/h (125 mph) with the 2 liter TSI engine.

    13:45

That sign means "Verkehrsberuhigter Bereich" (living street). You have to go very slow and watch out for kids playing on the street etc.

  • @criscros7 yep " verkehrsberuhigter bereich " is true but its also known as "spielstraße" like i explained in my earlier comment

  • autobahn classic is when u drive middle lane with a quite normal powered car maybe 160 km/h --> 100 mph , and then one or some more supersport motorbikes pass u with close to 200 mph in topspeed mode :P

  • in the end the sign is for "spielstraße" which means kinda "playstreet " its pretty much always a street which leads thru a quiet living street / area , topspeed allowed there in germany is walking-speed which is around 7km/h --> 4.35 mph

  • damn im so bored , but i l always like the tom hanks interviews at letterman and just givin out some info :P

  • lol get a bugatti veyron and go 400 km/h --> 248.5 mph !!! its in fact go as fast as ur vehicle can go , long live german autobahn :D
