I don't understand why this is at all risky. He is riding an 800. In my hometown every summer we race sleds on the water. My uncle took a 440 Scorpion across; his ski's starting on waters edge. Amazing riding but on his MXZ 500 he just gives it gas and across he goes. Even brand new sleds that sink because of human error (pulling out tether) are up and running in the pits an hour or two later.
considering its a flowing river and prolly wont ever freeze all the way. And you have been sucked into the global warming hype just like everybody else i see...its a joke for the government to make money
@TheTRJG untill the belt breaks like they do every 500 miles lol i have the identicle sled love it to death the torque is just more strain than the belts can bear
@dooinithard but if you know if your belt is on it's way out or worn abit you should be smart enough not to skip it for a fair distance, don't cha say? And i'd be more worried having the belt get wet then breaking.
@TheTRJG wet aint muchof an issue when the front end is hanging in the air and the belts on these sleds dont have a wear factor the deflection is fine on them the kevlar cords just give up because th 800r is such a turque monster they rip into chunks after about 500 miles but you will always have the chance of that renegade belt that decides to give up at 200 instead of 500 not that im worried thats what insurance is for but that shure would make for a cold bad day for anyone knock on wood
@dooinithard but i was talking bout any sled in general, not just the 800r. And i guess my uncle is doing pretty good with his new 800r etec, he's got over 700miles on the orginal belt so now it's probably a ticking time bomb. Also his 800 tops out at 117 so far, well by speedometer so not quit accurate but it has tons of tourque like you said, it walks all over an arcticcat z1 and an older apex
@TheTRJG fuck yeah they are animals skidoo has since done some reconfig to the clutches and belt since i bought my 09 so the fact of 700 miles does not suprise me gates makes a belt for them that they claim to be indestructible but who knows and yeah id be a little concerned with a sled wetting the belt in general on the water but thats part of having a set and just doing it lol its literally sink or swim mine tops out at 117 also and id never trade it but i hate $100 belts but pay to play
@dooinithard correction, his sled has 2100 on it now with orginal belt, and man you areso correct "pay to play" like just tonight i bought an $18.00 head light for my sled and it fucking blew in 15 seconds with the sled just at an idle not being revved or anything, god theres 20 bucks outta my pocket. >:(
@TheTRJG wow that is impresive by any means for any belt and you may wanna check your stator thats a sign of it over charging if the headlight blows just tryin to keep that pay to factor play down keep er shiny side up
@dooinithard well actually i just bought a brand new voltage regulator cause it was blowin them and that didn't seem to work, but i read online with other people having the same problem and were said that the voltage regulator isn't getting a good enough ground so i'm going to fix that.
@dooinithard fuck yeah they are animals skidoo has since done some reconfig to the clutches and belt since i bought my 09 so the fact of 700 miles does not suprise me gates makes a belt for them that they claim to be indestructible but who knows and yeah id be a little concerned with a sled wetting the belt in general on the water but thats part of having a set and just doing it lol its literally sink or swim mine tops out at 117 also and id never trade it but i hate $100 belts but pay to play
thats not a hole in the ice, it's where the ice split and then one part went under the other, called an ice heave, it's still deep though, about as deep as the ice is thick
wow. thats pre much the fakest thing ive ever seen.. nice try tho. thats deff not open water. just water above the ice. theres know way u could pull the skis up like that on open water. ur ass end would just sink down. but i do agree wit the sled it is pre much the sickest one on the market rite now! so fuck all u yamaha and cat riders. go skidoo and polaris!
cats are the best sleds there are I think because I have all cat snowmobiles and 4-wheelers because my uncle is a arctic cat dealer with his own shop so i kind of have to ride cat plus it is all very cheap.
i dont know if its the mad torque the xp's have or the virtually weightless front end that allows them to lift skis so easily. put a can on that beast
i have got a 550f and i never go wide open, only iff im hitting a long chanel, but iff im goign to hit a little place i only go about 1/4-1/2 throtel!
No, u dont it depends what kind of sled you are driving.Like if your driving a 550fan you would have to go wide open but if your driving a Polaris xlt 600 you can go like 5 km/h to do the whole thing.
How slow can you actually go with that snowmobile on water? Seemed pretty slow, like it was floating by it self, not the speed:S sick.. i dont get it..
man at one part in the vid it looks like you can pretty much just cross that water going like half a mile an hour. is it even deep enough to be considered skipping?
