  • I'd say one has to have a ton of voice and breath control to sing this song.....even years later, Sue Raney makes it a pleasure and Dreamy to listen to......

  • This lady has a beautiful voice. Unfortunate that she never received the level of recognition to which she is surely entitled. Lovely timbre, range, and control. A delight.

  • Who's the goof ball that doesn't like Sue Rainey?

  • Just saw Judy Roberts this evening at Marriot Newport Beach and she played Dreamsville. Judy, a pianist/keyboard player/Jazz artist said that she dare not sing "Dreamsville" with Sue Raney in the audience. Judy told the audience to go on YOUTUBE and listen to Sue singing this song. So here I am. Sue, Carmen it was great sharing your table tonight. Judy, you rock!

  • A great arrangement of Dreamsville.... Sue Raney is Superb!

  • This Lady had a great song from the movie Back Roads with Sally Fields. Really a great song for her voice.

  • @SuperFallingleaves

That is a TOUGH song to sing.

  • @guygrand2 Tough to play on guitar as well. Check out original guitar intro on Mancini version w/ Lola Albright...

  • What a voice!

  • Terrific composition!! I haven't heard this rendition.....outstanding!!

  • Is that Tony Ortega on Alto Sax?

  • @peppersax sorry buddy, that's Ronnie Lang on alto sax

  • @imthebrother Wasn't sure, thanks!

  • Singing Masterclass!

  • Great singer, arrangement and smooth solo by alto saxophonist Ronnie Lang .

  • I love the whole thing, especially the ending! The person who went, "whoo" at the end totally said what was on my mind. <3

  • Beautiful, At around 1:36 to 1:39, where she sings dream, I definitely hear the influence. Divine.

  • Heavenly!!! This is real music!!! Ditto to posts by those who praise this magnificent singer and the alto player, as well as the great Henry Mancini!!!

  • love her voice!

  • Everytime I hear this by Sue Rainey I just Hank Mancini is smiling !

  • Doesn't it make you sick that cRAP and HIP-HOP have screwed up the gene pool of music? Henry Mancini and Snoop Dawg! Now there's an oxymoron for you!

  • A divine song, introduced by Lola Albright in a memorable album orchestrated and conducted by Mancini. Sue Ray does beautifully by it, a singer's singer with impeccable credentials, the best.

  • Music for dreaming. Beautiful.

  • No words can describe how wonderful she is !!!!

  • OH YEAH! VERY, VERY, VERY NICE!

  • SUE RANEY- a singer's singer- she out-sings a whole lot of the others more well known.... the control and phrasing are divine... cool Alto solo...Ronnie Lang?SUE RANEY- a singer's singer- she out-sings a whole lot of the others more well known.... the control and phrasing are divine... cool Alto solo...Ronnie Lang?

  • IT just does not get any better than this.Great song, great arrangement and my favorite singer.

  • True

  • I first heard her sing in some movie, I had to wait for the credits to see who it was, never heard of her before or much since, which is too bad because her voice is angelic

  • Superb. First time I`ve seen her. Heard her on a CD last year singing Summer Wishes. Came on youtube to look for her, and wow, here she is, great singer. Thank you for putting her on here.

  • Credit to lyricists Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. This was originally an instrumental song from Mancini's "Peter Gunn" album with John Williams on piano. A love song for hipsters. This TV series was a turning point in Mancini's career, the first time that he teamed with Blake Edwards.

  • @sitarnut That is Ronnie Lang. An incredible and very unsung soloist. Great to hear /see him here!

  • Beautiful Mancini song performed exquisitely by Sue Raney and superbly arranged.

Thankyou so much for posting this video ( I didn't need to see the lyrics - I know them off by heart ) .

  • her range is amazing!

  • A splendid performance. I remember on

this program Mancini did a big band

montage playing the theme songs of

    Shaw, Goodman, Kenton, Ellington, etc.

    Can you upload that performance?

  • Music!!!

  • Sue Raney and Hank Mancini a perfect combination,WOW!

  • THEEEEE GREATEST! LOVE YOU, SUE!

  • This song is blues at it's best and even better when Sue Raine adds that great voice.Raine/Mancine jazz at it's best.

  • My sister was one of her students for years. Sue and Carmen (her husband) remain close family friends to this day. They are two of the most down to earth/genuine people you could ever be so fortunate to know.

Sue still sings and every concert I've been fortunate to attend has been sold out. She is truly one of a kind.

  • Great video. I'm a fan for more than 10 years.

Her "Suicide is painless" is to me one of the best jazz vocal in history!! I wish she come to Japan!

  • A most underrated singer.

  • @pap4456

... never to those of us that knew about her... never underrated.. always esteemed & appreciated! \O/

  • now this is music

  • Whose that solo sax player? Not only handsome but what a sound.

  • got a big nose tho.... but you know what they say about men with big noses...? they make good sax players... :)

  • Either Ted Nash or Ronnie Lang?

  • Ronny Lang. Not Ted Nash!

  • We were fortunate to have Sue Raney at the Four Freshmen International Convention in 2006. I have been a real fan of hers ever since. Wonderfull job!!!

  • Can this video be purchased anywhere? Sue Raney is my favorite singer and any crumb which sees the light of day is a treasure.

  • Sue Raney doing Mancini's "Dreamsville".

A perfect combination of song and artist. Saw her in '07 and she sounds as great as ever!

  • Dreamsville and Mancini, Great.

Sue Raney, the greatest interpretation ever, that's ever, as in none better.

  • I'm a fan! I love this song and this is the nicest version I have heard yet.
