  • GREAT SHOW .WOW THE CINEMA SNOB'S THEME

  • @0:13 & 0:36, look at the emblem on his superhero outfit. anyone having a passing acquaintance with basic mandarin recognizes that as the ideograph for "zhong," as in the mandarin word "zhongguo," meaning "china." is it possible that the craft we see from 0:01-0:11 is actually a top secret chinese air force experiment? as well as the suit?

  • I've been curious about what the heck Homestar was dressed as in that one Holiday Toon... now not only do I know, but I understand what the heck he was singing about at the end when I clicked on him. Heh...

  • The walkway/bridge that the hero and his girlfriend were on looked alot like the bridge/walkway that was on the start of Star Trek : Deep Space Nine. (and yes, I'm embarrased (sp) that I know that)

  • Seriously, you couldn’t afford more pixels?

  • The Cinema Snob made me come here :)

  • R.I.P. Robert Culp

  • Believe it or not I'm not home

  • "Please leave a messaaaaagee at the beep."

  • I remember, here in Argentina, we had this show on friday night. Monday: Tales of the Gold Monkey, tuesday: Knight Rider, Wednesday: Dukes of Hazzard, Thursday: Voyagers, and Fridays: Greatest American Hero...

  • i used to follow the series of this when i was young and our tv is black and white

  • I used to watch this as a kid, then Seinfeld and Family Guy brought me back.

  • This is so 80's it hurts

  • I can't get Georges answer message out of my head!

  • Never realized how different Robert Culp looked in 30 years ago.

I liked him as grandpa in Santa's Slay. He was really funny.

    RIP ):

  • Believe it or not, George isn't at home

  • I loved this show, and this song is one of the most uplifting i've ever heard. great stuff.

  • They changed the main character's last name due to the fact someone with the same last name tried to shoot Reagan when this was being shown.

  • Cinema Snob!!!

  • # I loved this intro as kid! #Realtalk

  • believe it or not..and believe it we did!..dont make childhoods like that anymore..lol,more is the pity

  • George Constanza sent me here

  • Michael Moore brought me here

  • Damn, all these years later and Connie Sellecca still does things to me. Great memories. I think I will be the GAH for Halloween next year.

  • ..how did he lose the intruction manuel...COMEON MAN....

  • i wander they dont make it into a big movie...?

  • [steinbrenner]Connie Sellecca...nothing wrong with that![/steinbrenner]

  • This is a fantastic memory for me, i used to dream about having the suit as a kid, really good and special memories....i want the series..:-)

  • Omg...wow I remember watching this as a kid....dam I missed the 80's ..best sit-coms, movies,nd cartoons handz down.!! Thx for the post

  • This brings back memories! I loved this show. does anyone remember if he ever found that stupid handbook? LOL

  • @skywize The aliens gave him another one once...he lost it again, lol.

  • @skywize He shrank himself while holding it and left it on a grain of sand and lost it after going back to normal size.. (I don't recall whether that was the first one or the second one.)

  • @tieran2009 That was the second one. After that he tried asking for a third one in the Greatest American Heroine pilot but I guess the aliens learned their lesson, lol.

  • @tieran2009 it was the second one he lost. he lost the first one when he got the suite

  • The best thing about being 35-40 is being old enough to remember and recognize the greatness and singularity of television in the 80's, yet young enough to appreciate the irony as its coolness is discovered on Youtube. If you're reading this, and you're 20......well......you missed it. Enjoy 2 and a Half Men, suckas!

  • @plenchful Thankfully there are DVDs today. ;)

  • Cinema Snob ^-^

  • why did dubstep link me to this???

  • Shades of the opening to LA Law (for obvious reasons) in the opening chords.

  • warm & fuzzy

  • TV really was better back then.

  • Was anyone else sent here from that quiz? thumbs? :D

  • R.I.P. Robert Culp

  • Yes.

  • this intro just does not fit the title of the series at all.

  • @Salieri21 Sure it does.....have you even watched the show? Considering it came out before you were born I'd doubt you've watched it.

  • Wow I remember this

  • I can honestly say that i never watched a single episode of this back then....but i always liked the song.

  • your in the green guys hands now uncle bill .....miss you robert culp

  • Cinema Snob!!!

  • @smallswordduelest This is his theme as well.

  • HA! I remember this show! I loved it!

  • Brings back memories

  • If Mike Post is still alive, I'd like to shake his hand. He wrote not only this theme, but the theme for the A-Team (for which he's probably best known).

  • So thats where the Robot Chicken skit came from :D

  • @SuperFuzzyKitten That's where all the Robot Chicken skits come from... OLD SHOWS! LOL!

  • LOL!! William Katt's hair reminded me of Aquaman's do back in the day, LOL!!

  • BRAD JONES

  • 'I'm the Greatest American Hero...and DON'T EVER LET ME CATCH YOU GUYS IN NEW YORK...'

Kidding; just making a joke; Stewie said 'Quahog', and Mike Post wrote the theme to 'Law and Order', I think

  • @chip64c: Mr. Post has done all three L&O shows.

  • I MUST BE OUT OR I'D PICK UP THE PHONE

  • i would always sing this song when regular music gets boring... and yes i know it verbatim....

  • my top 3 favorite theme songs-

    1. Batman: the Animated Series

    2. Pokemon

    3. Greatest American Hero

  • I had never heard of this show before a few weeks ago when Syfy had an all day marathon and my mother put it on. I now love this series so much! Great idea for a series. The superhero doesn't fight super villains, just normal bad guys.

  • I woke up with this song maddeningly stuck my head.... I had never heard of this show before and don't remember havng heard the theme song before... had to see what it was from.

  • Comment removed

  • this song was parodied in a SEINFELD episode, it was George´s answering machine.

  • I watched to many episodes of this and shows like this to let the bad guys win. Believe it or not i'm walking on air never thought I could feel so free , out on a limb a wing and a prayer who could it be believe it or not it's just me.

  • family guy killed this song

  • @DJDREXTV They did, didn't they.

  • Connie sellica......OMG!!

  • @serberious My fiance is 30 (I'm 38), and I told her that she looks like a young Connie Selleca when she has her hair tied up, as she does in this intro! This was a little before her time, but I convinced her that was a compliment!

  • What Happened to the Awesome 2 Minute Theme Song that Set the Mood?

  • my answering machine had the theme song on it

  • best. fucking.quality.

  • It was shown in the UK. Fact.

  • Robert culp is the man

  • I live in the UK where this show was never shown, I have never seen it and yet, somehow, this song has found me and got into my head.

  • @Gmackematix Yes it was on in the UK, I remember this sadly as I'm a 70's child and this was out in the 80's. Just looking at the credits brings back memories Cannell, Lupo, Post and Carpenter are some very famous names of that era for the likes of such programmes like The A-Team. Heck Cannell was the guy on the typewriter with the pipe at the end lol

  • RIP Stephen J Cannell,never forget the tv shows you've,made The A-Team,Hunter

The Greastest American Hero,Silk Stalkings just to name a few, back then tv shows intro themes really told an idea of the program everyone was watching at the time.

Thanks for posting it bring back memories.I enjoyed watching this with my Grandfather even now at 39 I'll never forget that song ever.

  • The 'greatest american hero' has a nice communist china-themed suit going on there.

  • This show was worth watching just to view the gorgeous Connie Sellecca:-)

  • 74 people need a hero :(

  • this song and show was so very fudgin' awesome! i wanna play this song when i make poopies!

  • hahaha man my dad made me watch this with him! he got so excited when he found the DVDs for it haha

  • DAMN SONG LEAVE MY BRAIN

  • theres a world record on record setter for Most Games of TicTacToe Played Against Self While Listening To 'The Greatest American Hero" Theme Song. i tried it. its hard

  • believe it or not George isn't at home so please leave a message after the beep

  • Greatest opening ever! Greatest TV show! Greatest American Hero!

  • I must be out or I'd pick up the phone

  • believe it or not george isn't at home

  • I dont wanna hear that...i may be only 13 but this song and show was one of the best shows of the 1900's so to say it sucked ...you prolly are my age if not younger so you obviously see the graphics are cheesy but think about a 9 year old kid watching this every what like thursday night? he was prolly that little boys hero he prolly wanted to be like him sooooo bad

  • This reminds me of my friend dougie fresh!

  • like if u looked dis up becuase george consanza from seinfield was singing it HAHAAH <3 it

  • Replay all day

  • Loved friday night tv back in the 80s Ateam/american hero/dukes of hazzed/knight rider/automan/street hawk what a night!!

  • THE THEME SONG WAS WAY BETTER THAN THE SHOW.IT SUCKED.

  • rip robert culp...awesome show

  • This song is so hip, I think I'll use it in my voice mail telling callers I'm not home.

  • They should make a movie of this. I'd watch it.

  • Comment removed

  • i keep hearing a paraody of this song on 80's on 8 on siriusxm....whatever happened to decent TV like this?? btw I'm early 30's like pyrotechc3h8

  • amazing how "innocent" these shows were. no "dark" storylines or characters. how far we have fallen.

  • @usaeagle1776 I don't think we've fallen, but I'd like to see MORE shows like this.

I fucking hate TV nowadays anyway. I only watch Reviews On The Run. Nothing else.

  • I just came here to see where the Cinema Snob got his opening music from. Cool! (^_^)

  • This show fucking ruled. Can't believe it only lasted 3 seasons in the early 80's.

  • Even TV show themes in the 80's are better then today's atrocities on the radio.

  • Sorry guys, but family guy brought me here. What can I say? Im 13.

  • @ajmomoho It's ok, I'm 35 and Family Guy reminded me that this show existed and THAT brought me here!

  • @pyrotechc3h8 Cool! I'm 38. It's always neat to conect with those around my age. You probably watched The Fall Guy right after this, or at least the intro. My fiance looks like Connie Selleca! Who would've thought when we were 5-8 and watching this back then!

  • @ajmomoho At least you're not acting like a fucking moron like most 13 year olds do.

  • " Believe it or not, George isn't at home. Please leave a message at the beep. I must be out or I'd pick up the phone. Where could I be? Believe it or not, I'm not home." :P

  • Man does this bring back memories

  • This has got to be one of the best theme songs for a tv show ever. I love it!

  • I don't think I can take any superhero with this as a theme song seriously.

  • I remember watching this, but I just wondered something- how did he have a secret identity, if everyone could see his face? o.O

  • Comment removed

  • Haha! I have the feeling that many people have looked this up thanks to Family Guy.

  • @scorchedcandy : Actually, I got here because of George Costanza's answering machine :P.

  • cinema cnob

  • The Syfy Channel's going to be doing a marathon of Greatest American Hero this week, July 21 and 22nd, yay! : D

  • @thewyndtyger I know this is old now, but glad I was able to help! ; D

  • @thewyndtyger I know this is old now, but glad I was able to help! ; D

  • All time favorite. This with Auto Man, the Fall guy and Blue Thunder. ABC had me hooked.

  • Believe it or not i'm fucking your wife.

  • i had to search this after watching Family Guy (New Brian ep). too funny. good song tho. I vaguely remember the show, but some reason that song never left my memory, if it weren't for Peter Griffin, I would've never known were that song was from. I actually thought it was from Family Ties.

  • Believe it or not George isn't a home, please a leave a message at the beep. I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone. Where could I be? BELIEVE IT OR NOT I'M NOT HOOOMMME!

  • So many years ago ..i miss tv like this ..such good memorys as a kid.very nostalgic .

  • I was born in 1970 but I am not from USA and I have never been there either. I live in Stockholm in Sweden, Europe. A lot of the american TV-series (far from all) came to us with a delay of one year or two (or more!). If I had a fiancée looking like Connie Sellecca, what more could I wish for? Connie was 25 when GAH started and it's so sad that she never made a career in Hollywood. What a godlike heroine she would have been!

  • @BesonXL At 0:57, that's where Connie Selleca looks like my fiance, with her hair tied up. Guess BOTH women should take it as a compliment!

  • ya gotta kidding me!!! :O

  • lol 40 year old virgin!

  • 2 words.........................connie seleca!
