I read Locomotive 4800 caught fire a few days ago but since theres no major damage that locomotive may be out of service for a while. Does that mean they have to use PL42ACs or did they purchase enough of the P40s to have spares?
So what is NJT currently using for the ACES while they are suspended from service? My guess's are other locomotive models hopefully the PL42ACs. Which would have been a better choice then ex Amtrak GE Genesis locomotives.
@MrWill1985 The ACES train currently runs non stop from Newark Penn Station to Atlantic City Rail Terminal (and vice versa) with a Multilevel Cab Car and a PL42AC.
At Newark Penn Station ACES passengers must transfer to another train to go to New York, or to go to Atlantic City they must transfer at Newark Penn Station to an ACES train.
Whoa! That is so cool! I have an HO AMD-103 like that and when I saw this, I thought, I wish I could repaint it to look like this! Yeah, It's from Amtrak, Number 825. So, if I repainted it to look exactly like this, it would look awesome.
when i first saw those engines, i thought the whole front black part was a window

They don't have to use them in the tunnels, they can go on the other lines.

@P40BH I don't care if you love the P40. New Jersey Transit's P40s are as of right now out of service.

@Acela150Kid, so what are they gonna do with all the P40DC's?
boberttrain831 1 year ago
No one knows. I think it was the turbocharger that led to the fire. It would lead me to believe they're changing them.

are they gonna scrap them

@P40BH they were reinstated in to service a few weekends ago.
