@ismokewead420 Only took 2 years for me to toast the engine (see my other video post-rebuild). Seriously though, I'm sure I'll crash it before any of that matters =D
mate!! the next time you do that, make sure you tell people where you are, and what your doing, lots of people have died there, be safe shiny side up!!
@thesniper1191 I went after the events for the year were done, but the black line on the salt was still there. It is a few miles long, and the salt was smoother along it. You can drive on the rest of it too, just a bit rougher.
not a chevy guy myself, but that was freaking insane, and you're so damn luck it didn't catch air haha.
I got my old '89 5.0l Ford F-250 up to 100mph on a dry lake (Soggy Dry Lake) once, with a very slight tailwind, and a bunch of camping gear and 2 dirt bikes in the back. Took the whole lake to do it, with not much left for braking, but it was DEFINITELY worth it. Can't believe I forgot to grab the camera.
Lmao at these comments. Mann that looks like so much fun! So,stupid question but what exaclty is a salt flat "land mass area" ? Its actually salt or somthing? Im from NY lol nothing close to big land masses around here, just big stupid buildings lol.
@demonsparkx You don't know what the Bonneville Salt Flats are? It's a dried-up lake area out in Utah. Completely flat, because as the lakebeds dried up, the salt settled out and leaves a completely smooth, flat surface. One of the best places in the world for top-speed.
I think I'd like to try it, I only live 4 hours away, but when it's dry, maybe just after an event so it's still groomed. If I spun out I think my rear spoiler would send me airborne.
@Verticans You can go whenever you want. I would recommend going during the summer or when it hasn't rained in a while. I went shortly after a rain, hence the spin out.
@m3ltaw4y Ive seen IMSA races at Daytona and Sebring in the early 80s (When IMSA had balls) and full blown ground effects cars like the Lolas and Jaguars become airbourne at 200mph just by the rear end getting a little loose. Hell, F-1 cars do it to this day. How many Gs do you think you pulled?
@22reTOYOTA Hard to say, I didn't check the G meter before turning off the car. The force seemed to come primarily from the air at that speed. It bent the hinges of the hatchback (that noise you hear is the outside air getting in after they bend), and the side view mirrors spun around a few times. I was not spinning around very fast, so I don't think the G force was very high. The car was probably spinning around once per second or so.
that was bad ass!!!! it's been one of my dreams to drive on the salt flats. i think my car will hit about a 160-170 on it (done between 155-160mph on the highway before). but 200!!!! what a rush!!!!
did you have to pay or anything?? any of the salt ruin your wax or paint job??
Unless you go during a sanctioned event, its free and unrestricted. They have painted a black line down the main (groomed) straight away. I went just after the rainy season started, which in retrospect was not the best idea (spinning out at that speed is pretty scary). No damage from the salt so far, although I got it washed immediately after and it hasn't been that long.
Dont get me wrong, but i doubt the vette ever did 205. At these speeds, even the most tecnological evolved cars are losing miles from their speedometers. There is agood chance that you did barely 200 or a bit under
@ozilevin200 Yeah, I'm sure there is some percentage error. Until I have a friend to radar me or a GPS verification, the only thing I have to go off of is my own speedometer.
that corvet is gonna be full of holes in 10 years

The poor audio and shaky, low-res video make for a scene that even Stanley Kubrick himself couldn't replicate. Very trippy. Well done.

Bureau of Land Management clearly says.
•Stay on existing roads or areas designated for vehicles.
Iam not familliar how does the law really treating trespassers in Utah.
(I wouldn't have been nice here in Illinois cuz we have too many stupid cops)
How really is there with law and stuff. can you just go offroad at first possible exit and just punch it? are there special areas to do that?

@22reTOYOTA I spun in circles. The gauges go to 0 because I am sliding and my tires are not rolling.
