  • A big joke indeed

  • Fredi Szopen is de best polish musicalmen !

  • I've listened to a ton of renditions of this piece and I have no idea what DeliusAlkan is talking about when he/she says that this is an '"uninspiring execution." This was performed very, very well. There was a lot of emotion and heart put into this piece and I could tell. I think that the pianist's sexual orientation and outfit are masking Delius' perception of this wonderful Nocturne.

  • @lnr08f Delius is not talking about this pianist's attire or sexual orientation - and that has no room here. To the contrary Delius correctly points to the lack of any emotion or feeling in this performance - it is bland, boring and bad. If you had in fact listened to other interpretations by real piano virtuosi you would understand, maybe.

  • Yup, some people have their ideas, and readily downgrade anyone that won't deliver to their expectations. If Maxim let some "flattness" crip in, it is because he *felt* so, not because he can't do "better". That is a part of artist's integrity and, yes, feeling flat is very legitimate human emotion, that certainly hasn't been stranger to Chopin too. Producing emotion because others want it, in the form and volume desired, comes dangerously close to the definition of kitsch art.

  • Yes, he is Croatian <3

  • Comment removed

  • This is almost identical to Rubinstein's version in his Chopin collection album. I couldn't tell if there is any difference. Almost exactly the same

  • This performance of nocturne op 27/2 is full of soul while Pollini's is not.

  • In my own perspective does it really matter if the music is hes or not or wither he's a he or she or unknown (LOL), the way i see it and others dont give an ass bout some1s attire I personally think its cool cuz it at least makes up a diffrent vibe furthermore whats important is that they can perform/play the pieces right or wither they play it in originaly or not. Applause anyone!!!!

  • Did he took a Shot before playing Chopin Nocturne. This not original at all but some fantasy music of his own. Let him train from Michael Nyaman to play a music on piano before he plays great creatos.

  • Personally, I don't give a hoot if he looks like Marvin the Martian. I like it and I like his playing.

And to those that moan about his playing, post your own versions. Let's see what you play like. :)

  • @CptANemo Are you arguing that people need to play better than him in order to criticize his playing? What kind of absurd fallacy of logic is this?? Do you need to be a cook to criticize a food you ordered in restaurant? Do you need to be a director to criticize Michael Bay's Transformers? Do you need to open up a multinational fastfood franchise to criticize McDonald's? The answer to all these questions is certainly not. I'm not at all an expert of Chopin but this guy can't play.

  • @devilhunterred I'm curious, what makes you think he can't play? I love Chopin and this is one of my favorite pieces of his. Although the piano sounds a little funny, his execution of the song is wonderful.

  • @jbassfox His execution is bland and boring as hell, he doesn't use dynamics in the performance and the entire song is just one monotonous dull ride where I just can't feel any emotions from his playing, actually I can't feel anything. Playing the piano is more than just memorizing the notes, in professional performance the performer has to connect with the piece and relate it to his/her own personal experience to bring out the human emotions, I don't think Maksim has achieve that with this.

  • @devilhunterred

Maksim is the Pianist For Dummies. Amazing how mediocre and boring he is and still appeals to addled hamburger chomping dummies. Worst is his Hungarian Rhapsody, plays slow, sputters, slows down when he can't keep the tempo even playing a dumbed-down version.

  • @devilhunterred Nope. The absurd fallacy is your ASSumption about what I meant. Nope. Nope. Nope.

So, your opinion that the guy can't play is simply your little opinion. "Honorary" critics are a dime a million.

  • @AnnaliseEmber I don't know which comment of mine you are referring to, what you are talking about and frankly I don't care what you have to say :)

  • @devilhunterred

    aaww

    Life's tough.

The simple solution is that if you don't like something, don't sit there and snivel about it; simply don't watch it.

    Have a nice day.

  • @AnnaliseEmber There is a Like AND Dislike button for every video for a reason. I voted thumps down on the video and voiced my opinion. You don't like my opinion? Don't read it. Very simple, really.

You have a nice day too.

  • Besides being a great musician,he has that special charisma of Croatian men.....masculin and savoir vivre!!

  • Thank you very much !

  • this man is much more like a rock star:)

but this music really appeals to me~

  • I like it. Is everyone an expert here?? I am no great pianist, but anyway this is not the easiest piece... so unless you people play better than him....

And I also like that he shows up in those clothes :D

  • Perhaps if you people would disregard what he looks like and LISTEN TO THE MUSIC, you might actually hear something beautiful.

  • Pianissimo... piano.... pianissimo... piano... then the odd rude awakening. Th dynamics are all to pot and the storm before the final theme fortissimo... well I would have stopped and started again.

  • I love Horowitz and Jung Lin play Chopin, very very beautiful

  • the piano sounds bad for this piece but he's good

  • @THEmusicgurl98 i agree

  • I don't watch the video and I comment the music is great. I watch the video and the music is still great. Clearly there're people judging on his "messy" appearance. And no I'm not defending him simply because fanbasing or such. I'm a pianist and I just happen to know that there's peace here.

  • league of legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No muscles, no sleeveless outfit!

  • Philistines. Perhaps you should chop off your ears and just watch a set consisting of Yundi Li's facial expressions....

  • @AKTVUK Oh a thousand likes to that LOL

  • When I saw Iron Maiden live, i saw Bruce Dickinson wearing a tuxedo.

    Oh, wait...

  • for those of you who don't like him, simply don't watch, and shut up

  • Chopin and Liszt, like most artists, defied epithets hurled at them like Romantics. History gets revised all the time. Both wrote music to escape such categorizations: the Nocturnes, the Hungarian Rhapsodies. Though some performers pull it off well enough on the concert stage, this is Salon music. It is not designed for this kind of performance venue. Even with the best Performers the concert hall betrays the quality of the composition. A cocktail lounge would make a better stage for the piece.

  • @TrinkBruder That's very insightful - what in your opinion would be fit for a concert hall?

  • Il est sûr que devant un tel talent, la tenue vestimentaire n'importe pas. Chopin aurait sans aucun doute aimé l'avoir pour élève.

  • been playing piano for nearly 40 years with best teachers in my country,,,i say "impressive in many ways".....

  • He's OK, I guess... not the best, but he plays well.

  • i slept with him and i can tell you guys he is a maestro . sorry girls he plays for the other team !

  • @lukkha1 WWWWHHHHAAAAATTTTT????? oh come on how can you say that for a complete stranger to you??? and i liked the way he performed it...

  • @chrisoulicius well because he is not a complete stranger we studied piano together !

  • @chrisoulicius and so far i didnt insult him so what's your problem? that i slept with him or that he is gay ?

  • @chrisoulicius or is your problem just the fact that you werent the one to sleep with him. anyway dont piss me off with your bullshit i couldnt care less. Max is a great guy and an accomplished musician that's all that matters.

  • @lukkha1 why are you so offensive??? i am just a fangirl... when i read "i slept with him" i thought you meant that you got completely bored... sooo the "sorry girls he plays for the other team" i thought that you just insulted him... ok??? if you read my comment again you'll understand that... don't be so agressive...

  • @chrisoulicius i'm a guy maybe if you read my screen name you'll see there are not so many girls called luka . anyway sorry if you found it so agressive. my bad. have a great life and keep on being a fan. if you visit japan let me know i'll make it up to you. sweet dreamn it's almost 6 am here time for me to sleep.

  • @lukkha1 ooohhh ^_^ japan is my dream country i am in love with it since i was 14 anime... gazette :) it's ok sweet dreams :)!!

  • @chrisoulicius where are you from ? i'm half japanese half icelandic

  • @lukkha1 i'm from greece!!! so if you ever come here for vacation let me know ^_^ our conversation is really funny if you read it from the beginning.. :))

  • @chrisoulicius indeed it is kind of funny i guess i alays seem cold and rude at first but i am not such a bad guy. i am usually just tired of the homophobia on the net. so really my bad for misunderstanding you. so greece, wow talking of a country with the cutest guys on earth, lucky you! what's your name and how old are you. i figure you're a lady right ?

  • @lukkha1 I don't care if this "pianist" is a fag or not, but this is one of the most uninspiring executions of this wonderfully dreamy Nocturne... Where's the real emotion, the singing melodies & the heart-melting moments? Surely not here... And with a suit like that, he's more like a Death Metal singer thatn a classical pianist, and it's really unpleasant to see someone with this appearance to execute such a beautiful piece... Sure, he isn't bad here, but he is outshined by the competition...

  • @DeliusAlkan and the reason why you feel the urge to say all that to me, though you perfectly know i dont give a flying fuck about your comment and your opinions, is ?

  • @lukkha1 Don't know, just saying...

  • @DeliusAlkan Have you heard Weissenberg's interpretation? :-)

  • @DeliusAlkan Now while everyone has their own opinion on how someone plays, I can't dispute that. I like it, you don't, that's just how it is. However, it is disgustingly ignorant to chop down on his playing just because of how he is dressed. I'm sure there are homeless people who can play beautiful sonatas dressed in nothing but rags and that doesn't change the quality of the art. Not everyone has to look up to your expectations you pompous douche.

  • @x3ph34r My friend, that guy who criticized Maksim because of his style of dressing is just an envious and hateful, bigoted and mediocre, a bored and unhappy guy with his own existence. Don't waste your time with people like him because there are a lot of them criticizing to those who love their lives and works as Maksim Mrvica.

  • @DeliusAlkan Prejudice and envy is the feeling of those who are angry with others and angry with themselves.

    Wonderful work Maksim!! Congratulations!!

  • @DeliusAlkan You must be idiot right? You care about music but still talking about his outfit? He is all about crossover style so you argument is invalaid. Ever tried to listen his work ...check out his performance of Kolibre, Somewhere in time etc. He is really one of my biggest rollmodels, reason why i got interested into classical music. Not only me ofc.

And whats the thing about him being gay? He is married and he is father.

  • @DeliusAlkan the point is, u cant do like he do..so shut the hell up..close ur ear..and dont see this video over again...case closed..everyone happy...

  • @DeliusAlkan Thanks the lord's ball bag that you are the highest rated. I wanted to write something similar but couldn't be bothered with the replies from a million women.

To hear how er... amazing he is listen to his own music. Basically it's just nu metal with a piano. Horrid, horrid overused chord progressions with high production costs. It's so annoying. It's an easy money maker. cont...

  • @riggermortisify A hot guy with a guitar makes money so imagine the puddles this guy'd causes gigs. Shallow, aesthetically obsessed money machine badly disguised to make people think "It's alright er... he's a classic... man... type thing. I intellekchool if I wanna sex im! Finally, someone who I can like for the "right reasons". No more hiding in the toilet for some NSync.". As usual. I know. I'm an arse. An infinite arse. But I look like him. And I play piano. So... pants off.

  • @DeliusAlkan You do not understand music..

  • @DeliusAlkan I would say that clothing is not important. If you are not able to listen with a heart but just with your prejudices then pls do not listen to music at all.

  • @lukkha1 His wife and daughter will be surprised to hear you say that.

  • @lukkha1 Lucky for us then.

  • too fast

  • The point is he is attractive, he's talented-- and most likely, he can play this song better than you can. Get over your miserable, pompous selves.

  • Why the fuck does everyone care about what he's wearing?

  • @gayerest yuhh.. dey cant comment on his playing, so day comment in wat his wearing.. such bitches and perverts..

  • @gayerest because his playing isn't really all that bad! It's an ok performance. People just have to come up with something to explain their hatred for him.

He's a pianist of -relatively- mediocre abilities who's more famous than many very talented pianists. It *is* something to be jealous of, mainly because it's a bit unfair :D

So you'll find many criticizing his clothes, accessories, hair and other aspects that are irrelevant to the music.

  • It's amazing how the eyes interfere with the ears! Women had great difficulty passing auditions for top orchestras until they introduced screens in the auditioning process so the judges couldn't see the candidates, then, suddenly, women appeared to sound a lot better and got hired where they had been dismissed before. Strange how prejudice works, no?

  • I thought I saw him with Arrowsmith........ right??

  • This is image over substance. I say to this guy: cut the crap and just play Chopin. Nobody would be noticing this guy if he dressed professionally and stopped acting gay because his musical performance is mediocre. He is full of himself and surrounds himself with an audience of sheeple who would lap up anything he does as long as it's gay enough. Just look at the way he contorts himself at the end of the piece in a display of fake intensity. Bullshit!

  • @maolruanaidh shut up! his not a gay.. he has a wife.. he has his own interpretations with his musics and that's the way he is.. and he has his own place like chopin have.. whether u like him or not, hell he care? bullshit!

  • why do u say this isnt good???it is perfect..

  • Comment removed

  • But that doesn´t make him a bad pianist. He just mixes classical and actual music, tries to create something new that, sometimes, sounds like crap. He´s good playing but he is horrible mixing.

So to summarize, i think he´s a good pianist, but sometimes he screws the song he is playing with cheap effects. (Whoa, i had never written so much in a comment! ;)

  • For the people who think he´s god, i have to say that he does dress in a bizarre way (like a travestite ;) and he also mixes up classical and actual music. That is a very dangerous mix, because most of the times the actual music short of makes the classical song cheaper, doesn´t it? For example, when he plays Revolutionary. I almost threw up when i saw it, he completely destroyed that song.

  • For the people who think he´s no idea, i have to say that i think he plays this song nicely, but if you don´t think so, i´d like you to check on the video in which he plays The Bumblebee. Then, you´ll see that the reason why he´s someone. I think he is a very good pianist, even though he seems a travestite.

  • If i may, i would like to join the two sides of this arguement: the people who say he´s brilliant and the people who think he´s horrible playing.

  • You guys are obviously criticizing the music based on his appearance. He plays with perfect rubato and expression. His dynamics are beautiful and the piece is wonderfully executed. How anyone thinks he's playing as if bored or incompetent is beyond me.

  • @BiggestPossible Funny comment :-)) The criticism only reflects his performance which is at-best mediocre, worst interpretation I have ever heard. There is zero expression, flat dynamics, lack of technique. Every one of his classical pieces is a joke.

  • beautiful

  • Classical music needs no dress up. It stands on its own feet with the music and talent. Not the frivolous lighting and hip wristband. I feel like I am listening to scissors taking a shit.

  • I'd love to see the people criticising Maksim upload a piece of piano music by THEIR OWN HAND, and we'll let the YouTube community decide who really sucks. They're just jealous that this guy can make more money taking a shit than they do in a whole month. Maksim: I salute you. May you continue to interpret masterpieces in your own unique way, and influence the younger generations the way you have done for years to come.

  • People must have some personal issues with this guy. I don't get it. He plays so amazing. I've played for 11 years and have been working on some of the songs he plays and they are so flippin difficult! I don't know anything but what I see in youtube videos and it looks to me like he can play pretty darn good...but I don't know, I'm just a pianist.

  • I love how people talk about how shitty Maxim is when they can't play piano at all. He's very good and deserves the fame he's worked for.

  • What the f. The damn great pianist playing the good song. This song is a lullaby to me. I'll just listen to this song then I'll go to bed.

  • Very touching.

  • He's the one of the very best pianist of this century, hands down.....

  • @alreadythen1 A huge NO! LOL he's not even in the top 1000 playing today, but he does have a gimmick. Maybe you are joking?

  • What kind of piano is that? It sound like a toy piano. Why is he not using a Steinway?

  • Excelent! Interpretare de exceptie....! @};-

    Favorit!

  • Ugh! What the hell was that attempt at emotion on the final page? Ding dong. Ding dong. Perhaps he couldn't wait to finish. Mercifully.

  • hmm :\ not my favourite take on this piece

and the piano sound isn't nice.

  • i thought he played it beautifully. and you people can say what you're saying

    with out being such dicks.

  • CHOPIN I MAKSIM WSPANIAŁE POŁĄCZENIE

  • Eish - all this negative feedback demonstrates a fear for change! Time to wake-up as wise ones know that the only thing that is constant in this universe is CHANGE itself and the time has arrived here!

Well done for breaking away from the boring dress code Maksim! I salute you and your excellent gift!

  • This was actually very good. I'm saying this based on both knowledge and skill. The guy just put his heart all out there, respect the artist.

  • I really can't understand why some people are putting him down because i've heard way worse interpretations. It surely isn't the best but it's still good.

I think the reason people are putting him down is because he doesn't really look like a professional pianist. if those pseudo-experts here would really know something about interpretation they would be quiet.

  • @Pianoheini I really would like to hear the interpretations you heard that you say were "way worst" than this one, am finding it difficult to find one. My opinion has nothing to do with the dress code.

  • @ldhmage

I heard pollini's one and have to say that it wasn't good. In my opinion it was to fast. I think the problem of Maksim is that he sometimes plays extremely delayed notes in this piece. It isn't wrong to play like that but I also think he overdid it. I highly recommend the interpretation of Dinu Lipatti

  • Excuse me!! Is this a pianist?? Or band rock?

  • ****

  • he's really hot, wish he would play naked //

  • P.G.C. = Punk Goes Classic!

  • I don't know why people are so hard up about what he wears. Just leave his clothes alone and listen to what he is playing! I don't think he is the greatest but seriously, there's some talent in there!!!

  • Maksim..u are my favorite pianist..just wanna say WOWWW :)

  • To whom dislike it... it's much better than a lot of well dressed and nice girls performs it...

  • I love how the two top ranked comments contredict one another lol

  • @MakotoShishio5 i love how the top proposed video is mrs. maxim

  • @Op3d You clicked on it..don't lie we all did

  • @888johngalt You're insulting Ivo...Pogorelich was great...this guy isn't :))

  • @themightychickens ha, mighty chicken is right, i think what really bothers you is that he is straight, and wouldnt give you the time of day. seriously what piano bars are you hangin at? and how high is your tab at these bars?

  • @themightychickens

I'd like to know what's bad with his interpretation or which interpretation you would recommend. Because i've seen pollini's one and have to say that it is absolutely hideous.

  • @Pianoheini I don't know, because I don't give a fuck.

Music is meant to please your ears, not give you a fucking headache, like this piece of thrash does.

  • @themightychickens He makes piano records with rock bands in the background...that's what makes him famous.

  • @themightychickens who the fuck keeps giving you thumbs up. you're being a real dick! and people agree with you?

  • @ghostfacedude93 I just say other people think, but are too polite to say themselves.

I don't give a fuck how you label me, I simply speak my mind.

  • @themightychickens seems too me you're just being a dick.

i guess people like dicks these days?

  • @ghostfacedude93 Who's the dick, the guy who speaks is honest mind, or the guy who's outraged by the guy who speaks his honest mind?

  • @themightychickens im just being honest too.

    and i honestly think you're a dick!

  • @themightychickens because he's one of the few young people who can play classical and he's one of the rare people who can give a twist to classical....

  • @KajSuper18 You, my good sir, have no fucking clue.

  • @themightychickens haha! pitty you...i wont waste more time on you. PATHETIC LOSER. BYE

  • @KajSuper18 i can think of quite a few ways to give classical music a twist....just keep the melody and screw up the harmony then ur done! :)

  • @themightychickens You'd be famous too if you're a piano playing X-Men. Even his name sounds like a mutant.

  • difficult nocturne its a good performance

  • How he dresses??? I just close my eyes and... enjoy....

  • he reminds me of bruno

  • Who cares what he wears? Clothes do not make the man, as they have said.

He actually looks cool in that get up. Looks like he could fit with "Night on Bald Mountain" from Fantasia.

  • @blueberries4ever bravo!!! je suis d'accord!!!!

  • @lisa09ely Thank you.

  • @blueberries4ever True, clothes do not make the man, then why dress as a fucking male whore?

  • He need a steinway though

  • @FXIX agree

  • He really knows how to contrast a performance in balance of his modernize version and existed original musics.

  • In my opinion, I like how he dresses, and plays ;D

    He's hot<3

  • wow , beautiful.

  • Great...!!!!!

  • L'habit ne fait pas le moine! Et tant mieux! Wouw!

  • HHmmmm.. do you think he gives private performances for birthdays etc?? ;-)

  • He's hot! He has beautiful hands and fingers -look at them as he plays- sexy! He could be playing the piano in a tuxedo or wearing a leather harness and chaps and he would be full of passion. I think the people who have a problem with his clothes and appearance are jealous of this man's talent, good looks and his expression of his own uniqueness. Perhaps he will inspire them to find their own uniqueness and express it in their own way.

  • Beautiful, sensitive interpretation... I just love this guy however controversial.

  • Now this is real music! Sad how degraded our current society is on taste for good music, screw off rebbeca black, justin bieber!

  • I love Maksim and I love all about him

  • Guy looks silly, plays beautifully.

  • I'd prefer seeing this gentleman in a suit and tailcoat, with his current hair of course.... so hawt

  • Hats off to Maksim because he's making Classical Music more delectable for younger audiences... if his way of dressing or using a drum beat draws a younger crowd, I'll say Hell to the Yes and support him...

He's a wonderful pianist and has a great sense of musicality... He really moved my soul by the way he played this piece.. just beautiful..

  • This song is so beautiful. It makes me tear up.

  • he's jus so freakin hot..lol...n of course he played beautifully

  • i think he's just wonderful! he's playing so sensitive!! really beautiful!

and i like his clothes too; he looks so natural, not pedantic and he shows that you don't have to wear a suit and a tie to play chopin.

  • Time and movement of musical art...

  • 105 people who; are angry with him because their jealous they cannot play like that

  • @anormalmonth like liberace, right?

  • No Rubenstein but very strong.

  • Well if you look carefully, when the camara is taking the vew from the high right on top of the paino, what's his playing does not mach with the sound. my god

  • Clothing is not important. Don't be try to be fanct. It's about the music.

I give concerts myself just wearing my typical everyday clothes which make me look like some kinda person who has a skateboard and listents to rap, although I don't use the skateboard I own and don't listen to rap, but this.

And at those concerts people don't complain about the clothes luckely. They just ask wheter I want to make a carreer as a pianist.

    It's all about the music.

  • I wish he would have played this on a real piano.

  • Is he playing too fast or am I just retarded because of the sleepiness?

  • sounds very cold. Not like D flat major

... but thats the instrument ... very well played :)

  • this piano is out of tune

  • @hololop no..the piano just piano,no out of tune..haha..stup..id

  • You have the touch of the Great Master's.....A wonderful Gift from God. Thank You!

I'm in tears listening to your performance.

  • 102 people were so touched by the guys awsom piano powa and missed the like button

  • @anormalmonth

Do you think he can wear only a Christian cross in the Emirates ?

  • @anormalmonth Hi, i thing so too,lol

  • @anormalmonth could be a way of gathering attention, that obviously worked ;)

  • @anormalmonth The point is he can't play worth two cents.

  • @makodreaming So you say that he does not know how to play?
