You make it look so easy,I took my first wheelthrowing class yesterday and got a bit discouraged.Thank you so much for these videos,I can watch you all week and when I go back for the next class I hope I can do much better.Great demonsrations, thanks a million
@willowsidiom learning to throw take a long time. anyone can make crappy pieces the first day, take your time and be patient. everybody that has thrown has struggled.
great video , no wasted movements, I tend to do movements which don't really advance the shape of the pot and the process. Your clay doesn't look too hard, easy to shape, rather soft ---,another mistake I used to make; Thanks !

i think it would be really cool and heplful if you made a video or a couple videos of you making some bowls and vases with like a helmet cam or something. like an above view almost first person view would be very cool
@IxMURDERFACExI If you haven't thrown before I would say take a class somewhere before get a wheel. There are groups around that rent kiln space. Some craft scools local ceramics groups would be a good start to check out.
Ah man!! I wish I could take one of your classes/workshops, you explain things so well! But I'm stuck down in TX and have only thrown about 10 times... XD
YOU ARE BEYOND AWESOME!!!! I'm about to take my first pottery class in August and you and a few others that have posted your videos online have been a huge inspiration to me!!! Thanks A Million!!! ♥
You Are welcome I hope these help as you take your class. It is good to be able to replay a step over and over without having to ask youre instructor.
i really found this to be a helpful video! could you possibly do another one from a different angle? from the side or from some where in between, id like to see more of how your hands are interacting with the clay on the side.
As always, excellent instruction both video and audible description. BTW, glad to know you use the MuddTools on the inside while cleaning up. I've done this since day 1. Great vindication here. Love the fact you prefer teaching usable wares.
This is Imovie 08, Which Steve Jobs said was easy, it wasnt i have to do all sorts of converting. an apple program will not recognize an apple movie file (.mov) when you get framilar with it is very quick.
a berry bowl ends up just being an ugly bowl with one use. My students are pushed in the direction of greatness not sucky stuff. thanks for your insight. Go Parctic Thistle
YEah thats kinda my thing same with my student "DONT MAKE SUCKY STUFF" it make me look bad, and I do not make berry bowls or chip and dips sets or soap pumps get outta here.
These videos are very helpful. I have started incorporating your method of opening into my routine and I am having much better success keeping my pots centered and the wall thickness even.
If you ever have time, I would love to see a video on spiral wedging.
Thanks for this wonderful resource you are providing.

Hey Tim,
So, I'm thinking about getting a potters wheel, but first, is there anywhere, like a club or something, that I could go to fire them?

I love how he makes you think about the little things that make it practical when it comes to use. I will keep that in mind as I go.
Thanks Tim
