  • So Pi what exactly is this mod and is it still alive?

  • Wow is this your own sort-of game?

  • VERY impressive. Looking forward to the release bigtime.

  • Hello, great job. I'd like to comment on the way your spaceship turns though. The pivot point of your turning happens to be on the camera view itself and not on the ship model. This is why it feels strange. You get the sensation that the ship is just an object in front of you like a pistol in first person and the real player is behind the camera instead of in front of the view like a third person game is supposed to feel.

    Mark

  • Hey, thanks for dropping by and posting a useless comment with zero relevance!

  • theres no sound in space anyway...

  • is it just me, or is there no sound in this vid?

or has sound not been implemented yet?

  • I didn't record any sound to cut down on video filesize. All you'd be able to hear are the thrusters anyway.

  • Oh ok. Thanks for the quick reply. Also, is this the reason for no sound in the other vids you have up too?

  • Yeah, for the most part. In a couple of them, the sound was corrupt after framedumping the video.

  • What an engine. Best of luck with the mod guys.

  • Reminds me a little of Eternal Silent, but good anyways!

  • Looks great, Think you crammed way to many things into the sky box though.

  • that spaceflight is retarded. they cant at least attempt to make it realistic? it looks like they have noclip enabled

  • You mean noclip with inertia? And clipping? So completely *not* like noclip then.

It's a "soft" Newtonian flight model. We're not making a space sim.

  • it has no turning inertia. you would need to cancel out the frictionless turning inertia in one direction [through expulsion of gases] before you can turn in a different direction, or modify the movement in any way.

  • "We're still playing with the turn rates. It is too fast at the moment."

  • Well it looks damned cool, the only thing that bothers me is the ease with which you can turn. Even that should be subject to inertia, ideally... unless you've found that it would ruin gameplay.

  • We're still playing with the turn rates. It is too fast at the moment.

  • great!
