i have the phase pistol/communicator. if you store the communicator closed, the spring wears out. also i found the phase pistol batteries drain abnormally fast just from sitting around - not the cheapest button batteries to replace either. :(

as you see I keep the communicator open and the battery in the phaser last me 2 to 3 year but thanks for the info

TOS is my favorites also. I always loved the phaser and communicatores. I built my own at 7 years old. the the tip of the phaser I just a spark plug.....lol just the tip on the plug the rest was hidden

Nice collection indeed ... I'm thinking of getting the STIII phaser myself ... and modding a MR Tricorder to be a medical model (with body functions display and of course hand scanner). My display will never be like this treasure trove, though. ;)
