The Cars movies really do suck, but I like the idea for a Cars ride, you know? I mean, a Ratatouille ride doesn't sound as exciting.
I really like the re-theming of California Adventure. The original idea for DCA was a park geared more for adults that didn't have Mickey's on every corner, but at the end of the day, kids are the reason that people go to theme parks. At the end of the day, I think people want a Disneyland part 2 instead of an adult theme park or even a thrill park like six flags.
@mountainwalrus100 Well no, that's the main reason why they've decided to renovate the park. The predominant reason was because the park was redundant. I mean, think about it. A theme park in California based on other attractions that are in...California. It really is redundant. Overall, as an Annual Passholder, I'm glad they've decided to give the park a spark of new life. It's refreshing, and watching the park transform over time is interesting.
Unlike a few people who complain, I'm glad their adding this section and re-theming the park. As for the Bambi land idea, I like but it seems more fitting as the would be "North America" section at DAK(Animal Kingdom) than a section at one of the California parks.
I wasnt super impressed with this movie either, but at least there will be some actual theming in DCA now, the whole park so far just looks way too plain.
i think the reason they are building a carsland instead of a toy story land or something like that is because the movie takes place in california and the whole theme of the park is california, so cars does seem to fit where as finding nemo was in australia, up was in south america, idk where toy story was but so on and so forth. Cars was really pixars only film that made it clear that it was in california
Why the hell would they make a CarsLand. This is ridiculous. It's their worst rated movie, their LOWEST GROSSING... I can't even begin to tell my loathing for this. Give a 'Land to a movie that really deserved it--like Toy Story or Monsters, Inc. or Finding Nemo. You know, the ones that actually HAVE great stories to them.
@TheSqueakyPickles Toy Story was the only pixar film, besides antz and a bugs life ( im sure they were pixar) that had decent storyies (to story being a good story). Plus this is like a better version of test track, its themed, and u race another car.
i dont like it how there taking a great ride like the flying sausers and turning it into something weird. the park dosent have many atractions in it either
i dont like it how there taking a great ride like the flying sausers and turning it into something weird. the park dosent have many atractions in it either
What's so exciting about driving in a car? Isn't that what people are trying to avoid after being in traffic all day? This idea seems very uncreative and uninspiring, they simply copied a movie and another attraction ride system and branded it as something new. Whatever happened to the Disney I grew up with that was always pushing the limits on creativity and imagination, creating things we have never seen? I guess attractions on the level of Pirates and Haunted Mansion truly are extinct breeds.
Any of you posting with children under the ages of 8 would understand how huge the cars franchise is to Disney. The opening the park is going to be a major success. Not to mention that a new Cars movie is opening next summer. This will be a must visit for any family with kids. As for the quality of the Cars movie, it is a great piece of film making, I have had to watch it about 1000 times with my kids and unlike almost any other movie, it doesn't make me want to shoot my self in the head.

I was so shocked to hear they were making a Cars Land. The races sound cool but did Cars really need its own land?
I'm pretty sure they could've just made that one ride, then included other cool new rides from other Disney movies like UP, Wall E or even something older like sayyy Fantasia?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@DisMupPix010 it may fit, but its just a waste of money. Cars is critically recognised as Pixar's worst film ever and not only that, its an incredibly boring dull kinda movie. Basing a whole land on an under-performing uninteresting movie seems like a bit of a silly idea. Like why not base a whole land on like Star Wars? Or scratch the entire land and just build a new epic E-ticket attraction?
@jayrobson88 Because if they built a land on Star Wars all the proceeds will go to George Lucas and not them ;). And uh, you DO realize they ARE building an epic E-ticket in this land right? Radiator Springs will be one of their biggest E tickets ride ever and one of the costliest at around $300 million. And yes, thats ONLY for the ride ;). So you will have an epic E ticket dont worry about that.

@fctiger74 why defend this, christ everyone on youtube will argue literally any point. Come on you have to admit, even if you absolutely loved Cars(for some bizarre reason), that basing an ENTIRE land around is an odd idea and a bad idea. I think just the main ride would have sufficed.
@jayrobson88 LOL I'm only defending it because I think its going to be a great addition and I can't wait for it!! :) Never seen the movie btw ;). But will one day before this opens.
And DCA itself was a bad idea lol. At least now it will have some cool new additions and rides! ;)
Bro, I absolutely agree with you. Cars is widely regarded as quite possibly Pixar's worst film to date. Therefore it doesn't deserve an entire area dedicated to itself. Why not scrap the project and use the money to extend Tommarowland to add a Wall-E attraction instead? Or why not make an an area dedicated to The Incredibles which is quite possibly Pixar's most underrated movie ever.
How am I trolling? I'm simply stating my opinion. I'm a Disney fan as much as the next guy, but Cars Land is just an awful idea. I mean...it's a proven fact that despite how much money Cars has made, it is STILL Pixar's least popular film. The thing is that Cars is just childish plain and simple. Nothing really to appeal to other demographics like say...Wall-E or Finding Nemo or even Up.
But you do realize that Cars didn't have nearly an appealing or as deep story as Toy Story 3 or even Finding Nemo, right? You sound like a smart individual so I'm sure you realized that.
Nah. I think you simply don't like my opinion. Listen buddy, I'm entitled to my opinion so deal with it. Don't get mad at me just because I don't share the same opinion as you. If you got an issue, here's a tissue. ;)
@theaznfishy You are such an ass. Cars is one of the best Pixar movies (Toy Story is the best one) and if you stll think that Cars is their worst movie, then you can jump off a bridge and drown.

@SingerGirlCMP In California Adventure (Disneyland's second park) the additions, which started 2007 are Toy Story Midway Mania Little Mermaid ride Silly Symphony Swings Goofy's Sky School Car's Land (includes Radiator Springs Racers, Luigis Roamin Tires and another Mater themed ride) retheming the entrance to be Hollywood New trolleys that will take you around World of Color light/water/fire show Toy Story live musical show new restaurants, and more. It's a huge multi-year addition
@clockworkfiction3 just a slight correction, the new entrance is Buena Vista Street and will be 1920s Los Angeles. Hollywood Pictures Backlot will become early Hollywood. =)

"copied...another attraction ride system and branded it as something new."
That is exactly what they did with Haunted Mansion. They copied the same ride system from Adventures Through Inner Space.
It is also a fact that movie inspired attractions were made in Walt time as well. Like The Swiss family Treehouse.
Lets keep this as civil as possible.
You may not like this idea, you may not like Cars, you may not like Pixar, but this land will be popular, just wait and see.
