That DAC channel is capable of pulling off high quality samples at the cost of memory.

@shalpp Memory usage is no worse than the SNES (or potentially a lot better) if software compression is used, Not sure if EA did that but it's very possible. (and EA seemed to have a pretty good handle on the Z80+DAC) Even uncompressed it's less than 2x the space used for the SNES. And note that a HUGE part of quality PCM is good playback timing regardless of sample quality. (SFII SCE uses the exact same quality samples as Space Harrier II for example, but playback is much less even)
