  • I love it and he does a fine job. I am 67 years old and this has been one of my favorites.

I could listen to him play this for me many times over. Well done my friend!!!!!!!

  • There is nothing wrong! Ekier's edition is the most accurate and this is played correctly!

  • "WRONG NOTES ON MM. 30 and 34"!!!!!!!

    Here we go:

Jan Ekier edited the ETUDES in 2000, for the National Edition of the Works of Fryderyk Chopin, Polish Chopin Institute.

He presents the text I play in mm. 30 and 34 as the most reliable, after analysis of two Chopin autograph copies, one in Pierpont Morgan Library, New York, and the other in the F. Chopin Society in Warsaw.

He discusses all the variants in his source commentary, which I encourage anyone interested in this matter to read.

  • I will take up the "wrong notes" issue one more time, in a later post. About tempo, most people simply ignore Chopin's metronome indication of "8th-note = 100" for this etude. No one plays it that fast, but no one has the license to play it too slow. Incidentally, most people that play it too slow try very hard to match Chopin's metronome markings in the fast etudes. One wonders...

  • I have 2 different printed versions for this part, the one played here sounds weird, not Chopin, so I suppose is a transcription error.

  • bar 31 and 35 are wrong! i have the paderewski edition and what he plays and what is printed are two differant things!!

theres a nother bar that was messed up too at 40- 41.

two much of the inner voice.

the melody didnt sing like it should.

  • Ah.... but what notes.

  • you are WRONG, in the middle part, you have two wrong notes, maybe is your edition, i am sure the Paderewski Edition is the best for chopin

  • This is an old issue already, the Paderewski is the OLD Complete Works Edition. Check the NEW Complete Works Edition (Chopin Institute Warsaw), you will find this variant in there. This is, incidentally, the edition now recommended in the Warsaw International Chopin Competition...

  • Yeah, i heard two wrong notes. At 1.44, the repeat of the first bar of that phrase is supposed to be natural, as is the repeat in the D# minor phrase that is after. I checked both editions. They are exactly the same. But anyways, apart from that, this is perfect and I say very good job!!

  • Stunning!!!

  • Lindo!!! Beautiful!

  • ''Can anyone who has heard this music, i mena truly heard it. Realy be a bad person?''

  • can anyone share the music notes?

  • Just go to imslp . org, and do a search for Op. 10 Etudes. The edition I used here, however, is only available in print (National Edition, Jan Ekier ed.). Enjoy!

  • What kind of piano is this?

  • Yamaha C7

  • Where was is recorded, I want to play there!

  • he is formidable! in first time, he maked me feel in the heaven! this is my favourite, favourite song! is a beautiful melody! and he is fantastic, he plays maginific the piano, I love it!

  • The only thing that I can't understand is how amazingly well he is playing...;) I absolutely love it!!

  • At 1:39 and 1:49 he maked big mistakes!

    Can't understand making such mistakes.

  • As was earlier commented, this is the text of the latest edition of the complete works of Chopin. Those are the correct notes according to that edition.

  • We don't give a crap about his mistakes because to us, the public, it still sounded wonderful. Overly critical people like you should die. Keep your fancy-pancy technical crap to yourself and your colleagues.

  • It was just a different version of the piece, that's why he thought they were mistakes. The faulty criticism was cleared up... chill.

    To Campinho: well done.

  • Wow

  • Ausgezeichnet!

  • This is a wonderfully creative combination of pieces. It is beautifully executed and brings "No Other Love" to its true perfection.

  • I'd like to note, though, that it's not that I don't like the musician's playing, I think he is absolutely splendid. I just cant imagine why chopin would put such a chaotic string of notes in such a solemn sounding piece. For me, it depreciates the mood of the of the piece.

  • I love this piece, but for some reason I feel like 2:00-2:35 is just way out of the overall tone, and I just feel like I would cut that part out, because it ruins the entire song for me. However, I know this would be a very insensitive course of action.

  • i'd just like to note as well that it is not the musician's playing that bothers me, I think he is absolutely splendid.. it's just the song itself, I'm not sure why chopin would put such a chaotic string of music in such a solemn piece

  • but without the B section as it is, the piece would be SOO shallow! I guess if I wanted to cut it from the piece for any reason it would be because it's wicked difficult. ;)

  • This piece is marvelous. It is thought evoking and emotional. This performance was wonderful as well.

  • I love the quzi

  • Perhaps my favorite piece of classical music.

  • A beutiful performance. I do not think it is too structured, it flowed wonderfully. The masculine expression in this performance was evident and added a pleasing dimension

  • excellent playin =D

  • Bravo!

  • Your feel for the most part is lovely, but if you slowed up on the very end on certain parts, for emphasis, it would be even more beautiful.

  • awesome! one of my favourite etude!

  • Totally Agreed. Way too structured!! Nice Performance overall but please recheck the middle part, this must be very rhythm-challenging, with very frequent Cres/Decrescendo mouvements. Well done though, i'm admirative.

  • I just heard the middle part.. you play it TOO STRUCTURED... He keeps the chords very similar... you must be in hypnosis and go to a higher plane.. less formal.

  • Very good!

I want one of these editions!!

  • Oooh! I love this etude from Chopin.. You inspired me and i'm going to play it now!! Nicely done..

  • farah73 is rigth, and that is so beautyful i like pretty much with minor, but very nice work thank you.

  • at 1:42 it should be minor not major. and there aren't any different versions, even if that was the case, no one should change the NOTES chopin wrote, they just won't be better. but nice work overall :)

  • this is the edition recommended for the chopin warsaw competition, and THESE ARE Chopin's notes, the 19th century editors just thought they knew better...

  • overall, good job... just fix some notes.

  • Hmmm Poorly played overall. You need to check some of the notes on the second page as was already said. There was an extremely obvious mistake where you played a major 3rd in place of a minor 3rd, along with a few other glithches. It also sounded quite rushed at places, and i noticed that you have completely ignored several ralls. On a posotive tho, your melodic line was reasonably well voiced and it seemed technically quite stable.

  • he must have a different version, because some of the notes sound different on the second page, i also didn't like it very much, lol

  • the edition is the latest from the polish chopin institute, and indeed has different notes than the ones we're used to... could you precise what you don't like on it? thanks

  • WOW! I have been looking so long for this etude because this is my favorite work of Chopin. You don't disappoint!
