I am pretty sure nobody has ever done it like that.

They have more than likely realised it was possible, but quickly discovered it looks horrible, unnatural, unrealistic, and just bad. So they never bothered giving it another moment's thought. Keep working, but never show that to anyone because it is horrid. Go read one of the thousands of books on magic out there, and work on things that make sense.

instead of doing all that just get a deck pick up 2 cards but make it look like one show them the bottom card but the cards back on the deck get the first card and put it wherever you want after that show them the top card (it's technicly the same end result)
