  • What is the cheapest material that u could use on the top

  • Wat r the angles

  • i have no retarded questions other than what the angle did you use for the downslope?

  • My friends and I built 2 snowboard boxes this winter and we have enough plastic for another, but the best stuff (tested too) Is UHMW. Its literally better than what they use at the parks at major ski resorts. It is made by POLY-HI,inc. and costs $250 for a 4X10 foot sheet that is a half inch thick. IT IS AMAZING!

  • How much did that cost and how long did it take?

  • the cheapest solution is linoleum flooring. it works great and it can be dirt cheep. just try to get a smooth design. that's what i am using on my box and its great!

  • @jobebme ....me and my buddy tried that n it cracks in the cold :(

  • well... another option is fiberglass. i have it on my other box. it has not cracked on me yet and when its -30 it hold up.

  • lol prodigy

  • I want to build something just like that but i have no idea what to use for the material on the surface or where to get it...got any ideas

  • hdpe or puckboard

  • Where did you get the HDPE and how much was it?

  • rofl the hdpe is like $100 for 1/8" thick 8' long and 1' wide. use any type of plastic, then if u have to wax it.

  • us plastic co

    google them

  • hey what is that for a material where you slide!

    (sorry for my english)

  • go to a sporting good store and buy "puck board" its the plastic hockey players use to practice shooting, it works very well for sliding and is alot cheaper then HDPE. (40$ for a sheet 6 ft and like 2 1/2 feet wide.

  • or composite decking material like trex

  • HDPE

  • what did u use for the top??

  • YOU LOOK LIKE A DOUCHE

  • my friend has a box but it suckss this onees nicee

  • what do u need and how much is all that

  • well, they had about 15 2/4's and you also need a couple sheets of ply, so my estimation is probably about 40-50 dollars

  • the creamsicle was a nice touch lol

  • malamine just gets mangled if it gets wet which it will and hdpe how much does it cost lexans alright i havent had it warped but its expensive for so little 3 by 4 sheet 80 bucks yeah right

  • Just made a snowboard box using HDPE and Cold ROlled steel. Posting a instructional video very soon. Stay posted. =]

  • did you get the hdpe from a local store? ive been looking but i cant find it anywhere

  • niceee and what did you use for the top?

  • HOW MUCH DID THIS ALL COST YOU ?

  • fo free sucka

  • what is hdpe ???

i used lexan but that shit broke over time and warped

  • HDPE for THE best top sheet!

    HDPE...

  • I think Lexan is better

    Just my opinion.

  • I agree

  • like 2 feet to 2 and a half feet I didnt get directions or instructions I was like 19 when I built it I just used my imagination, i am pretty sure everybody has one of those. all you have to do is draw some stuff out on paper. buy or steal your wood. get your dads power tools and go at it. just make it sturdy with some reinforcements cause your going to be jumpin on it. I mean its going to be taking some abuse. its really easy to build stuff just make moves

  • how much does hdpe cost

  • how wide do u think that is

  • try going to a local hockey store and ask for sheet puckboard. they usually have sheets about 1/8 thick and it works really well. it slides fast is durable and doesnt crack or wear. also you can cut and drill it with normal saw blades and drill bits.and it doesnt expand or shrink in extreme temperatures

  • what did u use for the top of the box? Also how long was ur box?

  • haha he just starts eating the creamcicle out of nowhere haha

  • what the heke is with the ice pop

  • i did some research and what a lot of people use for the top sheet is high density polyethylene (HDPE)

  • does trex work good?? its like a recycled plastic stuff that they use for decks..

    please reply

  • trex is like plastic wood and it is not good for sliding on

something that works real good for sliding is called skatelite it is a little expensive though

  • thanks.. wat else works good?

i just made a box but i need a top suface thing

  • sheet metal is good and cheep but u have do something about the edges because if you fall on them they will cut you

  • melamine

  • small box but look really good

  • how much did it cost to make all together?

  • popsicle.....

  • hahahaha the creamsicle

  • thats pretty sick.... i need to biuld one of those

  • oops. shoulda read the earlier posts

  • which would u recommend, hdpe or lexan, me and my buddies are makin a whole terrain park. ALso what would be the cost and which is cheaper

  • Hey man,

I really don't recommend you use HDPE. It'd be all good for a backyard box, but if yoU're building a terrain park, you need to use the right materials. Lexan is the number 1 choice since it's very slick and doesn't deteriorate with use. It can stay on resort boxes for 10 years of use. Another choice would be UHMW, which is a higher density polyethylene than HDPE. What makes UHMW so much better is it's hardness propriety, which makes it the best impact resistant material in cold temp.

  • See reply above for your answer. In terms of cost, UHMW is less expensive. You could cover a 10 feet box for around 40$ if you have decent suppliers. Lexan is more like 200$ ++. HDPE would be around 20$, but it would get beat up fast.

  • definitely HDPE

although i couldnt tell you the cost

anyone know where i could find HDPE?

  • Home Depot

  • i don't think you can find it there, you'd need to contact a local corp that specializes in plastics. they'd definatly have it there

  • i wish i could make one that fast =[

  • I made a 10 foot box in the winter and used 1/8 plastic lexan. It worked great and everything but i had a joint in the lexan cause i couldn't find a 10 ft piece. I filled the joint with p tex but after a while when it got cold the joint expanded and i messed it up when my edge hit the joint.Went flying. Anyone know of a good box top that wont contract or expand if u have joints?

  • You can use fiberglass resin but you have to round off the edges so ur board doesnt crack it and destroy the box/board.

  • wat did you ise for the top of the box to make it slipery did you use like sheet metal or smooth plywood??

  • i heard plexiglass works for the tops too.... but i still havent made my box yet.

  • I really don't recommend plexiglass as it is a very brittle material in the cold. It will crack very fast under impact.

  • i used plexi glass bro and we sessioned the box last night, woke up this morning the plexi glass was warped, plus it cracks when you drill and it breaks suuuper easy

  • Made me Want a creamy... I used hdpe (high density polyethylene) for mine. It was expensive! but nice

  • it hasn't broken yet? hdpe usually cracks and breaks in temps under 40 i used lexan for mine. mainly because i had heard of hdpe breakin otherwise i would've used that cause its cheaper

  • i used lexan too and it works great

  • what a small box

  • wow u built that fast

    lol

  • lol on 0.28

  • is there any way you could send me the plans for that?

  • haha

  • you didnt even finish it?

  • cool

  • nicely done. make a vid of you guys shredin it id like to see that box being hit up

  • well..before i checked out some other comments...i was gonna ask what is used for the top layer..lol...looks like that has already been done..so i guess ill just say..snazzy video, i love the popsicle frames

  • what is the top layer or whatever made of

    ???

  • check out my box on my backyard box session video. i was super cheap and super easy to make.

  • what do you use for the top?

    whats you opinion?

  • TPO works the best for the top I think. It's a roofing membrane and it's hella expensive to buy, so if you happen to know any roofers that'd be the way to go.

  • That Was Hilarious When You Were Eating The Ice Cream.

  • Good job

  • what did u put on the top please tell me i really want to build my own snowboarding box.

  • i used plexy glass on mine and it works great

  • i duno the size of the box a million people ask me everyday...go to a construction site look around for some wood take it home draw up some plans and just go with it go to Lowes, HQ, Home depot and go to the back in the flooring area and look for the slickest things they have p-tex works if you can get it......its not rocket science

  • Exactly like Shven91 says... I'm gunna be making a 12 foot flat box and my top material will be Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) also known as P-Tex, the same stuff as the base of skis and snowboards. Its VERY similar to the material at snowboard hills for boxes. It has very low friction for sum buttery tricks. It can be pricey, for enough for a 12 foot box, your looking at about $100... Check out plastic industry websites for it.

  • what material for top.

  • does plexi work well for boxes?

  • do you use masonite for the top?

  • I build my boxes out of P-tex. It isn't the same as the white materials used on top of most boxes, but it is stronger and has a perfect slide. P-tex is that type of plastic wood that you can buy at hardware stores. For one like 20 by 2 it is around 30 to 40$.

  • how long did that take you?

  • wow u guys r fast... lol

  • Sweet video

can you tell me the specs. or plan

    thx

  • niiiiice! what are the measurements?

  • that was insane. also wut did you use for the top sheet of the box?

  • what material did you put on top?

  • hey wut did u use for the surface of ur box?

  • weird but... the surface looks like sheet rock
