  • Wonderful. Thank you for sharing and long may you continue singing..From your Celtic friends in West Wales. Ardderchog!

  • I had great/great/grandparents from Ireland and this song always touches the tiny piece of Irish in my soul. Lovely song, lovely voice, lovely lady.....

  • Your Mum has a grand voice and your guitar is lovely too.

  • that was awsome,my dad used to sing this and i loved it as a kid but i love it more now,,thanks,,,,did you finnish off the decorating??,, :-)

  • Wow! I'm very impressed!

  • suberb

  • One of the participants in the music project I run said "It must be wonderful to open your mouth and have a sound like that come out." Couldn't have put it better myself.

    Brilliant!

  • Well done to your mum the song sounds great. Please take a look at my version I was 13 and the time I think its a fantastic song.

  • well ya mum is game and has guts i say that , she put it over Beautiful

  • your MUM is a brilliant singer I could listen to her for ever any more songs I discovered this just by chance very very beautiful singer

  • spot on ... A1 ....

  • great one of my best songs ever, allways makes the hairs on my back stand up :-)

  • I just love her voice, she has bells in her voice, thank you both so much.

  • god bless hail hail x factor here u go mick

  • This has to be the most moving version of this song i have every heard! Im not really interested in the bigoted arguments concerning this track, but my nana was a big fan of irish songs (as she put it!) so it holds a lot of sentiment for me. Surely we have reached a place in time to get passed all the crap and just appreciate the beauty in this womans fine voice, the splendid guitar playing and the talent we are allowed to share?

  • Beautiful voice !!!!! I am not irish and this song makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on egde..............

  • Great that! I think you could sound great if you recorded it using a multitrack recorder & add some reverb to the voice. The singing lady is actually very good. Regards Gary

  • WOW! Easily as good or better than most pro versions. Amazing. Good for you. God bless.

  • nice job, well done, and your Mom besides being an attractive lady has a nice voice.

  • Bloody hell, your mam has a cracking voice! I'd say X Factor but she's too good for that!

  • good and just real thanks to the mother

  • Lovely...

I wish your mum was my mom...

  • blinding!

  • your mum sings this fantasticly, I come from an old irish family so I was brought up having this song sung to me. Your mums rendition is beautiful xxx

  • Brilliant voice for a lovely song and such a pretty Mum. Now it's your turn dude.

  • beautiful , this was sung at my godfathers funeral ... means so much to me & many many others ... ty

  • Your mum has a fine, true voice and sings this song very well. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

  • Well sung Mum. You look great. Well played laddie.

  • great voice well done loved it

  • great voice, well done

  • @disneyfire : the song in one form or another has been around a lot longer than the '70's. It isn't always a great idea to sprout Wikipedia as being a source of all knowing knowledge. Not wishing to detract from the fantastic version of the song and dilute the praise given to the artists here by digressing into a debate on the history of the "song", suffice it to say that the song has a great "tradition" and Wiki supports that assertion, which is nice, thanks Wiki.

  • u and ur mum f gret]at kidd]A was f ex

  • Right, first off, this is one of the best celtic (and I don't mean Celtic!) songs that has been passed down through a number of generations. Secondly this is probably the best (traditional) version of the song. I am torn between Dropkicks and this. I think, although I love the Dropkicks, this just pips it. It looks like it was a lot of fun recording it and "me an' me mum" have done a fine job, I wouldn't mind seeing more if you can be bothered!

  • @fromageism thank you very much for the compliment and we will do more but my mum lives in england and i live in ireland so its a little difficult but we`ll defo do something else

  • @fromageism This is an excellent version, but as for the claim of "generations"..this song was written by Pete St. John in the 1970's. There was a claim of a similar song in the 1880s but nothing came of it.

  • @fromageism This song has been rumored to have been written as early as the 1880s....but Pete St. John is actually credited with writing this song in the early "70s and wasnt even recorded until 1979

  • @fromageism this was written by pete st john in 1979, who also wrote many other greats including dublin in the rare old times....

  • It's a shame somebody ripped the piss at the start of the video with te speech bubbles. Great song which has a huge significance and the piss takers obviously don't understand what this song stands for and the meaning behind it. It is nice to have this sang so well and effortlessly. Nice one guys!

  • @fromageism JUST TURNED THEM OFF PAL

  • thanx for all nice comments

  • Great voice, good sung. Respect.

  • fair play woman great singer

  • DeenKaz not only was your comment disrespectful to my mate Darren and his Mother but it was especially hurtful to me. I thought that this version of this song was absolutely astounding. I hope to catch up with you in person someday so i can discuss this with you further. meanwhile why don't you either just completely fuckoff from Darren's youtube profile or alternatively tell me your name, address and mobile number so I can come and do a medley with you?

  • youve got a mum to be proud off
