well if you're referencing the school voucher program, I'm definitely with you in some instances. i've had quite a few friends from lower income urban neighborhoods attend private high schools/academies. As a result of the voucher program to help them pay for tuition, they're much better off than what they would be at an underperforming city school in the ghetto. First, the preamble of the Constitution establishes no powers or rights. It merely states the purpose of the Constitution. Second, the heading of Article 1, Section 8 mentions "general welfare" in the context of "the United States", followed by enumerated powers to accomplish this, none of which mention Education or Health Care. These are State issues.

I'd argue that a free market is entirely controlled by it's participants (buyers and sellers), and any flaws stem from the participants, which have a natural self-interest in protecting themselves and directly pay for poor decisions, where success is directly tied to providing better services to others, encouraging personal responsibility. No other system gives such direct control, freedom, and accountability to individuals.
The free market is controlled mainly (not entirely) by a very few at the top that have a majority of the wealth, thus creating an even larger wealth disparity between the middle class and top 1% of incomes. There's no doubt that the free market breeds innovation and competition, yet trade agreements such as NAFTA have had adverse affects on local sustainable economies and American job loss overseas (due to tax breaks and loopholes). Sure, it gives control to individuals, but very few.
Ppl here are referring to Federal Gov "running our lives". I doubt anyone here is against State Gov. Also, we haven't had a free market in health care in over 50 years. The Fed Gov has been meddling with it for quite some time now, and the more they meddle, the more costs go up. A large part of that "50 million" are either non-citizens, already eligible for Medicaid, earn over 50k, or earn enough (50k+) to pay for insurance if they want.

well if you're referencing the school voucher program, I'm definitely with you in some instances. i've had quite a few friends from lower income urban neighborhoods attend private high schools/academies. As a result of the voucher program to help them pay for tuition, they're much better off than what they would be at an underperforming city school in the ghetto. But if the private school's money gave her/him a free scholarship, wouldn't that be a principle of socialism? haha j/k

First, the preamble of the Constitution establishes no powers or rights. It merely states the purpose of the Constitution. Second, the heading of Article 1, Section 8 mentions "general welfare" in the context of "the United States", followed by enumerated powers to accomplish this, none of which mention Education or Health Care. These are State issues.

Likewise, people go to Europe because they have advanced transportation infrastructure, invest more money in the math & science fields of education, and are willing to pay higher taxes. most if not all should be gone and are redundant to start with...,,not sure about FBI...havent neard the arguments pro and con....I think it should be be very rare for the supreme court to ever be used....states need to stay within themselve as much as possible....now how much freeier would you feel with the lose of the stress and feeling of contempt of the IRS...is it all unconstituional and unneededand ..it all about ower and control of the people when wea re supposed ti be in control....

Care to elaborate on these free market flaws you speak of? I'd argue that a free market is entirely controlled by it's participants (buyers and sellers), and any flaws stem from the participants, which have a natural self-interest in protecting themselves and directly pay for poor decisions, where success is directly tied to providing better services to others, encouraging personal responsibility. No other system gives such direct control, freedom, and accountability to individuals.

The free market is controlled mainly (not entirely) by a very few at the top that have a majority of the wealth, thus creating an even larger wealth disparity between the middle class and top 1% of incomes. There's no doubt that the free market breeds innovation and competition, yet trade agreements such as NAFTA have had adverse affects on local sustainable economies and American job loss overseas (due to tax breaks and loopholes). Sure, it gives control to individuals, but very few.

Ppl here are referring to Federal Gov "running our lives". I doubt anyone here is against State Gov. Also, we haven't had a free market in health care in over 50 years. The Fed Gov has been meddling with it for quite some time now, and the more they meddle, the more costs go up. A large part of that "50 million" are either non-citizens, already eligible for Medicaid, earn over 50k, or earn enough (50k+) to pay for insurance if they want.

I agree that we must hold our elected leaders accountable, but this socialist fear rhetoric is a bit divisive with people using sensationalized imagery trying to connect Obama with USSR or Hitler symbols at these tea party rallies. These images have a tendency to reinforce racist attitudes towards our President. If we can have an honest debate w/ substance rather than a mudslinging match, then I'm all for it. Also could you cite that 50 million study (or provide a link). thanks.
