I'll never forget William Cooper. He was one of the first voices I heard. This video really speaks to my heart. I too knew an unsung 9/11 hero. Heroine actually. A woman who worked in emergency services. It was her day off but she insisted on going to help smoke inhalation victims at ground zero. She was friends with many firefighters who died that day. Her own health was destroyed from inhaling all the toxins in the air. I think of her often. Thank you, friend. Brilliant and moving video.

What I think? I truly believe every human is a potential hero. We all have a primal instinct that instructs us to disregard our own safety in service to others. That's a thing that elevates us beyond animals... although I also believe some animals have that instinct too... It's LOVE... The purest kind of it... not a trade of service for another service, or admiration, or a medal, anything - just love.

Yup, there are more heroes around us than we know about. The people who do their best when it's hard,those who stick it out when it costs them more than they'll ever get out of it. I''ve got to say one thing though- Hunter Thonpson was exactly the kind of guy to do just what he did- brilliant but nuts. I miss him just the same.

I agree, he was out there but if you really did like him like you said, I would encourage you to look into the story. Smells like murder and even if he wanted to end it all (which he didn't) he wouldn't have done it that way. Also- he was pretty clear in interviews prior to his untimely death, that he was FIRED UP about his new book re: 911. He was wacky but still a granpa, just the same. He WAS however a kindhearted person...not the cold-hearted man his "suicide" story would have you believe.
