Regarding the spelling of Samhain, as in the irish gaelic word, it actually doesn't have an 'e' at the end of it.
Also, it always makes me laugh how in anything I've seen the word in (Ghostbusters, Halloween III etc...) it's always pronounced 'sam hain' but in actual fact the correct pronunciation is 'sow-an.' In the irish language an 'mh' is a 'w' sound.
Oh, and the character Samhain was definitely one of the best that the Real Ghostbusters ever had.
In the notes and script material, "Samhain" is listed as a single word, as it should be. It was only the screw-ups that came later who didnt know diddly and put 'Sam Hain' on the action figure and tomstones.
@Tomarlo also if your gonna be rude like that make sure yoy give how to properly say the name, Samhain = Sal Whein(pronouciation) and before you say "thats not right bulllllllshit bull bull shit bull shi etc " its discussed on the rgb box set, and its in several celtic spirit guides.
@AtticusRh0des For one thing, I wasn't being rude, my comment was about the way the word was used, I was merely pointing out to the person that posted it that the Irish word Samhain doesn't have an 'e' at the end of it, they didn't take offence, why should you?
Secondly, I live in Ireland, I grew up in Ireland and learned Irish at school every day of my life for 13 years, regardless of where it is discussed or written, the way I wrote it is the way it's pronounced by Irish speakers.
here i am watching supernatural when they mention samhain, and immediately i thought about this 20yr old cartoon and had to look it up on youtube. i love how supernatural takes real lore and folk tales and weave them into a story.
Samhaine was definitely one of the baddest ghouls in the RGB universe! I use to draw him, Boogaloo, and the Boogieman all the time as a kid. Interesting how Samhaine's face looks like the Jack-O-Latern on the cover of John Carpenter "Halloween" movies; especially (00:20 - 00:40)
Wish you could watch FULL-LENGTH hi-res quality EPISODES of your favorite 80's cartoons and not just the opening credits? Now you can! Just Google: "Nostalgia Manila" and you'll find the blog. Now playing FULL-LENGTH episodes of: Thundercats, The New Adventures of Batman, Silverhawks, The Smurfs, and Classic Looney Tunes Favorites Merrie Melodies!
Since we're on the subject of Samhain, the band started by Glenn Danzig is quite awesome as well. It'd be cool if one of those songs had found its way onto a Halloween episode of RGB.
Anyone notice how Janine changed (like... she got rid of her pointy glasses and got rid of the bronx accent)? I read that after the show got successful ABC brought in consultants to mess with the show and make it more kid-friendly. Then they put in that stupid adventures of slimer crap with the pizza guy. This pissed off the head writer, the one who wrote the boogie man, sandman, and samhaine episodes so much that he quit the show and the episodes started to suck.
Since Lorenzo was the first Venkman, he will always have a place in our hearts. But since he was in more episodes than Coulier (that first season had what, 80 episodes?) Lorenzo got the last laugh. Coulier grew on me though, and I accepted him.
My last name is "Finnigan" therefore we are almost brothers. (Why did you think I love Halloween in the first place? :pppppp )
Therefore, as a duly inherited representative of the Irish People, I hereby proclaim that "Samhaine" is correctly spelled with an "e" because thats how it appeared in the original script for this episode. And since this is all fictional (we hope), it gets dibbs. ;)
Not bad, hardly so at that. Samhain...is a festival...of course only we irish would know that...there is no "E"... We "hope" that it is fictional? No, we do not... Samhain is a festivity that celebrates various things. Its practice today remains under the Catholic guise known as "Halloween" from when THAT religion spread through our lands
I was "hoping" that Samhaine the "Ghost of Halloween" who wants to bring eternal darkness to the land is the fictional one.
Samhain the festival is quite real and has been for a LONG time, as we all well know. But for the purposes of this video clip, religion has little to do with anything. Any troubles with catholicism should be brought up with the Pope, for you'll accomplish little by posting here, picking on a defenseless cartoon.
Only we Irish? I am Irish but I don't appreciate this superiority crap like being Irish is somehow glorious. It's just an accident of birth. All humans are equal(ly crap) with very few exceptions and those exceptions have nothing to do with race, ethnicity, religion or anything other than individual talent.
I wasnt playing the superiority card with our young visitor, rather the "You Jumped to an Unwarranted Assumption With an Off-Topic Rant and Got Smacked for it" Card. He comes in here with an anti-christian rant, which had nothing to do with anything, so my main goal was to shut him up by flashing my family tree. I dont believe I demeaned anyone else in the process.
It is spelled Samhain...pronounced Sow-en...and it is the forefather of this "Halloween" holiday... It is my people's ancient holiday....I like mocking you.
(You can call up the Ghost of Halloween himself and ask for his opinion if you are that upset, but its hardly worth getting excited about. My Irish blood says its ok, as do the dozen Halloween costumes in my closet, and the proportionately carved Samhaine pumpkin head sitting on my front porch as we speak. Do us Irish adults a favor and get your jollies in a more productive way than "mocking" anyone, we are better than that.)
This is what video shows up when I search for Bogeyman? Anyhow...Samhaine? With an "E"... It is spelled Samhain and it is pronounced Sow-En not Sam Hane...This is religiously offensive... My people's ancient holiday mocked this way.
Just a couple of points -

Which episodes did this guy appear in? I'd appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.
DataGirl3 3 years ago
His first ep was "When Halloween Was Forever"
Then this one "Halloween 2 1/2"
After that, its just 5 sec cameos here and there whenever the Ghostbusters go inside the containment unit for one reason or another.
"Xmas marks the Spot" for example (also uploaded here), and there's a couple more whose titles I dont know, but wikipedia does.

Samhaine is the ultimate RGB villain. Loved his episodes. Never noticed when I was a kid his slight Irish accent. lol Thanks for the upload.

Dave Coulier's Venkman, despite sounding more like Bill Murray, is inferior to Lorenzo Music's take on the character. Well I think so anyway.
