@vitalrocker The closest one I've heard of was in Cedar Rapids( but that's too far). I want to get airsoft started over here. There is a paintball field called Best Shot about 25 minutes from where I live, I havn't checked with them yet.

@TheDredRed ya I have heard of best shot but i want to start and Dubuque team....Cedar Rapids is to far....I don't see why Dubuque cant just open a field outside of the city. if you hear anything else plz let me know
I've never owned a decent one, so I can't really say- never actually played in a game with one. I'd say if you were going into it, start with a decent AEG and branch out from there. If nothing else you're going to need some kind of backup if the enemy finds your sniper position. :D Cost of a game depends on the event- our old weekend games were basically free but big events cost. Check out the AI forums (see video info) to see what events are out there and what the costs of each might be.
and are full metal airsoft guns legal here, and do you recommend anything in particular for beginners, ive been in paintball and i want to switch over.
So far as I know yeah- a lot of the guys have 'em. I've only got one really- an MP5A5 I've never actually gotten to use at a game. I haven't kept up with some of the developments in airsofting lately, but in general Tokyo Marui is still a great brand to start with. As for what gun to get, that's harder to recommend. I started with a FA-MAS but you might want to get something with mags that are more common. Nearly everyone has either an MP5 or an AR-whaterver or M-16 somewhere in the arsenal.
@L96Headshot Yeah, well, we had a 1J limit at our field so anything too much hotter than stock CA would have been banned anyway. Besides the fact that our woodland games could get nearly CQBish once all the weeds grew in (they hadn't by the time that video was shot) it discouraged a culture of upgrade arms races like you see in some other clubs.
We used to, but I don't know what we've been up to lately- with no field of our own it's a little harder. There was a group south of Des Moines looking to hold games on Fridays... Dunno if they're still doing that off hand. Been busy and out of the sport for months now.
The regular weekend games, which this was, were just playing around with friends really... Only with a lot of friends. In the big "op" games we had multiple missions with definitive goals, but the weekend games were just "attack this, defend that" one-off skirmishes, etc. We also played a game called Escalation a lot, in which there were no bases to defend... Rules for that are posted somewhere on the AI website (see video info).
Are right lol 'retired' sorry only realised that onse it started...

You can see if anything is mentioned on the AI website (see video info for details). I haven't ever been in that part of the state so I can't say.

@araquan I HATE TM.... you pay for the name, and low FPS... nothing you can't upgrade, but it's just too expensive
