What a Bullshit!
In that age the country that actually we connect with the word "Spain" didn't exist yet. It was just a geographical place (IBERIAN PENINSULA) with many rival kingdoms.
Later, the NEW country that appeared from the union between Castile and Aragon, PICK UP its name by a pretentious, conflictual and unjust appropriation (theft) of terminology "Hispania-spain".
It isn't so easy like a game of words, but a question of the SEMANTIC meaning of terms in his original context and time!
