  • i gots to get me one of these

  • Ordered mine :)

  • ESP Exploreres Own!

  • @meah941 wat u can't handle big frets? are you a girl? u think ur cool cuz u can play fast on a shred guitar but it takes real skill to play on a les paul. I'm god.

  • what amp do u have? if its a line 6 spider can u please tell me the settings for the tone of sweet child?

  • low 1 high 7 gain4 :)

  • this or the epiphone black beauty

  • Holy Shit, That acoustic pickup sounds great! I gotta get me one of these!

  • where did you learn to play like that

  • Comment removed

  • i like turtles

  • @chupac1986 lol

  • ive never played an epi lp ultra 2, but, i have an epi lp ultra, and i have not come across many gibsons that i would even concider trading for my lp, dont get me wrong, gibsons are nice too, but... i just prefer my lp.

  • y do u have to this in a dark place??!!

  • good review man you showed what i wanted to know about this guitar i must have it

  • Why do people always say that an Epiphone is not gonna be as good as Gibson? Because the quality of actual Gibson's varies horrifically!!

The Factory in China was specifically built to Gibson's standards and in many cases now, some of the guitars produced there have blown away Gibson's on several occasions.

I've owned US, Jap and Mex fenders - and the Mexican fenders are FAR better than US made ones.

Also, failure of a worker for anything less than perfection in China can land them in prison.

  • I have on that i bought 2 months ago and i want to sell it if you`re interested just let me know I live in UK so no overseas postage. I can put it on Ebay anytime you want for 650 o.n.o. pounds with Epiphone hard case and Marshal MG30DFX

  • hahaha!! crap it broke already!

  • broke how?

  • that's what he said at the end. I thought it was funny.

  • what a beauty :) i want one im saving up btw where did you buy it ?

  • @TheOfficialJesseHolt u can get it on musiciansfriend

  • thats a pretty cool guitar .... im buying me one this christmas

  • this is a pretty nice guitar, ive played them and they sound pretty good through a marshall combo amp, forget what the model amp was, but it sounded pretty good, but i do like the gibson lp studio a little better, but its a great guitar 4 the price!!!

  • OMG u need the pinch harmonich LOL... i have played in one year and i can play that OMG you sucks !!

  • dude, a lot of people can't play pinches. I only learned them like two years ago (about 5-6 years after I started)

  • Thank you for the good information!!!

  • you are so cute!

  • nice man i never heard of the nano mag thingy thats great you should instal a coil tap

  • What's betr this or the Gibson les Paul studio in terms of value for money

  • epiphone

  • epiphone.

  • epiphone man

  • well ... epiphone ultra ii is much better than the gibson lp studio ... the studio version in my opinion is a guitar to have and say to your friends : hey guys i have a gibson! not an epiphone :P

  • yeah!XD

  • It's a great guitar (i own one) the only cons i see on this guitar is that the acoustic is not nearly as good as a real acoustic guitar through an amp. the input jack is very poor quality, i have to jam my cable into the guitar and everytime i pull it out.. it will loosen the screw that holds it and after a while it will come off if it is not rescrew. the plate that holds the two input holes is also very poor quality.. it will crack easly and soon enough break in half.

  • i would recommend a epiphone standard guitar.

  • its an epiphone thing

  • if your gonna buy a gibson makes epiphone the only difference is the name labeled on the guitar... and maybe sometimes the quality of the product but overall they sound alike... im a poor college student so no one in hell am i gonna spend 2 grand on a guitar

  • very good review thanks im in the market for a epiphone les paul .and i believe i want one of those.sounds good.thanks again for your time to chat about that guitar it helped me out.

  • Perfect review. i tried lookin up others, but once i found this one, i found everything i wanted to know. thanks, man. keep playin

  • this is a nice guitar..

    4:40 what song is that?

  • My Fist, Your Mouth, Her Scars by Bullet for My Valentine

  • i just bought the same guitar 2day

  • This is really, really good review. Thanks a heap, and good playing. :D

Just wanted to know, is there an amp you'd recommend to get/upgrade to, to get with the Ultra-II without turning yourself bankrupt? :p

  • please see my cover of stairway to heaven solo please!

  • I played Gibson for about 1 year.. but I play Epiphone now. I really think it's much better.

  • this white thing under the magnets can it be removed?

  • Yes, you have to unscrew 3 screws, then its just removed, its mostely for the look

  • great review, I'm happy i got one of these guitars!

It was broken thou so i had to send it back to the shop for fixing. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

  • Great review :D

    You rock!!!!!!!

  • Right guys if you would compare the Ultra II to a gibson studio then i think that the studio wins but this guitar is really good, among the beast Epi.

  • I think that the studio is a lower end Les Paul. With a good pickup upgrade, the Epiphone's better (and prettier).

  • Like Gibson Dirty fingers mic.

  • Loved the sweet Child part !!! Awesome !!

  • this or a prs for around the same price ( if ur gonna give a price try in pund coz im a brit no $ plz)

  • which would be better a gibson les paul studio , or this guitar?

  • obisly the gibson wat a stupid question

  • Not stupid at all. Gibson Studio LPs are known for their dodgy quality control.

Sometime a higher range Epiphone comes out better than low-end Gibson.

  • i think it's not an stupid question , considering that the les paul studio is a low end gibson and the ultra 2 has nice features such as grover tuners and the nanomag , and in most cases people say it just because of the brand , like "if it says gibson it's better " even if they're getting a better sound with a cheaper guitar...

  • and even if the studio is better, it still costs 400 dollars more. so for people with a low budget that can't afford or don't want to spend so much money on a studio, this is a great affrodable guitar.

  • i would play both, i like my studio but then again i am adding similar things like the acoustic pickup to my studio now. try both first

  • Gibson costs much more just because of the name.. just because of it's called "Gibson". But it's not really better than Gretch or Epiphone.

  • i have an epiphone les paul and i had gold plated pick ups and if you dont clean them evertime you play it then they will tarnish really fast i made teh mistake of not cleaning it eavry time i played it and now my pickups are half gold half silver

  • that's with almost any guitar though I have a jackson kelly MF signature, and it catches so much dust, guitars require allot of care!

  • Gold doesn't tarnish.....

  • epiphones gold plated stuff does

  • over time, youll end up getting a probolem with your acoustic pickup, i had 1 for a year or so, over that 1 year, i went through 6 of these. they sound great though. anyway, you should be getting probolems with the acoustic pickup and the pickup switch, i would recomend a standard epi, those are much better because they have lower technology.but nice playing!!

  • Could it be possible the battery needs replacing?

  • Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. I have a different hybrid guitar and when the battery dies, not only the acoustic but the magnetics die (!). Weird but true.

  • you might be right pelosmcpelos but on mine im playin it 4 hours a day for over a year and nothings happened

  • nice!!! i guess mine was a dud, or, all 7 were!!! lol

  • for 700 buy a schecter tempest and put a new bridge pickup in like a gibson dirtyfingers or some other awsome pickup way better than any epiphone guitar you will ever find!

  • bullcrap... ;)

  • agreed, almost anything is better then an epi, but this guitar has revoloutionized the reputation of epi

  • What a f'n versatile range of clean sounds. Each note sounds like a bell chime. I can't even describe it. Spend some time with one at your local dealer and you'll understand. I am so glad I broke away from all the 'metal' guitars I own you all don't even know!

  • I own this guitar. Let me tell you all something, this guitar is as visually stunning as it sounds. I am by far an absolute metal head. All guitars I've ever owned were metal guitars with hot pickups. This is NOT a metal guitar. Pinch harmonics aren't the best but it still has great sound for metal. But the clean tones, the nano-mag, JeeZus--its simply incredible. This is where the Ultra II excels. I am overwhelmed with disbelief when I hear it play clean or slightly overdriven.

  • sounds awesome!

  • First of all: Props to this mother fucker for his review and playing. Nothing I hate more than a "review" which is really a 14 year old trying to play riffs on his new axe.

  • haha thanks.

now that i'm using thing in recording and have MUCH more experience, i plan on doing an update review of it.

  • epiphones are made by gibson in the same factories. there usualy made at of the same wood and materials and have very similar pickups. epiphones are awsome. ULTRA II rules !!!!

  • Gibson's ARE Epiphones. They use the same wood and practically identical factories make the guitars. With Gibson, your paying for the name. Big time. Epiphones all the way! :D

  • That's not necessarily true. They use the same types of wood, but not the same grade of wood. And If you say Maple is Maple, and mahogany is mahogany, you obviously never seen a maple neck on a low end squier compared to a custom shop Fender neck. Gibsons are hands down better guitars, but they are overpriced though. Epiphone's can be really good guitars with a few mods

  • I really want this guitar but im worried about the chambered body and was wondering if the guitar still has great sustain even with the chambered body?

  • does the epi les paul standard have a chambered body too?

  • I've thought about it too...

And then I wonder if this guitar has the same kind of fat LP sound like the Standards.

I'd like to get something close to Slash's guitar tone, but I don't know if this is the right one for it. I would buy a Epi LP Standard, but I heard they're poorly made... is it true?

  • yea you can get a similar tone to slash if you get the right settings.

  • hi really good informative demonstration

    thanks for sharing

  • hey mate nice presentation n playing! what amp are you using?

  • in this i'm using a line 6 spider 3 30 watt. it's good for begginers but i don't suggest it if your experienced and are looking for a good tone. go for a tube amp.

  • well i'd love a tube amp but i dont want to spend that much on an amp..tnx anyway!

  • for a gig worthy amp, i've found that my peavy vypyr 75 does pretty well, but you would need a tube if you wanted to record

  • ive been looking at this guitar for a while it feels real good cause your hand can slide around the neck but the 700 hundred price tag is killing me do you know any places were it would be a bit less

  • I'm thinkin about gettin this guitar gut I found a Gibson les paul studio limited for a bout 800 euro. Any advice? Great review by the way.

  • i got the midnight black one, it rocks!

  • Comment removed

  • iwantiwantiwantiwantiwantiwant, the sunburst version

  • very good playing. good review. this guitar seems too good for me for the moment, but imma buy it anyways...cause it just felt right in my hands today.

  • I'm pretty interested in buying this guitar, so I'm just wondering.... is there anything that's really missing on it? What would, in your opinion, be the weakest spot of a guitar(apart from the batteries)? I don't really have much money, so I'm probably gonna have to use it for like the rest of my life. This guitar looks as if it is good enough for me, but I want to make sure.

  • if i had to choose one thing wrong with it, (actually the only real thing wrong with it.) is that since the jack plate is a dual output, the area in between the jack outputs is weak. I have had my jack plate crack twice on me. keep in mind, gibson will replace it free, but you just gotta be careful, it's easily avoidable

  • That's hardly a problem, man, I'm crafty, I could even make a metal replacement for it. Thanks a lot, btw, nice review. Keep on playing!

  • well there you go, if you make a successful replacment, send me one, lol

  • Please, what is the name of the song after Sweet Child O' Mine. Btw: this is realy good guitar, i really like it, no, i love it :D

  • i want to know what it is too! :(

  • 2 jacks? second jack for what?

  • Ok accoustic pic-up i wasn't watch end.

  • yah. One is for Both sets of pickups, the nanomag, and the the standard Set(stereo). The other is jack is just for the Acoustic pickup, (mono).

you can run them both at the same time on different amps and get a pretty cool effect.

  • The accoustic demo is realy good. And your guitar is pretty nice.(The Drive tone is great) What's your distortion and drive pedal? I'll buy a new guitar. And it may be epi lp standart plain top. I want sound like this. Can i got it with standart?(Sory i ask too many questions cause i'm new on guitar. :))

  • well, in my opinion, i f you want this sound, then get this guitar. this is a semi holloe body, while the standard is solid, that alone will change the overall sound, add in the versatility of the nanomag, and i would go with this one, (if you've got the money) if not, the epi standards are still decent.

  • I've got money but i'm live in Turkey. guitars are expencive in there.(about of 1100$) I think i'll buy a standart. Thanks for advice.

  • wow, now i kno what guitar to get next. i was thinking of getting this but had second thoughts but now i know its a great guitar. Thanks! =)

  • nice, looks like you take care of it pretty well too.

  • i try, ha

  • hey what r ur settings for ur nanomag?

  • dont remember

  • nice review, i gotta get one dude

  • nice one dude nice guitar too

i was wondering i might get one but are there alot of things that can go wrong on it?

  • not that i know of.

actually, i broke the jack plate twice because i stepped on the cable and it snapped the plastic jack plate, but gibson replaced both within a week, and if you just don't step on your junk, you'll be ok, but it's a very well built guitar, i play it everyday like a work horse, and it's holding up nice.

  • i have a epiphone les paul custom(white) made in 2003, since they don't make white ones anymore. What do you think is better? Ultra II or Custom?

  • definitely the ultra II, all the way.

the difference is the nano mag, and you just can't beat it's versatility, it adds so much to not only the clean sound but overdriven and distorted sounds as well.

  • Overall, it's a good guitar?

  • overall it's a great guitar,

one of the best and most versatile in it's price range in my opinion.

  • hey its me again thanks for the tip i will think about it

  • hey hello its me ehhhh i have a ibañezrg4ex1 do you think that is good for the punk music?

  • if you've got the right amp, and you run it with the right effects, i don't see why not. thats a pretty ibanez, although i'm not a huge fan of them.

  • Good Review Bro i just got mines for $650 midnight ebony. Hope it plays as well as you say oh and btw i laughed when u said the guy at the guitar store came back and said "batteries" lol

  • yah i about kicked my own balls when he told me that. i couldn't believe i was so stupid. lol

  • how much you buy it man??

thank you plzzz message if you see this comment

    ^_^

  • i think around 600 hundred

  • how much bass, treble and gain nanomag settings did you use in the song??

  • honetsly man, i couldn't tell you.

it was a while ago, but chances are they are all up, i've actually toned in a better setting that i like now, and that is with the neck pickup volume halfway on, nanomag all the way up,

on the back of the guitar

gain all the way up, bass midway, and treble 3/4th

mess around with it and you'll find a good setting.

  • oh yer i know wat strings they are! they are gibson brite wires or sumthing like that

  • hey man great reveiw...im getting one of these soon in the black colour...the cherry burst doesnt take my fancy...i just gotta slash les paul gold top...i dont no y...but these guitars are great for players that want a 2 in 1 guitar!!!!...wen i get it ill be puting it to the teset aginst my fender stratocaster 2007!!i recomend this so get out there and find one!!

  • thanks a lot for your review...i was wondering if i wanted to buy this guitar or not, since im not the biggest guy and my bargain basement epiphone gets heavy after a while. i like playing everything too, so i was wondering how well it would hold up playing metal.

  • Good for metal like Judas Priest or Saxon??, Is the white plastic piece at right of pickups removable??

    Good video.

  • honestly if you have the right effects, the right amp, and the right skills, you can play whatever style with this guitar.

but, if you want to play exclusively heavy metal i would look into something with active emg's for high output gain.

  • and yah, the pick guard is removable,

actually, i had it off for a while, but i recently put it back on.

  • you gota remember that most of these reviews of this guitar are of the factory b stock version if u want the really god workmanship and sound then its gna cost u 800 not 680$

  • Is this guitar any good for metal?? Cause I wanna be able to switch from a clean sound to a heavy metal one no problem.

  • did you watch the whole review?

and it all depends on the amp and effecs you got it goin through.

although if you want it more for metal i suggest the epiphone les paul prophecy with emg's.

  • hey hello i have a question with this guitar

¿how is the sound of this guitar on green day songs ? i think that good but i need to make sure cause i maybe gonna buy this guitar thanks

  • honestly, you can get any sound you want, it sounds great with greenday, however, that's pretty much all my friend plays when he touches it.

  • i have a question for you

could you get an ab box, plug the nano into one input and the electric into the other and kick in the nano/ disactivate the electric for those songs with acoustic & electric guitars?

  • yep, and then back and forth again, watch the guitar world review for more info on that, as i dont have a switch box.

  • That distortion that you use at 4:33 is it comming from just the gain in the guitar or the amp?? Im guessing its probbably from the amp right?? Right?!?!?!?

    plz reply back

    Ty

P.S. Great vid, loved the review.

  • yah.

i currently am not running anything through any distortion pedals, although i will be soon

  • i was wondering.. does the acoustic on this guitar play as nice as a real acoustic guitar??

  • its as good as it gets.

its better than my fender acoustic electric when it's plugged in an amp with it's fishman pickup.

  • yo dude i got an offer for a brand new lp ultra 2 guitar for 569$ nothing wrong wit it except for a few minor flaw. so what do you think??

  • well hey if it works, then i guess go for, it, but remember resale will go down on a damaged one, if you got the money to fork out, always buy new, however if you can only afford that one, then go for it.

  • kool, what does it mean if it said it was mark as a second?

  • not sure what your asking here

  • Damn i know it but I cant remember what BFMV song you wher playin

  • omg she´s so beatuiful ^_^ i think i gotta get one ultra 2 ftw xDD but i´ll try the digitech ultra metal pedal . . . see what happens ;-)

  • thanks guys i made my decision...ultra II all the way

  • how many colors does ultra 2 comes in? all i know is midnight ebony and cherry sun. i think i seen a green lookin one at the music center, don't remember if thats an ultra 2 but i remember it has 2 input cable holes on it.

  • as far as i kno, they only come in black and burst

  • ok question for anybody who can answer this.. should i get the epiphone les paul ultra II or the gibson les paul vintage. their the same price right now

  • ultra 2 because of the acruistic technology on it.

  • i'd say the ultra 2

  • the guitar has 2 input holes on it. what does each one do??

  • one is for mono sound, the other is for stereo sound

in other words, you can play just the nanomag, or you can play both nano mag and pickups, or any combo in between

  • do you need a selector switch to play acruistic sound on that guitar?? or can u still play it plug onto a amp.

  • hey man i have the same guitar i just got it. but i dont know how to set it so its heavier could you tell me how. i would really appreciate it. and by the way what heavy song were you playing?

  • aside from having the tone knob all the way and the nanomag off, its all about the amp. for this review i had m amp on the insane setting on my amp. it all comes down to the sound your amps can add to your guitar and what effects you have. put gain all the way up and put it in overdrive etc. to get the heaviest sound you can, you just play around, and the song i played was from bullet for my valentine.

  • damn I need this guitar

  • what difference is there between the epiphone les paul ultra and the ultra II?

  • the nanomag. and the looks and the price and the quality and its just cooler lol..

  • i found a web site it was muisicians friend thery selling this guitar for like $593.15 just becouse it might have a little shrch i just might get it for my birthday <:-)

  • go for it, their scratch and dents are great deals.
