good but not good enough,UN, US,EU,and china need to stop funding kenya.U think u are helping those in need, but you are promoting corruption.common man still live under poverty.stop stop stop.
everywhere you turn you see a deadbeat. cholera outbreak, idp's money stolen, mungiki leader out, youth fund ceo, US bans official,, harambee stars, housing tragedy, kimunya talking about craft,
If they will hold a press conference to say this, then they better tell us who the culprits are. Otherwise, hii ni propaganda tupu. That signal is not very powerful after all.
US is trying all they can do. most of the leaders have business and they travel alot, they send their kids to the states. what can they do? the options are limited. the US don't want to see kenyan people suffer by cutting aid. the only way is to go after amos wako and all the gang and denying them the luxury of spending our money. the point the US is trying to make is, have people talking about the issues. kenyans are paying attention and they know that the world is with them.
This ban will do nothing to help the people who are really suffering and further more it will not inconvenience the baned from any business or pleasure...
The same fools down here talking about how no one needs the US are the very people who'll be rumbling about how corruption and bad leadership is hurting Kenya. Why is it that majority of Kenyans fail to see through the cheap politics of our so called leaders. The power hungry millionaires you call MPs have anything but your interests at heart. All they care about is how rich and powerful they'll be tomorrow. I support the decision by the US to ban these guys and hope that something good happens
I think most Countrymen here miss the point here. The issues is to continue to focus the spotlight on Kenya's reform agenda. Come next week, the EU will follow suite. Perhaps sooner. With so much going on around the world, it continues to be prudent to raise the stakes. Kenyan leaders, (if at all they are that) will soon need to act.
Frankly, extreme sanctions are due. Place strategic sanctions that target companies associated with these politicians and ensure the EU tows the line.
Like it matters squirt...who really wants to go to the US anyway? Plus, who in their right minds would look to america for solutions to other countries' internal problems? All the US gives a damn about is the US, and if its in their interest to go support the most brutal tyrannies (Saudi arabia, Mobutu, Chile, Iran before '79, Iraq in the 80s, Ecuador...endless list!), they will do so.
But we are eagerly allowing ourselves to get re-colonized, even if this version has a black face...
sir... you have to understand that Kenya just like Britain, France, Germany and south Korea owe their freedom and democracy to the US. Moi accepted multiparty because of insults and pressure from Amb Hempston. Do you remember those days? This is about kenyans. the freedom we have today is because of US. Being blind to this is plain ignorance. When US banks refused to give credit to SAfrican banks the country almost collapsed and they were forced to accept blacks. US can survive without Kenya
Yes sir, u raise a valid point, and indeed the US can use its financial muscle to twist just about any country's arm (which in the near future will not be the case, because even now, China can use all the credit it extends to the US to do the same). And yes, having been in the university in those dark days, I do recall them very well.
But no human being owes anyone for their freedom - not japan, germany, or any country, even though without US help, things could have turned out different...
slapping officials with a visa ban is a wake up call. we are responsible for our action. no kibaki or any of our masters are there to help when we made accountable of our action.
The only solution is taking them to The Hague. How does this action assist the common Kenyan? Some people literally detest going to the US. Ban them or not, they have no intention of going to the US or any country abroad!
He is a very clever guy. Whoever will be next president will have to have his blessings and a firm reform agenda. I hate to see Raila Odinga in there.
