It's not often that being an all-night SRO patron to a stage performance is forever rewarding, but this one certainly was. The dynamics that evening were fascinating, as Paul and Co. really had to scramble to entertain, as the headliners were nowhere near arrival at curtain time. The Fab Faux were phenomenal.
Paul is a gift from the musical heavens. I'm very proud of him and all the things he does outside of his Late Night gig. I am especially proud of how he promoted and raved about the Broadway production of the Jersey Boys and was even more proud when my friend John Lloyd Young won the Tony Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Frankie Valli in 2006. It was his first real gig ever. And I'm happy that Paul had them on Late Night. Yet...the Fab Faux, what can anybody say , exceptional! The Best
I was at the first of the two shows. It was an absolutely astonishing show. One of the best I have ever seen. Whatever happened to the DVD that was supposed to be released? Twice it was slated for release and twice it was pulled. What gives? Thanks - GT
On keyboards is a great musician named Rob Arthur.....works with Frampton, also has filled in with the Fab Faux many times...a real talent. This song really would have done Mike Smith proud.
Paul Shaffer and Will Lee are two of the most incredible UNSUNG HEROES of the music industry. The stuff they do on Letterman is great of course, but they do so much extra-curricular stuff that folks don't know about. Expecially Shaffer. I hope someone does a tribute to these guys some day. They may not have a catalog of hit records, but they have been such a huge part of the music scene for years, it's f*cking incredible. This is just one example. Thanks Paul! Thanks Will! You guys truly ROCK!
Great performance. My wife and I sat at the front center table for the first show and still have vivid memories of a fab evening. Thanks for sharing. Please check out the videos I posted from the evening. Search on my name eugeneBo.
Nice arrangement...well done. I always kept my tubes warm back in '64-'65 for all the good stuff that was eminating thru my little 4 inch permanent magnet speaker.
That was excellent. He would've loved that I'm sure. It was all before my time, but I love 60s music. Mike had a voice in a million, one of the best power vocalists ever.
I cannot believe how well they reproduced the DC5 sound on this great tune. I'm going to check the Fab Faux out a little further. I had never heard of them before now. RIP Mike and Denny. Your fantastic music lives on. Your were a class act.
I've seen the Fab Faux a few times. They do a great renditions of Beatles songs but it's NOT likley they'll be including DC5 numbers. they are the Fab Faux after all
I've seen set lists where they incorporated The Kinks, Spencer Davis, Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Cream and The Chamber Brothers, so why not some DC5 one of these days?
Hope to see this tune repeated on the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction show. If you listen to this cut with eyes closed, the production is spooky right-on. Sounds just like my old turntable from 1964.
Hey Rich; Do I recognize that shirt from the second season of " The Sonny and Cher Show" ? I,m not really sure which one of them wore it....Great playin, lads! longview Ed
wow. here's what I like about the fab faux. they RESPECT the music. How do I know? because they let it speak for itself and recreated it in an almost magical way. no roller coaster vocals, no rewriting the melody, just note for note perfection. they heard the original and, with all due respect, left it alone! brilliant.
I was very thrilled to be in the early audience of this show. With all the problems with getting the Zombies to the venue, it was a team effort of everybody in this line up from Paul Shaeffer and his band, the fab faux, Billy J Kramer, and others that i can't remember at this time to produce a great tribute show. Mike was proud of it, humbled - When is the DVD coming out?

What a great version. Sort of gives a hint the power of that band (DC 5) regardless of who wrote what and who played what in the studio.

Nice. I can't believe the DC5 never got the respect they deserved by the RARHOF. They probably should have boycotted it in protest.
