  • Im a Noob so dont make fun of me, but is the coil spring the spring being replaced if I wanted to install Eibach? or is there another spring above the Shock absorber? I drive a w124 mercedes. Thanks in advance.

  • @Hansman381 Just one spring at each corner with a total of 4 springs on the car. To answer your question yes the big spring you see in the video is the one that needs to be replaced. Their is no spring above the shock absorber. If you plan on doing this yourself I don't recommend it for someone who isn't very skilled because the spring is in your face and its very scary.

  • @chrisfball12 yeah I plan on taking to a mercedes shop, I really appreciate your prompt response, thanks. Thumbs up for your video!

  • hey, how would you remove springs off a Mercedes C200 - W202 please?

  • @dipzwun Its the same was as in my video. This applies to most newer Mercedes today also.

  • hahaa! I love it Chris. The way you move around the area and the video clarity makes me feel like I'm there with you! I didn't realize until now how much effort it would take to replace the rear shock...and I'll be doing the same thing in about a week...waiting on shock. Thanks for sharing! :)

  • @javelinAM You can remove the rear spring faster without the Mercedes spring compressor but it will be harder to install it. I only do what you see in the video because I layers of safety Jack under the control arm, spring compressor, and spring is held in to the lca so it wont fly away.

  • Yea I remember my first time doing a lower ball joint on a Fiat Spider 124 I had. I was prying out the front coil spring with a pry bar without a compression tool and it came flying out just missing me. Needless to say it was a lesson learned, and safety first for then on. ;) Oh and no more Fiats. Have had nothing but BMWs and Mercedes since then.

  • This guy on the video must be some dumb ass or something???

  • @Deguinn555 This guy in the video!!! Check your grammar dumb ass!!! Thanks for also adding this video on your favorites.

  • @chrisfball12 I think it's funny that most people that leave these negative comments either have no uploads at all or what little they have are pretty stupid or just plain ignorant.

  • I realise the arm obviously had to come of with that spring compressor but when I did mine I only undid the 3 outer bolts and simply lowered d arm down slowly on the jak to release the tension. Did both sides in 20mins. The hard part is lining those bloody holes back up haha. Check my page out my "show off your rides coloumb on the 190 forum. username NZ_190. Peace out New Zealand

  • @ARGElOwRiDa True i can do that way but doing it as shown in the video offers 3 layers of protection just in case something happens. Mercedes spring compressor, spring is attached to the lca, and the jack.

  • Hi there mate, I recognise your user name from a couple of places lol including the 190-uk forum. You should keep posting updates on there its a great website. And I rekon your car is pretty awesome.

  • Very nice Vid! i want to change my springs and dampers on the rear too, one question the spring-"holder" is it an original mercedes equipment?

  • @unpayable No you can find a cheap one on ebay for about $225 shipped.

  • @unpayable What year, model Merc do you have?

  • @viggoM35 1987 190e 2.3-16v

  • @chrisfball12 Yea, great car. Does it have the manual "dogleg" 5 speed transmission?

  • @viggoM35 Yes it has the 5 speed dogleg
