...Another example of a guy who doesn't realize what true skill in drumming is. Gil not only has Travis' speed and precision, but technique, and creativity. He combines blazing speed with amazing feel and technicality. Travis has NOTHING on Gil Sharone and I bet even he would own up to that.

I am missing the amazing part... So what, its fast, but is it that good? Nope. Travis is very influential and his drumming for Blink 182 was great, but his solo capabilities are crap. Anyone can single stroke around a drum set, now take that and put in rudiments and different tempos.

Gil Sharone is a great drummer, you can tell he has many influences including gospel, punk, reggae, rock, but anyways, very good drummer.

Apparently Gil learned all of +44's stuff on a flight to fill in for Barker. Now, well I wouldn't call Barker an elite drummer, he is certainly decent and learning all of his stuff on a flight is incredible. Then Gill learned all of Chris Pennie's stuff and that guy is a drum god. I thought he was also phenomenal on Ire Works. Lastly, Gil can throw down some wicked Reggae beats. Danny Carey and Bonzo are my favourite drummers, but Gil is climbing that list fast.

first of all, ocdp has horrible quality control. ive seen some ocdp kits that shouldnt have even left the shop. poorly applied wrap, disgusting bearing edges, and so on. second, they are simply kellar shells, wrap, and lugs. they dont really "make" drums. they "assemble" drums, and charge WAY too much for it. they are a horrible company.

also, i dont quite understand your mapex comment. they make outstanding drums! mapex saturns sound absolutly top notch.
