@manzik Emo's began in Houston - opened there in 1990. Emo's Austin location didn't open until... 1992? Emo's Houston closed probably around 1996, while Emo's Austin still remains open today.... Just sayin...
I grew up in southern Michigan. I saw the Laughing Hyenas live twice, thank goodness. I believe their music is pure art. I must have listened to their "Merry Go Round" record hundreds of times. I had a vinyl copy back then, and, I own a cassette tape copy now! "I see children bleeding! Screaming for their MOTHERS! They're running in the rain. Looks like they're going to be late for school again!"
Saw the Hyenas several times in LA during the late 80's and early 90's. We would stand front row with John singing along. One show to remember was at Raji's in Hollywood where we ran into Larissa before the show at a 7-11. Hung out with the band afterwards. They were great guys and girl. John even made my friend and I some audio tapes from early NA shows and Hyena bootleg stuff. Memory for a lifetime. They were a great influence for our band we started later called Firing Squad.
Thanks for posting this. I saw NA way back in the 80's and saw The Laughing Hyenas a couple times while they were around....yea....more more more video!
