Seen here at 1:00 is a good view of the Hollywood Highland station. Anyone going to the American idol perfomaces, this is where they need to get off the Red Line and go up the escalator. The station also has an elevator as well.
@lukebccb Thanks! We need to keep our cars clean in Los Angeles in order to increase ridership. In New York, the ridership is already high. Riders in NY need to protest to get the quality of service they deserve!
there's tentative plans to make a light rail line (like the one that runs in the middle of the 105) running diagonal from the blue line/green line junction at Wilmington thru Cerritos, Anaheim, Garden Grove and eventually to the Santa Ana metrolink station. this would run from OC to LAX and downtown LA with connections to East LA, Pasadena and Hollywood. I hope they get that done. LA is building a world class transit system as we speak. All the hicks talkin shit on LA eat your words in 20 years
@vivalasvegas1907 All red line. Purple and red lines run parallel to Wilshire and Vermont. Red line goes all the way to No Hollywood. Purple line currently ends on Wilshire and Western. Plan is to extend purple all the way to West Hollywood.
like we took a hot ass polluted tour bus from santa monica to hollywood and we wouldve had to wait like another 2 hours to take one downtown but we just took the metro.. .awesomeeee
@jamesrosevear You got that right! In the last year they have also automated the announcements to make them more timely and audible ... like in the Goldline!
melollylolly, this is a heavy rail (not light rail) subway system. Light rail cars are narrower than heavy rail cars, run on the streets and get power from overhead wires. Heavy rail cars get power from a third rail.
The fart system blows. LOL!

Put these train cars in the New York City subway system and within a week they'd be disgustingly filthy.

@mediaxpuppet This is a good plan. Much progress is being made such as the completion of Gold Line to ELA. Rail beats freeway lanes hands down!

did you use the purple line and then transfer to the red line

I used the redline a lot when I was in LA last year. I love the Metro rail, it is so damn convenient and it beats driving.

denny906 2 years ago
Not true. Heavy rail cars can get their power from overhead too. It happens all the time in cities in China and Europe.

Normally the trains are packed when I get on at the Vermont Avenue/S.M. Boulevard station to get to the city center even on the weekends.

light rail is a good thing..it saves money; and it helps--whether you live in north carolina; texas; or los angeles; it also helps the environment.
melollylolly 2 years ago 4
Yes, it may cost a lot of money up front, but it's well worth it in the long run!

The $5.00 all-you-can-ride daily metro pass is a real bargain.
I was in LA on business recently, and took advantage of the bus/subway system to avoid traffic jams and high parking fees.

Yes ... convenience and comfort for a great price!

yes $5 for subway and metro bus its a great deal

@kidduelists
Inflation sucks :( The $5 was well spent not having to worry about traffic and bad drivers, though.
