such a minor insignificant phrasing. I could have just left my point at " we should just error on the side of what is in the best interest of children until they are older". adding that "they have the right" was a little redundant as saying " until their older" already implies they would eventually have the right to eat what ever they see fit.
what parents feed their kids has very little to do with their future eating behaviors. My sister and brother-in-law love to eat fast food and a lot of meat, which they gave to my nephew when he was 5 years and younger. Now my nephew is 7 and loves vegetables, fruit and chicken. He doesn't care much for fast food and doesn't really like red meat or potatoes. And only eats candy if it's offered to him, he rarely asks for it. My mom fed us healthy food and my sister and I now love fast food, so...
there are stats showing that obese moms are 10x more likely to have obese daugters and obese fathers are 6x as likely to have obese sons. it makes sense. what parents eat their kids eat. its also no surprise that fat people also tend to have fat pets too. what parents feed their kids does have a major influence of their dietary habits as adults. parent have a huge influence when it comes to what their kids think. children are up to 96% likey to grow up to adopt
the religiouse beliefs and political affiliations of their parents. is it really a stretch to figure that they could also adopt bad eating habits as adults from them too? obesity is a huge problem in most first world country. our biggest problem is childhood obesity. its a health crisis and for you to sit there and claim what parents feed their kids "has liitle to do" with their future eating habits is a joke. your sister and BIL dont account for the to major tread we are seeing.
its great that the children in your family love veggies and fruit. but there are way more people who would argue its a battle to get their kids to eat carrots (one of the sweetest, healthiest, tastiest veggies around). i would argue that kids raised on eating healthy enjoy healthy foods more as adults.
@Bigpussycat5 I forgot to type that "it has been my experience that what parents..." Most everyone I know developed their own eating habits by the time they were 12, some ate the same as their parents but most didn't (not necessarily a good thing). One thing that has the most to with what foods people end up preferring over others is what the mother eats while pregnant and breastfeeding (scientifically proven). Obese parents are less active than healthy parents, less active parents lead to less
@Celebrian666 active kids. Fat pets have little do with how fat their owners are. It's people treating their pets to every little thing and feeding them 20 times a day that causes that. The fat pets I see in real life and on TV are from both obese households and healthy households. It has a lot to do with people not knowing how food or nutrition works. Parents do have influence, but so does the rest of the world. College, work, friends, etc all have an affect on the individual.
I actually like having calorie counts on menus. I was in LA and a lot of restaurants do this. It's really fucking handy and informative. Oh, that burger I wanna get is 1000 calories, man that's half my allotment for the day, I'll get that 600 one instead.
I a health food nut and I totally dont agree with Mimi. the ONLY thing i care about when it comes to people eating what ever the FUCK they want are the children. It should be criminal to feed fastfood to kids. other than that, do what ever you want.
but this is the worst episode of BS i've ever seem. sure do what you want but putting on a mom with kids talking about how she doesnt know what she would do without drive thrus... fuck it. she should have thought about that before she had kids.
parents have the biggest impact over the kind of quality of life their child is gonna live. feed them crap. they grow up to continue eating crap and get heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other nasty illnesses.
its one thing to fucking stuff your face with that shit and risk leaving your childrens lives earlier than you should.
its another thing to put them down the same distructive path.
just like its illegal to give crack, alcohol and cigarettes to kids. at one point in history, it was perfectly normal and legal to give all 3 to children. it was even considered medicine and theraputic to give, sometimes, some combination of the 3 at once. we've come a long way.
all 3 have accumulative health effects on kids in both the short and long term.
as adults we should be able to do what ever we want, even if it hurts us. but we
shouldnt have the right to feed children crap and lead them on a life style that they will suffer from as adults. its not childish at all to want to best for your future.
@Bigpussycat5 Crack, whiskey, and marlboros all have toxic effects that are infinitely more harmful than anything you're gonna try and use against fast food. Comparing fast food to cocaine, alcohol, and cigarettes is a pretty lame attempt at an argument. Kind of embarrassing, really!
infinately more harmful is truely a relative and subjective term. reality is people were giving this stuff to kids and certainly they were not all dropping dead but over time they had negative effects. it took us a while to catch on and ban the stuff. and when it comes to fast food its the same thing. we know we have a big problem with child hood obesity and diabetes. we know that this can shorten life espectancy and reduce quality of life in adults.
one can easily argue that fast food as toxic effects on the body. even have addictive qualities that make us crave it more like other unhealthy and addictive substances. we now live in a society where it can be considered animal abuse to feed fast food to our pets that cause them to get fat. people are more careful about what they feed ther dogs but have no problem giving this crap to their kids. something definately wrong. like i said, this stuff is legal, cheap and easy to buy for kids
it even part of our culture today. there were morons like you back in the day who would insist that crack was theraputic and would say exactly what you said. why? because it was normal, common and socially acceptable. people believed that ciggaretts didnt raise risk of cancer for years. and know we know better. fast food/diet also has been linked to increased risks of cancer too. we also have emerging sciences like epigenetics that show that the crap that we eat can change and fuck with our
in some horrible ways. it can also change them in such a way that we then pass on these messed up bits to our offspring so now our kids, on the genetic level, can suffer from the effects of our bad eating habits in more ways then simply just copying what mommy and daddy do.
so you can just shut the fuck up. there very well could be a day when we actually make it illegal. there are countries now moving in the direcion of banning certain foods and charging taxes on the purchase of others for
simply being unhealthy. and there are parents in america (of all places. land of the free and such bullshit). who face criminal charges for having children who are extremely obese or having children who are extremely malnurished (with shit like scurvy of all illnesses. fuck, an orange a day takes care of that shit) from eating ONLY junk food. its not cute anymore to see kids suffering form hyptertension and other diseas that old people have.
@Bigpussycat5 Look at how easily I've set you off! Five paragraphs of the same thing, but still unable to provide concrete support. In the words of McDonald's, I'm loving it:)
i dont know what counts as "concrete support" but we have more than enough to error on the side of what is in the best interest of children. if you are "loving it" good. as long as you are an adult do what everthe FUCK you wanna do.
but you should go to jail and have your kids taken away from you if you give that crap to you kids.
for the same reason why you would go to gail for giving your kids crack, alcohol or the keys to your car to drive.
@Bigpussycat5 I'm loving how people rarely acknowledge the fact that they have the option to not eat fast food. They don't need to go crying to the government, asking them to make take that option away. That's just un-American, and stupid. Here's my suggestion: instead of complaining to the government, why not spend that time going for a bike ride with your kids after that happy meal?
idiot. im talking about children. NO, they dont have a choice in the matter. they dont control what their parents put in front of them. they dont have a say. i already acknowledged that you, as an adult who is "loving it" can do what ever the FUCK you wanna do.
here is a suggestion for you. STFU, you are taking so much shit right now. clearly not paying attention.
@Bigpussycat5 Yes, I know children aren't in control either! I'm talking about how not giving them appropriate exercise is the real problem. Not fast food. Oh, and nice of choice words with that last part of your response!
"STFU, you are taking so much shit right now. clearly not paying attention."
I'm glad you, yourself, now admit that you're just farting shit from your mouth! Healthy, organic, non-fast-food shit! ROFLMFAO ;D
you said: I'm loving how people rarely acknowledge the fact that they have the option to not eat fast food. They don't need to go crying to the government, asking them to make take that option away.
in the context of what i was saying your comment was BS. and still is. my whole issue is not about what concenting adults want to eat. fast food is not an "option" for kids. unhealthy options should not
physical activity is not an answer for not getting the right amount of nutrients from a unhealthy diet. even for kids. most kids are naturally very active. especially when going to school.
if you "suggestion" should be taken seriousely you should also offer it as a solution for kids smoking and drinking. my point about how fast food being treated in the same regard as cigs and alcohol. unhealthy is not a suitable option for kids. period.
@Bigpussycat5 Nope! If it's not enough nutrients that you're worried about, that's still something that falls under the responsibilities of the parents, not the fast food industry or the law makers. Sorry! You're gonna have to do better than that!
As for your application of my fast-food-exercise suggestion to alcoholism and cigarettes, I think one of neighbor's kindergarteners had a similar idea. How adorable! You're both trying(but still learning) ;D
@TheEagerMcBeaver i am MAKING it the responsibility of the parents. they should LEGALLY not be feeding fast food to their kids. just like its their responsibility to not LEGALLY give their kids alcohol, cigs and crack. the law has no problem with getting in the business of dictating what parents can lawfully serve their kids. i just think it should be extended to include fast food. alcoholism is the abuse of alcohol. fast food can also be abused
too contributing to health issues. also after years of abuse, just like alcohol, it can be a bad addiction to recover from. the country with the highest rate of morbidly obese people is america and they are living proof of how dangerouse and deadly fast food can be. most cases dont happen over night. most morbidly obese peopl develope terrible eating habids early in life only to get out of control when they adults and they really can do what ever they want.
there are a number of parallels with fastfood that show it induces addictive traits in people. right down to its effect on the brain. so i find it interesting when you use the term "alcoholism". its a term reserves for addiction. look at you defending the right of parents to feed what ever they want. but its not really parents that should have that right. the kids should have it and we should error on the side of what is in their best interest. not what is convenient for mom
when they are older they can make that decision for themselves. they can decide to smoke, drink and eat what ever the fuck they want. but there is no rational arguement for why it should be ok to serve or eat fast food other than it tastes good. crack makes people feel good too but its not legal to give that to kids either. i would like to see crack legalized, BTW but for ADULTS ONLY.
@Bigpussycat5 In one of your four paragraph replies to me, you said it's the kids who should have the right to feed themselves and not their parents, But in the following paragraph, you said that they(the children?) should have that decision "when they are older." Are you contradicting yourself now or was that just a sloppy slip-up in your logic?
I have much more to say, but first, would like to clear that little detail up:)
I must say that fast food places ARE to blame for their almost limited supply to HFCS containing soft drinks, and let us not forget the buns on the burger being horribly packed with sugars. However, I really can't understand people who think the fat is the enemy while things like sugar are easily as bad, if not worse for you. Also, advertisements aimed at young children to make them make decisions bad for them have been around since forever in the US and blaming the fast food industry wont help.
I think that fast food should be allowed to sell what they want, its all choice. thing is you should be able to get health food at the same price. what that couple is doing to their child by giving her fast food that much should be considered child abuse.
HUMANS ARE JUST AS PREDICTABLE AS POLAR BEARS, just more complicated and more able to deny our predictability because everyone wants to think of themselves as "individuals" unlike anyone else on earth. Well, you're not... 99% of humans are just as predictable as picking a polar bear out of the population to follow. Deal with it so we can start FIXING the problems our denial is causing! Just listen to Doctor Drew and 1/2 our problems could be cured in 3 generations.
MOST of our countries problems, from crime to mental illness to addiction to cancer to obesity to multigenerational poverty is ALL a direct result the generational transmission of trauma and our unwillingness to accept the biological realities of human development. If you want to know about polar bears, you study 100 polar bears for a year... If you want to know about humans, you study 10,000 humans for 20 years. After that, you are able to predict the reactions and choices in most situations.
Not to mention the fact that if you look at the rates of both implicit & explicit abuse in this country you'll find that the rates of Obesity & Heart Disease are actually rising at approximately the same rate as abuse since it's now been conclusively proven that Trauma/Chaos/Neglect in childhood alters the epigenomic development & brain development of the victims & that survivors of sexual & physical abuse tend to put on weight as a means of keeping physical distance from people & avoid intimacy
Fast Food =/= Unhealthy Food and even when it is blatantly unhealthy, it's only "Bad" when you eat it every day. Seriously... If you eat nothing but oranges, you'll OD on Vitamin C and get malnourished. If you eat nothing but sprouts, you'll get brain shrinkage and men will lose your sex drive like you've been neutered. It's about making intelligent choices and living with those consequences.
America...we couldve had it all-but its own people and leaders are rapidily taking our freedoms away.People wanting to dictate what other people do with their own bodies. My body is my own property-not the gov.or the church or any other institution or persons.
i think penn and teller might be a bit wrong on this one... they rarely are but i dont think this is right... fast food is fine occasionally... but exercise is important too. and the theyre slagging off the skinny people like mimi but they represent self discipline and hard work, not hypocrisy. also the fast food companies dont need any more media support.. they seem to be doing pretty well on their own without being condoned by penn and teller.
No one said fast food doen not taste good... It is the way the food was grown, and what exactly we r eating that is bad.. the war is not against fast food it is what they serve.. if a fast food joint seved healthy organic food.. it would be great.. Penn and Teller are part of the conspiracy!! and this stupid show of theirs is trying to make people think that all the movements we r making to to free of this slavery are stupid and just a hype@!! Dont beleive them.. I use to until I saw the truth!
"if a fast food joint seved healthy organic food.. it would be great."
You act like Fast Food joints are the only place that sells unorganic food. Your local burger joints, almost every restaurant near you, none of their food is healthy.
Stop acting like you're some food-nutrition expert. you're not. People can eat what they want to eat. You don't have the RIGHT to tell others what to eat.

If eating fastfood is unhealthy, why can't I choose to be unhealthy? Why does someone (government) have to say "you can't do that because it is a bad for you" No shit, I want to eat like a hog, so allow me to do it without your decision. I'm also close to being under-weight.
@piemonkey321 I think u r a lil confused. Ur body looks good on the outside becayse u work out.. but it does not look good in the inside if u eat lots of fast food.. do ur research.. I wish u the best!! peace!
we all know fast food is unhealthy, but if you eat it in moderation... no reason to hate on it. if a person wants to eat unhealthy... who are we to tell them not to?
The biggest problem with food is not simply the fat content, it's the added sugar to almost every processed food. Sugar and alcohol contain the greatest calories per gram, over carbs (complex) and protein. Sugar causes insulin spikes which stores fat. More sugar spikes, more fat retention and the more insulin resistance, too much insulin resistance = type 2 diabetes.
I think you are just eating more now than you live in the US. I don't think the fast food is to blame. I don't think people should be hating on obesity. I'm an amateur bodybuilder and if people want to be fat, let em be fat
8:36 this is fucking embarrassing hearing about people who cant cook because the truth is if you can turn on the stove you can cook. It may take time to learn to cook well but the rewards for doing so are lower food costs, a new hobby, and better food. the average person on earth lives to 70 years old. That's 76650 meals in a life time should people not want to enjoy as many of those meals as possible and not be limited to the McDonald's dollar menu.

I'm nearly full-bred French (known for producing 5 star chefs and fashion designers) and I don't give a shit about cooking. I'll leave it to the wife; she is better at it.
You really shouldn't have a problem with my decisions. If you have a qualm, then you are obviously looking for a reason to have a qualm.
Fast food isn't the problem - the problem is that fat people don't know when to stop stuffing their fucking face. I'm 6'2", 185 lbs - not fat at all for my height. I just had Wendys tonight, Taco Bell last night. Why? Because I don't overdo it. I excersize. I don't eat it all the time, like so many of these fat fucks we have in the US. Maybe a few times a month. Most other times I'm eating veggies, noodles, etc.
I bet they had trouble finding the skinny happy family that eats fastfood all day. The program never goes deeper than the opinion stage. First they have an opinion, and then find the people to make it work. The only 'research' they had was some proffesor (I wonder who pays his salary) making the fastfood look better. What does it matter if the food looks better, the quality is still horrible. The meat is still made from chemically grown animals.
Oh fast food is unhealthy that's for sure. But blaming it for the obesity in the country is completely retarded.
Like any other company, fast food chains offer a product; how often you want to buy said product is up to you. If you're obese because you've had a quarter pounder with cheese at McDonald's every Tuesday for the last 5 years, then it's YOUR fault and yours alone; nobody EVER forced you to go there in the first place, it's just that you don't want to be held responsible.
i disagree with that anorexic bitch... the fast food industry doesnt count on us being stupid... its the government... by taking away our choices which makes us more stupid and treat us like children.
All corporations count on the public being stupid. I'm not for government controlling everything but let's not make it sound like the corporations have our best interests in heart; they don't.
mimi needs my meat followed by a good calorie burning workout...headache? no problem, tests show that my prime pork sausage actually helps with headaches
I love arby's and all that but...that mom is lazy as fuck pumping her kid full of artificial "food." My mom went to college and worked full time while she raised me and every meal was home cooked. It's called a crock pot, dumb bitch.
it's not the fast food that is unsafe per se, but the quantity a person eats of it, plus fast food outlets are altering their choices because they want to keep making money by attracting people who like some fries and a salad.
its also the amount of physical activity that person has.
you can't blame fast food sometimes a burger and a cola is cheaper then buying ingredients and cooking the burger yourself.

The only thing I would think is necessary is printing the calories of the prepared food on the packaging so that people have a better handle on what their eating. Also, fast food is already pretty expensive when you add up the cost of it. But really, these campaigners get on my nerves and I'm not even American. Big surprise, if you eat crap you get fat and bits of you stop working as well. It's a choice to eat junk food, it's not being force fed to anyone.
The pants the woman shows at the beginning are bullshit. I am 5 foot 1 inch and weight 157. My pants are quite a bit smaller than that. It looks like she's holding up maybe a size 24-26. Nothing wrong with wearing a 24-26, but a woman who is the height and weight she describes will wear around a 16. It's like the bullshit obesity scare statistics. A person is "obese" by government standards at what most people would consider slightly overweight. In my case, 160 lbs.
Let me tell you something. I have met two obese vegetarians, one smokes and the other doesn't. I eat meat and fast food here and there when I want and I am in better shape than both of them. Also I don't smoke either which I believe causes obesity.
I drove through vegas today for my job and let me tell you all I wanted to do was stop and see the Penn and Teller show sneak behind the curtains and kick Penn and Tellers ass for letting show time cancel BULLSHIT, that is BULLSHIT
When I went to Jury duty, I ended up eating fast food the entire week. I didn't gain or lose weight cause of all the walking I ended up doing just to get from one place to another. Plus I was able to stop eating when I was full. Without Carl's Jr, Quiznos or other fast food places I would have starved my week of being on a jury panel.
I really like how all the health experts looking out for the public good have somehow managed to remain skinny and healthy in a country full of horrible fast food, but they don't think that however managed to do it won't work for everyone else. Instead of attacking the unhealthy food, try promoting the healthy food and healthy habits. Figure out a way to make healthier food cheap and easy. Start an ad campaign to promote longer lunches so people don't have to grab something in 10 minutes.
4:30 tell that shit to Jim Fix...the health nut that died mid jog of heart failure. If this bitch was in the fucking kitchen then maybe people would HAVE to get fast food...
"Another skinny person telling us we're too fat. Nope, no hypocrisy here!" Um, if it was a fat person telling us we're too fat, that would be hypocrisy. Shouldn't a skinny person saying it be the complete opposite of hypocrisy?
the lengths americans go to justify these kind of nasty habits.....have they never seen documentaries like supersize me? The voice over on this video feels like an insult to rational thinking
LOL anyone who thinks they can legislate human behaviours like drugs, overeating or sex etc is out of thier mind. It's your choice if you want to stuff yourself
People get fat because they are lazy and eat large portions. Lucky for me i lost it but it's ok to eat fast food evey everyday. Choose healthy options, go for the wrap insteed of the burger. Take water instead of a coke. Go for a 20 min walk. Like they said in the video, when you are full stop eating pack the rest of the food for dinner or a snack later. And be active. :)
@S3bz3r0 lol yeah. but fast food is filling and cheap. But then there are people who's natural body type is well fat like myself. I lost like 45-50 pounds. I'm 180 5'4 but still able to get 7 on the beep test.
Stigmatization is good and has to be done? I guess so, look at Nazi propaganda they did well with making Jews look like evil wealthy bankers with knives in the back of the Germans.
People are missing the point of this episode. It's not "bashing fast food is bullshit" it's government regulation regarding behavior is bullshit. Instead of letting people choose they want the government to control people's actions.
Nobody has thought doing the reverse thing ? I mean, a negative tax on products with better nutrional value ?

@Bigpussycat5 Criminal to feed fast food to kids? Give me a break genius.
GoongalaGoongala 5 days ago
@GoongalaGoongala
no im not gonna fucking give you a break.
parents have the biggest impact over the kind of quality of life their child is gonna live. feed them crap. they grow up to continue eating crap and get heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other nasty illnesses.
its one thing to fucking stuff your face with that shit and risk leaving your childrens lives earlier than you should.
its another thing to put them down the same distructive path.
Bigpussycat5 5 days ago
@Bigpussycat5 You think feeding fast food to kids should be illegal? That's just childish (and stupid).
TheEagerMcBeaver 5 days ago
@TheEagerMcBeaver
it should be illegal.
just like its illegal to give crack, alcohol and cigarettes to kids. at one point in history, it was perfectly normal and legal to give all 3 to children. it was even considered medicine and theraputic to give, sometimes, some combination of the 3 at once. we've come a long way.
all 3 have accumulative health effects on kids in both the short and long term.
as adults we should be able to do what ever we want, even if it hurts us. but we
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
shouldnt have the right to feed children crap and lead them on a life style that they will suffer from as adults. its not childish at all to want to best for your future.
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
@Bigpussycat5 Crack, whiskey, and marlboros all have toxic effects that are infinitely more harmful than anything you're gonna try and use against fast food. Comparing fast food to cocaine, alcohol, and cigarettes is a pretty lame attempt at an argument. Kind of embarrassing, really!
TheEagerMcBeaver 4 days ago
@TheEagerMcBeaver
infinately more harmful is truely a relative and subjective term. reality is people were giving this stuff to kids and certainly they were not all dropping dead but over time they had negative effects. it took us a while to catch on and ban the stuff. and when it comes to fast food its the same thing. we know we have a big problem with child hood obesity and diabetes. we know that this can shorten life espectancy and reduce quality of life in adults.
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
one can easily argue that fast food as toxic effects on the body. even have addictive qualities that make us crave it more like other unhealthy and addictive substances. we now live in a society where it can be considered animal abuse to feed fast food to our pets that cause them to get fat. people are more careful about what they feed ther dogs but have no problem giving this crap to their kids. something definately wrong. like i said, this stuff is legal, cheap and easy to buy for kids
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
it even part of our culture today. there were morons like you back in the day who would insist that crack was theraputic and would say exactly what you said. why? because it was normal, common and socially acceptable. people believed that ciggaretts didnt raise risk of cancer for years. and know we know better. fast food/diet also has been linked to increased risks of cancer too. we also have emerging sciences like epigenetics that show that the crap that we eat can change and fuck with our
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
in some horrible ways. it can also change them in such a way that we then pass on these messed up bits to our offspring so now our kids, on the genetic level, can suffer from the effects of our bad eating habits in more ways then simply just copying what mommy and daddy do.
so you can just shut the fuck up. there very well could be a day when we actually make it illegal. there are countries now moving in the direcion of banning certain foods and charging taxes on the purchase of others for
Bigpussycat5 4 days ago
simply being unhealthy. and there are parents in america (of all places. land of the free and such bullshit). who face criminal charges for having children who are extremely obese or having children who are extremely malnurished (with shit like scurvy of all illnesses. fuck, an orange a day takes care of that shit) from eating ONLY junk food. its not cute anymore to see kids suffering form hyptertension and other diseas that old people have.

TheEagerMcBeaver 4 days ago
@TheEagerMcBeaver
i dont know what counts as "concrete support" but we have more than enough to error on the side of what is in the best interest of children. if you are "loving it" good. as long as you are an adult do what everthe FUCK you wanna do.
but you should go to jail and have your kids taken away from you if you give that crap to you kids.
for the same reason why you would go to gail for giving your kids crack, alcohol or the keys to your car to drive.

Here's my suggestion: instead of complaining to the government, why not spend that time going for a bike ride with your kids after that happy meal?
TheEagerMcBeaver 3 days ago
@TheEagerMcBeaver
idiot. im talking about children.
Bigpussycat5 3 days ago
@Bigpussycat5 Yes, I know children aren't in control either! I'm talking about how not giving them appropriate exercise is the real problem. Not fast food. Oh, and nice of choice words with that last part of your response!

you said: I'm loving how people rarely acknowledge the fact that they have the option to not eat fast food. They don't need to go crying to the government, asking them to make take that option away.
in the context of what i was saying your comment was BS. and still is. my whole issue is not about what concenting adults want to eat. fast food is not an "option" for kids. unhealthy options should not
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
@Bigpussycat5
physical activity is not an answer for not getting the right amount of nutrients from a unhealthy diet. even for kids. most kids are naturally very active. especially when going to school.
if you "suggestion" should be taken seriousely you should also offer it as a solution for kids smoking and drinking. my point about how fast food being treated in the same regard as cigs and alcohol. unhealthy is not a suitable option for kids. period.
now fuck off.
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
@Bigpussycat5 Nope! If it's not enough nutrients that you're worried about, that's still something that falls under the responsibilities of the parents, not the fast food industry or the law makers. Sorry! You're gonna have to do better than that!
As for your application of my fast-food-exercise suggestion to alcoholism and cigarettes, I think one of neighbor's kindergarteners had a similar idea. How adorable! You're both trying(but still learning) ;D
TheEagerMcBeaver 2 days ago
@TheEagerMcBeaver i am MAKING it the responsibility of the parents. they should LEGALLY not be feeding fast food to their kids. just like its their responsibility to not LEGALLY give their kids alcohol, cigs and crack. the law has no problem with getting in the business of dictating what parents can lawfully serve their kids. i just think it should be extended to include fast food. alcoholism is the abuse of alcohol. fast food can also be abused
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
too contributing to health issues. also after years of abuse, just like alcohol, it can be a bad addiction to recover from. the country with the highest rate of morbidly obese people is america and they are living proof of how dangerouse and deadly fast food can be. most cases dont happen over night. most morbidly obese peopl develope terrible eating habids early in life only to get out of control when they adults and they really can do what ever they want.
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
there are a number of parallels with fastfood that show it induces addictive traits in people. right down to its effect on the brain. so i find it interesting when you use the term "alcoholism". its a term reserves for addiction. look at you defending the right of parents to feed what ever they want. but its not really parents that should have that right. the kids should have it and we should error on the side of what is in their best interest. not what is convenient for mom
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
when they are older they can make that decision for themselves. they can decide to smoke, drink and eat what ever the fuck they want. but there is no rational arguement for why it should be ok to serve or eat fast food other than it tastes good. crack makes people feel good too but its not legal to give that to kids either. i would like to see crack legalized, BTW but for ADULTS ONLY.
Bigpussycat5 2 days ago
@Bigpussycat5 In one of your four paragraph replies to me, you said it's the kids who should have the right to feed themselves and not their parents, But in the following paragraph, you said that they(the children?) should have that decision "when they are older." Are you contradicting yourself now or was that just a sloppy slip-up in your logic?
I have much more to say, but first, would like to clear that little detail up:)
TheEagerMcBeaver 2 days ago
I must say that fast food places ARE to blame for their almost limited supply to HFCS containing soft drinks, and let us not forget the buns on the burger being horribly packed with sugars. However, I really can't understand people who think the fat is the enemy while things like sugar are easily as bad, if not worse for you. Also, advertisements aimed at young children to make them make decisions bad for them have been around since forever in the US and blaming the fast food industry wont help.

After that, you are able to predict the reactions and choices in most situations.

lenlangevin 1 week ago

Calories in > calories out = fat. Simple.

Like any other company, fast food chains offer a product; how often you want to buy said product is up to you. If you're obese because you've had a quarter pounder with cheese at McDonald's every Tuesday for the last 5 years, then it's YOUR fault and yours alone; nobody EVER forced you to go there in the first place, it's just that you don't want to be held responsible.

it's not the fast food that is unsafe per se, but the quantity a person eats of it, plus fast food outlets are altering their choices because they want to keep making money by attracting people who like some fries and a salad.
its also the amount of physical activity that person has.

Instead of attacking the unhealthy food, try promoting the healthy food and healthy habits. Figure out a way to make healthier food cheap and easy. @hungrytomato Being too skinny is just as unhealthy as being too fat. Ergo you have your hypocrisy.

the lengths americans go to justify these kind of nasty habits.....have they never seen documentaries like supersize me? The voice over on this video feels like an insult to rational thinking

@Freepepsi42 lol, you could be slim doing that, but you still won't be particularly healthy. slim is not the equivalent of healthy.

Instead of letting people choose they want the government to control people's actions.
jakedizzle 1 month ago 29
@jakedizzle
Well, there's a spectrum. There, are, of course, a range of things that the vast majority of people are perfectly fine with the government regulating.
Thalidomide is banned in the United States, and that's a good thing.
A corner store can't sell liquor to a 9 year-old, and that's a good thing, too.
REASONABLE REGULATIONS.
The next question, of course, is where, exactly, reasonable regulation crosses the line into unjustifiable intrusions on people's private decisions.
