  • You know, I expected these arguments on POLITICAL videos, but to keep seeing the same pointless, racist arguments over and over is maddening! At this point I wish death on ANY religion (Christianity ESPECIALLY) that hopes to overtake government and threaten secularism. So yeah, soNoLeon, you're in denial and are still a hypocrite! But why oh WHY must such hatred ruin such amazing music?! ALL EXTREMIST RELIGION IS BAD NOW SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO THE PIPES!

  • beautiful song from what was noted "a pitiless....world" - from the look of the comments, it's still here...sad.

  • beautiful music :)

  • It sounds very arabic, not surprising since medieval western music evolved dramatically after the crusaders brought back various instruments from the Latin East.

  • lol this definately is turkish folk music. Every single insturment is from turkish folk and the notes and the scale aswell.

  • @Reatbuster just because you are related to Turks , it has nothing to do with Turks , or Muslims. This is Italian Norman

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Yeah, and? Does it change the insturments or the scale it is played on? Does it change the fact it is exactly same as Turkish folk music? Did i say anything about muslims? And btw southern normandy in italy stayed in turkish occupation for 50 years from 1570 on.

And most people here claim that it has influences from the east. Which is obvious. Maybe it was made as a tribute? Even if not, why do you feel disturbed cause of the resemblance?

  • @Reatbuster YOU STUPID TURK MUSLIM ASSHOLES YOU GOING TO TELL ME THE INSTRUMENTS ARE TURKISH? NEXT YOU SAY THAT TURKS INVENTED DEMOCRACY, OR THEY INVENTED MATH.... YOU ARE RIDICULOUS MUSLIM FANATICS ... I AM PART NORMAN AND SPARTAN, I KNOW WELL MY HISTORY I DO NOT NEED SOME IGNORANT TURK TO TELL ME ... THESE INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT TURKISH, TURKS COPY MANY THINGS , YOU CONTRIBUTED ZERO TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN RACE .. F... OFF

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas lol pathetic moron. İf you know well your history, you should know aswell who partly norman spartans are. When sparta was at war with southern italian states, because the war lasted too long, spartans sent some of the soldiers back to sparta to get the women pregnant. Those children were later refused by spartans and called bastards, and they moved to normandy to start new lives. You obviously arent either norman or spartan, just a wannabe piece of shit bastard.

  • @Reatbuster you such a pathetic bastard you know nothing and you create lies.... People like you are assholes.... you jerk I am Spartan, and Norman . My Norman ancestors when they returned west to go back to their bases in Italy, and Normandy passed through Northen Greece , and others went to Peloponisos Greece. There is the town of Geraki , a Spartan town from ancient times , there some Normans settled and built a large Norman fortress . Other Normans settled in Ipiros Greece , the area of Sa--

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas continuing.... Other Normans settled in Ipiros Greece in the area of Sagiades, and thivoto. Other Normans settled in Manh a Spartan stronghold South of Sparta a Place that was never conquered by anyone. In Ipiros my Norman ancestors killed a Turk Captain, and his bodyguards, - slit their throats- because they trued to extort money from them. Then they left Ipiros , and went to Manh where they were accepted as brothers , and continued the fight against the Turk inv-

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas continuing... and continued the fight against the Turk invaders.. so yes the Normans of Italy, France, and elsewhere are out brothers .. so stop insulting and shut it ... and speaking of my Spartan ancestors , they never bow to anyone ...especially assholes like you ....proud to be Norman, and Spartan

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Furthermore, you are trying to give extremely specific information about very past, although it is unlikely to be accurate, i believe you in the general story. However, a person can't know all about history, so it would be nice if you could at least give what i said a chance to be possible, since i have read that in a book about siege of Syracuse. What happened in the past stays there, so if someone doesn't approach you with negative manner, please do reply in same fashion.

  • Loving your country doesn't necessarily mean hating all whom it had quarreled with in the past. I am pleased to speak with someone at least partly Spartan, since i know their historical fame. However that was almost 3000 years ago. I'd rather prefer Greeks stop their arrogance about inventing roots of democracy, in the very ancient times and start doing something that they themselves can be proud of. Considering Greece being almost bankrupt, i think it would be better to just work than talk.

  • @Reatbuster JACKASS SHAME ON YOU

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas wtf dude get over yourself. you obviously dont know jack shit about history put aside being objective. anything on danube doesnt concern you, and hungarians lived happier than any other nations occupation such as austrians or bohemians or russians. Take your retarded negative generalizing extra prejuidiceful altitude to your own nowhere-to-be-found country moron.

  • @Reatbuster <====== A LIAR PROPAGANDIST MUSLIM LOVER ... F U SICK BASTARD

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Dude please don't make it a bore to explain things to you. Calm down. I am not Muslim, nor do i really like the religion itself. However, believe me, if after 500 years of Turkish occupation, Christians are the very majority in Greece, you definately owe it to Turks being open minded about the religion. Hungarians do realize this. And believe me, if they wanted, they could slaughter all Spartan christians with the rest of Greece to force them to convert to islam.

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Wars happen, people die, descisions are made. But it never is the descision of people, but rather those in power. In a century where people are free to speak for themselves rather than obliged to repeat what their leaders say, it is far more sensible to calmly argue with a person that doesn't think alike. For thoughts occur from knowledge, and knowledge isn't always the fact. If you would like to talk furthermore, you can add me on messenger, and we talk, calmly.

  • @Reatbuster YES BECAUSE THE MAJORITY ARE IGNORANT DONKEYS AS THE ISLAMISTS WHO ARE THE MAJORITY , AND HATE OTHERS . THEREFORE WHEN THESE IGNORANT PEOPLE TRY TO KILL YOU , YOU FIGHT BACK TO SURVIVE. DO YOU SEE NOW HOW WARS BEGIN?

  • @Reatbuster obviously you are a bastard turk . You should be ashamed you are a traitor to your Country, I have Hungarian friends , and they will say the same about you, you forgot the Hungarian fishermen of the Danube who gave their lives fighting the turks, you come to make propaganda for the turks... SHAME ON YOU TRAITOR go to instabull where you belong

  • @Reatbuster

You don't know nothing about music. All these instuments are very ancient. Turks and Arabs invented nothing, they took all from ancient Greek - Roman world.

Saltarello is an ancient italic dance and it was called "Saltatio" in latin. It means "to jump" and Saltarello in italian means "to do little jumps".

It is a populr dance in the whole central Italy.

  • @Miauriceful Dude, read first, before typing. I did not say anything about these insturments being "originally" Turkish. I already agree with what you say, if there is a resemblance, obviously Turks took it from the Romans or Byzantium, which are both empires that i adore. Even what Turks call as their own "classical" music is not much more than Byzantine rites sang in Turkish and different theme, even Turks don't know this. But this doesn't change the FACT that it is RIGHT NOW, very similiar.

  • @Miauriceful I did not mention anything about muslims or arabs yet you people insist on bringing it up again. Turks, although mostly muslims, are NOT arabs. Right below i wrote something about conversing with negative manner. Yet i do already agree with what you said, you, for some reason, thought it is normal to just enter the conversation with "omg u dunno shit about music moron fu" manners. I am really curious about what exactly your problem is, about something Turks have in common with you.

  • @Reatbuster fIRST OF ALL THESE INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT TURKISH, SECOND TURKS, AND MUSLIMS IN GENERAL CONTRIBUTED ZERO IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HUMANITY, BUT DID EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE BY STARTING WARS. THE OTOMAN SO CALLED EMPIRE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A BUNCH OF THIEVES, AND HATERS OF WESTERN CULTURE, THEIR AIM WAS TO TAKE ALL OF EUROPE ,AND EXPLOIT IT. EUROPEANS SHOULD ALWAYS BE AWARE OF ISLAM IT IS A RACIST RELIGION

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas islam is the most agressive religion in history , however it is not racist. it is a world religion like christianity and therefore strongly internationalist.

  • @stears555 Islam is a shit racist religion. Christianity , and Judaism is not racist, you can quack all you want, but facts are facts we have many examples that Islam is a racist religion, and most muslims hate western people, and other non muslims

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas "Judaism is not racist" LOL. Fuck you fucking Jewish leftist.

  • @Almanzzor THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT A FANATIC MUSLIM ASSHOLE LIKE YOU WOULD SAY. I HOPE FRANCE SEND YOU ALL BACK TO YOUR TENTS IN ARABIA

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas No, but we will soon send "back" all Jewish dirts in "Israel" where the brothers will exterminate them.

  • @Almanzzor you are a stupid muslim, DREAM ON ASSHOLE

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Go playing with yoru boy-friends in your fucking gay-pride and shut up.

  • @Almanzzor my Norman knight ancestors played with your women relatives JACKASS... hahaha get ready for your final beating arab COWARDS .... you are people of no honor

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Lol "Norman" ! You are rather Jewish. And I think my ancestors played far more with your women (harems) than yours played with my ones. No Honor ? Wait, I don't see any dishonnouring things like Gay Pride, abortment, immigration, etc. in Muslim countries, whereas western countries are full of that shits.

  • Comment removed

  • @Almanzzor You keep trying that, and the Israelis keep kicking your asses. Sorry you're so butthurt about it.

  • @soNofLeoniDasandLas Um, ZERO, dipshit. Algebra. Alcohol. The preservation of many ancient texts through the fall of the Roman Empire. Ever heard of the Silk Road?

  • @Miauriceful I see that you people don't really have anything else to be proud of apart from what you have discovered thousands of years ago, which is apparently the reason you are trying very hard to stick with that. Every race have parts specific to their culture, and also parts that they share with other cultures due to relation, Right, Roman Empire had a huge cultural legacy. But one can be "proud" of their ancesotrs, not "brag" about their ancestors.

  • @Reatbuster

You're talking about things you do not know, and ignorance is never excusable and it is not my work to teach you.

  • @Miauriceful

    Adieu

  • @Miauriceful No. no no. YOu know it all wrong. But its not MY job to teach you neither. Too bad. How great a place, the world is when everyone cba to even discuss about what they know. Ignorance, as in lack of knowledge is always excusable, but your fashion of ignorance, to claim only what you know is true and close it to discussions, can't.

  • @Reatbuster I am a Spartan, and Norman, and I am also a historian. The Spartans never attacked the Greek city Siracusa , but they were allies with them. In Southern Italy, and in Sicily there were many Greek cities, and towns , Siracusa, Mesina, Agricento ,Taormina, Cefalu, Croton, Napoli, Taranto,Taras, the aeolian islands, Lipari etc, and many other towns throughout Italy as far north beyond Venice. So Greeks , and Italians know we are brothers .I sugest you learn history before you speak

  • Thank you... Can you please tell me from what the images at 0:14, 0:51, 0:58 come from please?

  • it's like the echoes from the past come through my boxes! <3

  • i luv middle ages musics

    niceee music

  • very beautiful!

  • So to a tune like this danced the slaves, the underclass of Rome, when their rulkers fell to the northern barbarians of the 400s. So too danced the peasants of Constantinople when oit too fell, and so will dance the underclass of London when its system falls in the 2100s.

And as the peasants opf Rome saw their burnt ashen city in the cold light of dawn, so the stark light of day will dawn upon the poor of London as their celebrations draw to a close that bright October morning.......

  • I have a music exam tomorrow. Gotta remember a list of medieval music ._.

  • Zoltan Arany is the king of Medieval Music

  • Which composer wrote this song?

  • @maxhiner699 Nobody knowes.

Someone in Italy in the 14th century.

  • @aranzoltan

Well, whoever it was that composed this song,

all I can say is...HE WAS A FRIGGIN' GENIOUS...:)

  • @aranzoltan Maybe the composer was a medieval ancestor of Mario and Luigi?

  • @aranzoltan so the historians dont know exactly?

That just got me inspired! :)

  • @maxhiner699 Duncan Macleod lol !!!

  • @maxhiner699 most likely was written by a Norman from Italy

  • Jé, ezt a számot ismerem! :D

  • The greatest version of Santarello i haved eard.....

  • what instrument is that played on?

  • @Crosell a mandolin

  • Does anybody in which key this is and if it is a major or minor chord?

  • @275juul

    I'ts in A minor.

  • @aranzoltan thank you

  • @aranzoltan

Goes to proove that minor or major doesn't mean music has to be 'happy' or 'sad'.

  • @275juul technically medieval music doesn't have keys... but I suppose you could call it A.

  • Bravissimi, siete veramente in gamba! Beautifull music and interpretation!

    Ciao by Italia, Napoli
