  • Disturbing< Indeed!!! I have a feeling this is one of those frequent cases, of the book being much better. As a film it's a bit dragging. If it wasn't for the cast, it would be a catastrophe....Simply Terror-fying, as it is.

  • Vi hoje este filme e esta cena, pelo seu imprevisto, valeu pelo filme ...

  • Oooh no! Rupert! Yes, it is a creepy movie, but for this reason we can realize how wonderful actors they are.

Great films, wonderful Venice's landascapes including Rupert.

  • Oh i saw this movie many years ago, and it haunted me eversince. Christopher Walken is more than disturbing, and the sheer terror comes from what lies beneath.together with the beautifull music and the strange haunting beauty of Venice out of season, it makes it one of my alltime favorites.Thank you so much.

  • Well, I am stunned by that ending, just stunned. I thought I had seen the incredible Christopher Walken in all his guises, but this takes the cowbells. I, too, loved him as the Hessian Horseman (sexy), but Walken said that he was glad when this role ended as playing Robert disturbed even him!!

  • I might be incredibly stupid but WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?

  • What goes on in the mind of Ian McEwan? I recently read The Cement Garden which comes close to this on a disturbing level.

  • I don't get it, what's the point with him telling everyone about his father??? Is it some way he hypnotises people or what?... Sick movie anyway! :S

  • oh nooo, now i remember the end of this movie. I knew it was something I found disturbing, but I must have blacked it out. Creepy creepy creepy

  • forget horror movies, this is creepier than any horror movie ive seen. aaaghh! poor poor people

  • Damn wrong video wtf is this ...Walken is a sexy beast!...im kinda creeped out by him now..but hes hot..i prefer him as a hessian horseman though;)

  • @yalda96 Love him in Sleepy Hollow :)

  • Good Lord in heaven.

  • A cautionary tale about the weirdos you could meet on an overseas trip. They do exist, believe me they do. Common sense and gut feeling will tell you to RUN. If you don't listen to your inner voice, then trouble will always knock on your door.

  • This is really story about the anglosaxon chauvinism of the writer and how he goes along with the all story that all people overseas are all dangerous psychos

  • @thisisgrey Interesting synopsis and well said !. Thanks for your comment and reply. I could talk with intellectuals all day long :).

  • @starquant tnx man! and not only that, look carefully at all stories of english or americans in italy (or france). Italy is always portrayed as a fairy tale land where time has stopped and everything is authentic, passionate and primitive (a theme park for adults). Then look at italian (or french) movies about their own country, watch Gomorra. It may be the other extreme of the spectrum but it deservers a good watch.

  • @thisisgrey once again, well said. Your comment is articulate and accurate . Thank you. I can't offer an alternate view, when I agree with your comment :). Perhaps we shall meet again on another site and have the opportunity to "Bang Heads"....lol. I look foward to it :).

  • @starquant don't need to go overseas, there are freaks everywhere.

  • @Dix994 lol, agreed.

  • This was the most reserved adaptation of Rocky Horror Picture Show I've ever seen.

  • The movie was creepy, disturbing and downright horrifying and it didn't make any sense at all. Now I can't wait to go read the book!

  • LOL why does every effing movie about a troubled couple under the spell of weird residents of Venice end with a straight razor (cf. Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie 1973)?

  • thanks for uploading this movie, i just finished the book then found this. the movie fell so short of the book, a pretty poor film in comparrison to the book, they didnt convey the books intention i feel. but thanks for uploading!

  • Did the book explain why they let the other couple to take them over?

  • it was to do with their subconsciuos sado-masachist desires to be like robert and caroline.

  • Oh...I never would have imagined, except that I was taken aback by the part where she mentions cutting off his arms and legs.

Does this thread run throughout the book? I will get it, of course.

  • yeah it does, robert awakens hidden desires in both colin and mary, its a btter book than the film you will enjoy it.

  • Thanks for sharing. Natasha was great as always. It's a real strange movie and the plot is hard to understand. I'm a fan of Helen Mirren and Natasha Richardson so I don't regret watching it. But I really don't understand what the producers wanted to tell us;D

  • great and inexplicable movie - using a cold way of entertaining us - and to what end?

  • Well, I was not entertained at the end. There are strange people in this world, and they destroy others. There is some truth here. It is really horrible truth.

The young couple were innocent. They did not see the harm coming.

Maybe it was written to entertain.I found it horrifying. Except that the performances of Natasha and Rupert were excellent.

I did not know that ending was coming.I watched it to see Natasha's performance.

  • Thank you a great movie., Natasha is stunning in this. She will be seriously missed.
