First of all, I just want to add that people hating on our Accents are just immature or ignorant. Obviously the Accents are NOT fast cars (unless you do a Tiburon engine swap) but they are still fun to mod.
About your Intake: This is a short ram intake. You need to add a heat shield so it doesn't suck in hot air from the engine. Look at my video response and you'll see a proper short ram intake for our cars.
EVERY car has a cold air intake you complete moron! It's what takes air to the air filter and through the MAF sensor to the engine. What you have done is fit something that DOES NOT filter and made it suck in HOT air to decrease your power output. That's why boy racers do us all a favour - they slow their own cars down and look silly.
@urbex2007 Lol your wrong. The stock air box and piping absolutely sucks. Believe me he's not sucking in that much hot air. Right below the filter is a place for a lot of air to come into the engine bay. Also the hood allows air to come into the engine bay to keep down the temps. Please don't talk about a car you know nothing about. You might want to re-think your "boy racer" comment and apply it to yourself.
Yes, every car comes with a "cold air intake" but most cars place the intake tube near the rad which heats up like crazy. And not to mention, the stock filter box and filters are garbage. Sure, they filter, but the air flow is crap.
True cold air intake needs to be placed near the bumper where there's shade and absolutely no heat source so the only thing it's sucking in is the ambient outside temperature...which sometimes, isn't cold either ^.^
jesus, what is that pile of junk ! it is faster as standard with a proper air filer, housing and pipes. Well done for not realising hot air from the engine decreases performance. Another boy racer conned by advertising.
you'll get more power out of an intake then an catback exhaust. That being said i don't know if it's enough that you'd notice the difference. Between a cheap intake and one of k&n there will be virtually no difference in power when comparing SRI to SRI. Since the space of the cone is the same and allows equal amounts of air through. There is a difference though when you compare paper intake to cotton or composites.
@bobfakkel So, this is simple math. If a V8 Engine gets 25 hp more, than that means that a I4 can probably get 15 or so extra hp. Than add the 15 hp from the exhaust, and you have 30 extra hp. Than depending on conditions, like a good transmition, well balanced tires, inc. you can get even MORE hp. I think you deserve a geniurs award.
Maybe on a 4 cyl turbo engine but I doubt it. I spoken to a guy a few months ago who has a tuning shop nearby. He says that the Bhp is noncense and that the only big difference is the lag time between shifting gears in rpm on cars that dont have alot of hp.
And the V8 has 6 liters, a hyundai only has 1.6 at max. If you see it from that way its 4 times less and you get 6/7 hp more.
It goes for allmost all engine modifying stuff. the bigger and more powerfull the engine the more result.
i have the 07 accent and i put on an intake, it sounds exlactly like this one does, and i just put a thrush glasspack muffler on it. its mad loud. i did 125mph with just the intake on it. i bought a super chip i just need to find the mass airflow sensor to hook it up.
Google some dyno graph's and learn a bit about mods. Tell anyone who's dyno'd a car that you got 30hp from an intake and exhuast on a stock 4cyl and they'll laugh at you. Bolt ons only give that kind of power in ricer land.
After 43,000 miles of experimentation. My conclusion is, that its what you want to use the car for, in terms of selecting the best style of intake for it. I also think driving style, regionality in terms of weather and humidity, as well as gas additives have to play into it also. Case scenario: When I buy gas in a southern state like Kentucky were they put a boatload of additives for emissions and fuel econ. The SRIs perfotmed as well as the CAIs in the watery gas states.
Also, I would not recommend using a filter with metal components using a Short RAM for everyday use. Filters with plastic components conduct less heat than the metal ones, Gas Mileage suffered big time when using a Filter with Metal Components on the short RAM. However, if you want to drag race then I truly suggest a short RAM with metal components. The Power will be beasty even if it was an average midsized car. However, CAIs with filters using metal components work the best on the Accents.
I have tried the short ram on my 2007 Accent. The Gas Mileage is ok and it provides excellent low to mid band RPMs. The RAM got a little too hot even with heat protecction for my tastes. I now have cold air in it and the Gas Mileage is excellent, constanly 40-50 MPG on the highway. Low RPM ranges suffer somewhat, so I would not recommend a flat out drag race unless you install some type of forced induction, electric or mechanical. High RPMs greatly improve with cold air however.
Well, the Short Ram helps well...it is better than having the sealed box with the regular air intake... I want to see the improvement when I install the Short Ram in my Accent 2007 1.4.

Euh juice it op a bit with a powerfilter?
Normally the only difference is that it picks up better in the rpm's after shifting gear. You dont get more hp..
And that only counts if you got a good one ( sparco or k&n )
Cheap ones only give you more engine sound.

the power is barely noticeable so get a fuckin' car not a hyundai

My K&N on my Accent helped a lot.. I have a K&N. And it increases your HP if you get a exahust like I dide. I have 30-40 Extra hp.
dragonblood199 2 years ago
so you wanna say on a max of 105hp car you get 30-40 hp extra by an exaust and a different air intake. lmao
The site of K&N says 25 hp more on a 6liter V8 engine, think that it says it all...
Btw an exaust for a 1.6 liter engine you may clap your hands if you get 15hp more..
