  • Before I enter my personal information I would like to know if your webpages accepts Paypal payments. Does it?

  • i did and i got on the website and found the book but how do i buy it, do i press add to cart or what?

  • hey how do you buy the book?

  • @Eyemanipulator Hey! Just click on the second link in the description, and that'll take you to the Dan and Dave store where you can buy it :)

  • what is called the music

  • @kartentrick100 what do u do in the bath- lemon jelly i believe

  • @GoldenBoyXCM thanks :)

  • @kartentrick100 gern

  • HAHA LOL! What you doing in the bath?? :P xD

  • Bathe.

  • I really enjoy Smooth Operations! Great work.

  • Hey man great book! I appsolutelly love it! I was just cusious when your going to make your next vid? Everday I check your channel but no new vids, please Kevin?

  • @YourRightHandMan Thanks! I will definitely be putting new videos out soon, though for the most part they will be through my group Virtuoso. Be sure to subscribe to our channel at /thevirts to get notified of when new stuff is up :)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Would this be good for novice-intermediate magicians/manipulators????

  • @MrRichoMagic I wouldn't recommend the book to an absolute beginner as they might have a tough time with some of the material, but otherwise the content explained in SO should be approachable for any magician who already knows what a double lift and/or Elmsley Count is.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Can you do a video of your tremendous and flashy effect " Stuck on you". It's just amazing ... lol

I'd love to see your presentation for it. However the secret move is very "on the ground" . lol

  • Not sure how much my subscribers would like that... I might get a lot of 'backlash' for it.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • when is your dvd coming out on theory11 and what is it

  • ...I really don't know what to say to that.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • 0.56 please reveal

  • I did... in the book!

    -Kev, The Virts

  • page 12

  • it just the song kev im sorry

  • what did you do in the bath

  • I killed a man for asking questions.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • whats the flourish called at 0:13 and is it in the book I am getting the book in the mail tommorow I think

  • That's a variation of Raccoon called "RACCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON", both of which are featured in the book.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • nice...nice...very nice trailer kev!

  • I'm not sure Kev. What do YOU do in the bath?

  • Trust me, you don't want to know...

    -Kev, The Virts

  • whats the move at 0.46 called

  • the inverse impulse was awesome!

  • Amazing Trailer Kev!

  • are the things in this book hard to do and take a lot of practice?

  • They're not necessarily hard to do, but in order to pull them off with ease and comfort, you will definitely need to put dedicated practice into it.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • It's a good point that the flourishes and tricks aren't that hard, it's for a big amount of people, by purpose.

  • whats the name of the song

  • Hey Kev, this is one great book you've made. My favorite effect is defiently the Chaser, because of the story that goes with it. I also like to use Long Division a lot too!!

    Well done man!

By the way, what is you favorite effect in Smooth Operations?

    -Ben

  • Hey Ben,

Thanks for the support! Glad you liked the book :D

My favorite effects from the book are probably Chaser and Conspiracy of Four. I think it's because the patter sort of leads the spectator to think that they're learning something secret about magic in the beginning, but then completely subverts their expectations.

I like it when that happens :)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • ooooo thats cruel lol...

nice looking stuff in there btw

  • are they 1001 or 1002 alladins

  • Non air-cushioned 1001's, of course. 1002's are the spawn of the devil.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • wow.. way to go kev. this is a great dvd trailer. very visual

    5*****

  • Thanks. Too bad it's not a trailer for a DVD, though!

    -Kev, The Virts

  • really it isnt?? well im considering on buying this lol.. i like this alot.. the color changes you do are amazing

  • Thanks! And yeah, it's actually a book - has a lot of pictures, though, so you shouldn't have a problem learning from it.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • oh well are the same changes on the dvd? if so i would rather buy the dvd lol.. i dont no why. probally because i more of a visual learner if that makes sense

  • Hey Kev,

I adore your tricks, and so do my specatators! But I was wondering what the song was called?

    Could you tell me?

    Cheers, Matty

  • Hey Matty,

The track is "In the Bath" by Lemon Jelly, off of their wonderful album 'KY'.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Comment removed

  • Kevin, I cannot begin to tell you how much my spectators enjoy your tricks.

Thanks for the opportunity of purchasing your absolutely awesome book.

  • You're welcome, and thanks for the great comment. Appreciate it :D

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Me too!

    Blocked.

  • hey kev just wondering is this dvd ??? thx

  • It's not a DVD, but a book that I wrote which you can order from Dan & Dave's website.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • w8 is the twirling thing on 0:13 and the paint re paint also included included in the book?? it looks very cool O.O

(its called paint repaint right? 0:15 )

  • Yup! Everything shown in the trailer (asides from myself) is included in the book. The first move is a multiple-spin variation of Raccoon called "RACCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON", and the second one is simply titled 'Repainted' :D

    -Kev, The Virts

  • WOOOW racooooon !!! lol aside from my self LOL hehe racooon is so awesome makes me want to buy the book ! but the repaint i dont know if i can learn it easily im lefty i fan the other way! thx kev! hope you ll unleash a awesome dvd with the runabout>? is it called runabout ?? ( the with twirling inside the deck then go over your hand then drop on the deck O.o

  • The move is called Roundabout, and will be released in a future Virtuoso project.

As for Repainted, the move is actually done the letf-handed way - if you watch the video you'll see that I fan the deck so that it ends in my right hand, just like most lefties do. So in that case, the move is tailor-made to fit you already! Score.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Kev! How are you?? :)

  • i cant believe it has been a year since this booklet was released

time flies by when you are having fun

  • I've come up with a way to use the Dracula Count in Punk'd, because I'm rubbish at the elmsly count.

  • What deck is that?

  • Those would be 1001 Aladdins. Not air cushion, but they are "smooth" finish. Available through ebay.

  • Thanks

  • Hey Kevin,

    It's me again.

Remember when I "deciphered" the method of doing Punk'd? Well, I was wrong. I checked the book and your way was completely different. The count I used was made up and far from the count you used. I was wondering if I could post a tutorial of my way of doing Punk'd. It has the same effect but a different method. It's okay if you don't allow though.

    Thanks.

  • This book is freakin awesome

  • I used filler number 3 and people looked at me funny and then ran away.

  • i got your book... its gonna take me a while to get through it all though...

  • I got this about 6 weeks ago, and I have to say one of the best magic books I have bought in a long time. The effect I use the most is Chaser because of its visual quality, and the story behind it. Well done on a perfectly presented and produced book Kevin Ho. 5/5

  • Thanks for the support, Ben! I appreciate it.

Glad you enjoyed the book, looks like those 3 months of writing and editing really paid off. Chaser is my favorite routine in the book, and for the same reason. Great to know that someone else is doing it, and I hope you get great reactions with it.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • hi these are good but i feel they are too dan and dave buck knockoffs and that they would not be able to be completeed in a real situation.

  • It's interesting that you should say that, because all the items within this booklet have been material that I've been using in actual, real-life situations for the past 4 years now. Then again, who knows - maybe I'm wrong and I've just gotten lucky several thousand times.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • lol good comeback but yea, i would sill not be able to complete them.

  • Kevin- Help!... Delliver us from De'vo and We will do our flourishes as good as it is in video...lol!

    -Yokon

  • Hey! Is natural for your hands to make the blank fan \? couse for me isnt so its hard to do the RePainted fan sorry for my bad english

  • Hey PetroChimia,

As mentioned in the book, the fan is done the left-handed way (even though I am right-handed).

It takes a bit of practice since it's such an unusual grip the first time you try it, but after a while you should get the hang of it ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • ur welcome man good job u deserve it

  • amazing vid man good job

  • Thanks! You should get the book too ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • What the **** was that at 0:54?! ;)

I`m not a big fan of books, maybe i`m from germany and dont understand everything but this is just awesome.

    Cheers

  • As it seems from your latest video, I guess you figured it out already.

Hoping you got the book :|

    -Kev, The Virts

  • No, i went to my friend yesterday and he ordered your 1 week ago and he let looked me in it ;) you know we are trading dvd's ( and books ) for a few days and so on :)

    Cheers

  • Hey Kevin, the magic fraternity is lucky to have a young new talent such as yourself. I loved your book Smooth Operations, and you're to damn young to be so damn good! LOL I was wondering if you considered putting together a DVD or an instant download as sort of like a companion to this wonderful book. You know to give the readers' that study your work an idea of how the effects are supposed to look and the timing of everything. Anyways excellent book man, keep up the great work.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it.

I doubt I'll be making any sort of filmed companion to Smooth Ops - the reason I made it as a book was so that people would be more open to interpreting the material to their own styles and presentations, instead of having my way of doing it being assumed to be the one and only way of doing it.

On the other hand, I've been thinking of filming some additional magic ideas to supplement the material in the book. Check my website for further details.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Kev, your tricks are amazing! Which do you prefer to do- tricks or flourishes?

  • Thanks Ben, I appreciate it.

Regarding your question: when it comes to practice, flourishes. When it comes to performance, tricks.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Kev i love your moves.... but how it's called the song ? (srry my bad english)

  • Thanks. The song is 'In the Bath' by Lemon Jelly.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • What program you use for editing ? in special the last , all is black & white and only the jack of spades is colored:)

  • Haha... actually, Dave was the one who edited the video. He used Final Cut Pro to do the editing, and I believe that for the last part he using some masking in After Effects.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • are there any prerequisites to this book?

  • Yeah, the ability to read.

Kidding. The book is more for those with prior experience with cards, but asides from the double lift and the Elmsley Count, most of the little sleights that are need to accomplish the effects (Stuart Gordon Double Turnover, Ascanio Spread, etc) are all explained in the book in full detail, so if you have basic knowledge of card handling you shouldn't be lost.

And in the case that you are, just shoot me an e-mail and I'll be glad to help you out.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • i love repainted and racoon . haha .

  • is the change at 0:56 an old one or is your own creation? =D

  • I came across it independently, but as I later found out the concept had originally been published as the 'Victor Change'. The version taught in Smooth Ops is an updated handling, constructed to make the move easier to do, and instantly repeatable.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • VERY GOOD.

    5*****

  • very nice trailer man! love the productions!

  • i cant stop watch and watch .... oh man !!

  • Kelvin u really nice !!

    u effect really nice !

keep it up ! hope u can out u second book ~ XD

  • nice trailer and nice book ! keep up !

  • Your tricks are genius. i found out how to do 2 of them w/o buying the book and I think your tricks are one of a kind because only XCM er's only know how to do them.

Awesome work Kevin. May good fortune come to you.

  • Thanks. Hope you still buy the book anyway... it'll make the 'good fortune' come sooner ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • My favorite! Kevin Ho is the man! I always enjoy watching him. Again and again and again... how about...that was pretty noice, one more time yo!

  • Thanks Bone, I really appreciate it. Hope all is well with you in Viet Nam.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • its great!! good job

  • hi kev. i'm just about to shoot a dvd and i have a production that was inspired by the move at 00:51. could you give me the name of the production so i can credit you?

  • The production is called 'Static 4'.

By the way, on your profile it says "Name: Bone Ho". Whassupwitdat??

    -Kev, The Virts

  • me and my friend share an account and he put it on there for fun. probably gonna change it soon

  • Just read thru a few comments, I didn't notice this lol.

  • I bought this book a while ago and I have to say that it is great. I have incorporated the Visa Switch into a trick and use most of these tricks a lot. My favorite of the book is Chaser because it is fun to do. I would like to see you do some of these tricks in a performance video

    , Camel/ Cam L

  • Hey, can you make your own website and sell individual download tricks? I REALLY want to learn the inverse impulse! :)

  • 7,000 views....Congrats!!!

  • very visual...i like it...

  • I guess it was An Ok book

Not very fast for me but still

    good job

  • Don't worry. Perfecting your mater'l is nothing compared to creating your mater'l!!

    NOTHING!!

    -Kev, The Virts

  • No matter how much you crate, you can never scratch the possibilities thats what magic is.

ITS AN ARTFORM, YOU DUMB MOTHERFUCKERS.

  • ahahahaha Blunkeh.

    that made me laugh.

    but it's so true.

    LEARN TO FLORISH.

  • I got your book.... its great!!

  • what name is song ?

  • If you read the description which everyone should be, it's by Lemon Jelly.

  • Hey Kevin, just want to say that SO is amamzing. All the material is very very practical. My personal favourite is long division. It made my eyes pop when i saw it in the trailer the first time =P

  • What is the name of the change in the end of the video please?

    Thanx

  • bob change

  • i just bought this

    rapes ass man!

    thanks

  • keevinn

i know this has not much relation to your smooth operations video :P but

when are the virts gna update!!

  • kevin are you related to bone ho? o_x

  • Haha... 'Ho' is just a common last name among asians. We're not actually related in any way ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • I heard someone say that Bone's your uncle. I guess I silly.

    o_OmgWTF

  • does anyone else's neck hurt after flourishing for a long amount of time??? from looking down and flourshing so much my neck is killing me

  • kevin I have your book is awesome but I'm from argentina I know little english but I am learning yeaaahah

kevin ho and dan and dave are the best!!

  • Hey kevin i have a question, i bought this booklet (and its awesome BTW) and i was just wondering, were you really serious about Taking the Piss and Thicker Than Water? Cuz it really doesnt seem very hygenic to me. (and dont tell me to piss off either)

  • Despite what I wrote about blood and urine, I actually have a very *dry* sense of humor.

    A hur hur hur.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • so, you were kidding about that stuff? cuz i really cant imagine you (or anybody for that matter) practicing piss in the pants regularly.

  • I would also like to see "taking the piss"

    in action.

    Quick Question-

Do your hands hurt from flourishing.

I do a a lot oh O.H cuts and my wrist starts to hurt after a while

  • When I first started out, my fingers would get a little fatigued from having to stretch so much. After about a year I got used to having a pack of cards in hand, so now I don't experience the same difficulties.

Just keep going at it, and eventually you'll be able to get over this small hurdle and be on your way to some serious bad-asstry.

    -Kev, The Virts

P.S: (I'm working on a DVD for 'Taking the Piss' and all of its many applications. Check back on Magic Makers for more details)

  • Thanks and Great Work.

    I Guess Your Right

  • You know what would be cool

Performances of the other three effects

I have the book but its harder to do it if you don't know what it looks like.

I got the Collectors and Punk'd but the other ones...

  • It would be cool - however, the reason why I published my magic in book format was so that people would be more free to experiment with the effects and handling inside, figuring out for themselves what worked best in their case. As a result, I wouldn't suggest looking forward to any new magic videos from me anytime soon ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • i love racooooooooooooon

  • insane! but i love it :D

  • What do YOU do, in the bath?

  • This is one of the best flourish/trick trailer I've seen in a long time. Great job! I wanna see more!

  • WOW~ nice video~ good video editing... great sleight of hand~

  • looks awesome and the song of this trailer is very good :p

  • Lemon jelly??

Hmmm...who could have POSSIBLY given you this song....

    ;)

  • A friend of mine introduced me to their song 'Space Walk' off of Lost Horizons, and I really liked the way they sounded so I decided to check the rest of their stuff out.

It's fantastic stuff - I introduced Dan and Dave to them and they ended up using 'His Majesty King Raam' in the Surfaced teaser.

So, yeah... special thanks to that friend for letting me know about Lemon Jelly.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • :P I have it now, thanks alot kev im really enjoying it

  • i'm having a lot of trouble doing the raccoon flourish

  • Bob change is cool but some times i will flash.

  • You guys should release a companion DVD. That would rock my socks off.

  • congrats with the notes . i will be buying them soon.

  • Dang Kevin, one sick trailer that was. Stuck with the word "smooth"; the word is like screaming through out the video. Great job man.

  • Kevin:

I just pee-ed in my pants. You will be receiving my lawyer's letter soon, for I'll be suing you for dirtying my chair.

    - harapan. magic!

  • Funny that you should mention peeing in your pants, because there's a *very* interesting item on page 53 in the notes...

    -Kev, The Virts

  • wow do you serious do what you do on p.53???

  • Not as often as I do what's mentioned on p.49...

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Dude... I honestly laughed my ass off when I read "Taking the Piss."

  • it's been awhile since i've done magic too. I've got to get this.

  • im buying it now;p its been 3 months since i have stopped flourishing and magic,,,,,thanks to u im back at it:D! thanks!!!

  • Who edited this vid?

    Looks great

  • As said in the 'More Info' section, the video was shot and edited by Dave Buck.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • congrats dude ur vids are amazing

  • Sweeeeeeeet stuff Kev! Congratulations! Recognition finds those who are talented...not to mention badass material is a must. Will definately be picking this up soon.

    -Andrei Jikh

  • Congratulations Kevin... this is amazing... I wish I could get it.

    -Kirk

  • Hey, Kevin, I was wondering if the move on :42-:44 was D&D's? I remember seeing it somewhere, I think that it was in the System Vault? I'm sorry if I'm wrong.

  • I'm pretty sure the move has been done before, but in the research we did we couldn't find credits for anybody. It's a pretty simple move, so I don't think anyone has laid credit to it.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • The move looks like a variation for a move used in Oz Pearlmans Shotgun Aces

  • What the

  • So do we have to wait for a DVD to learn sick and twisted wings of a mockingbird?

  • Yes...soon as Daren says...but we are not Daren, so 2009 is far :P.

  • Sick and Twisted Wings of the Mockingbird will definitely be taught in DVD format - no way I could have ever wrote up a description for that in a book :P

    -Kev, The Virts

  • buying it in less than a week. Can't wait.

  • I love the 2 color changes.

  • wOw-ness

Hehe.. the fact that there will be shipment to Singapore makes my life so easier. There's a chance I'll get a copy there :P ... CANT WAIT Kev!

  • awesome preview, really smooth video. I'll have to get it too as soon as possible.

  • cool man

    keep it up

    ~Uitgui

  • Hey Kev,

Purchased it the moment I got the mail from the site saying its available.

Sweet as anything. I'm still hoping for the sick and twisted wings someday. Heh.

See you sometime. Whenever that is.

    Cheers.
