  • Cal was pure country. Never sold out.

  • This has to be my most favorite, and most hard hitting reality, song I've ever heard from any artist. I feel the pain in every verse, it's life in every sense of the word.

  • Loved this, thank you for the upload. :)

  • I sure do miss the old country songs of yesteryear

  • why can't we have an oldies radio just for country?

  • a very beautiful voice lonesome

  • takes me back to my countryroots

  • As of Oct 2010 Cal was still living. I know bwcause I spoke to Darlene. He is in falling health and she is blessed to live in a loving communtity! Awesome Legand

  • Thanks for all of these...Wow, how we had forgot how we enjoyed this man.

  • This is what country music is all about. A song about real life. You don't hear much like this on the radio these days.

  • Enjoyed this

  • gods garden must be beatiful, cos he only picks the best.

  • I just love Cal Smith! His songs take me back to my young days.

  • love this song...it reminds me of my childhood n my dad....when music was enjoyable

  • headed home, I think you mean Carl Smith..he was married to June Carter.

they divorced and he married Goldie Hill..I can remember how mad I was

at him taking her out of the music business..I loved Goldie..She has

one from 1961-62 ..." If I can make it to the dawn"..it was written by

Carl Smith and he recorded it also..but it is the best Goldie Hill songs..

Cal Smith was in Branson the last time I saw him..hope this helps.

  • John Anderson should apologize!

  • Pure country. His best song!

  • cal smith is still alive and living near branson

  • great singer. cal smith is still alive.Smith he is 78 yrs old.

  • An amazing artist. His songs sure paint clear pictures... I love that his songs take the time to tell the story instead of just rushing thru

  • I haven't heard this song in many years. I still remember it though.

This song was truly from the 'Golden Era' of music.

It's so well written and well performed that you can easily picture what it's about. It's as if you're actually there!

It's really nice to hear these oldies. These songs will live on forever.

  • really a great song i didnt know this song exsisted ........:)

  • Don't know how many know we just lost another legend.Cal Smith. May he rest in Peace

  • I know that CARL Smith died, sure you're not thinking about him? Can't find anything on Cal dying..

  • @wilburscott A lot of people get Cal Smith (born Calvin Grant Shofner) sonfused with Carl Smith (born Carl Milton Smith). CARL Smith is no longer with us, CAL Smith is still living but I have heard he isn't in the best of health right now.
