This 'say one thing and mean the complete opposite' reminds me of apologetics. Y'know, how "Here's how you keep slaves" somehow means "Slavery is wrong".
Huge feminist here, and I found it funny. We all know women aren't nearly as emotional, irrational, obsessive, blah blah blah as society stereotypes us to be. Just as we know there are tons of men who care more about other things than sex, take interest in appearance, aren't stupid, etc. etc. etc.
People, people, people, people. Not Woman, Man, Woman, Man..... :u
Haha, this is a perfect portrayal of women. It's just a matter of how much the psychosis manifests that's the thing. All women think these things, but whether or not it bothers them or they actually voices them gives them their psychosis.
@proprodigySD Umm, no - "all women" do NOT think these things. This is a very funny, but very broad, portrayal of some of the stereotypes of women. Saying all women are like this is like saying all guys are sexist pigs that cheat on their wives and sit in front of the TV all day, swilling beer with their hands down the front of their pants, which is true for some, but certainly not all. If all the women in your life are "psychos", maybe it's a reflection of you.
@PrettyBonesArt You see how you overreacted to a pithy comment on a youtube video? That's sort of like being an obsessive, ridiculous, overemotional psycho. Calm down. I was having a laugh at my own expense as a woman. Your inability to do so sort of proves the point.
@proprodigySD Amazing - just from reading a few characters on a screen you painted me as "an obsessive, ridiculous, overemotional psycho" and now "furious and petty". I only presented a countering opinion to your statement that all women suffer from "psychosis", as opposed to calling you names and inferring I could somehow read your mind. I'll let anyone who sees this decide for themselves who the "overemotional, petty, obsessive psycho" is.
"We don't have the Rosetta Stone in our possession, but if you just tell us what you want I'm sure we'd be happy..." lol This "Eve" is a carbon copy of my ex-wife. Thank Deity for divorce.
@williebori That was the whole point/joke of this episode. You are one of the few to actually get it. Give yourself a pat on the back -- or wherever you'll most appreciate it.
Brian I am a fan, the clips are amazing, no one should find this one offensive except people that are uptight. You shouldn't have apologized in the funny way that you did. Most people just throw -isms and they don't even know their meaning. Keep up the good work...
beautiful "babies"? I haven't seen your kids, but I'm sure they are beautiful...do they have Dad's penchant for witty repartee? Perhaps you meant "beautiful babes", and I concur that Amy, like my wife, is a beautiful babe...the fact that I attracted one that beautiful required nothing short of serious Divine intervention!
@kuhlgi "Beautiful babies" is a reference to the movie, "Swingers," which I highly recommend. It was written by the director of "Iron Man" and "Cowboys and Aliens." If you like Mr. Deity, I think you'll like "Swingers."
Brian, am I understanding correctly that Amy is your lovely bride? Or did I get that wrong? If so, I would cite this as incontrovertible truth of a benevolent Creator. booyah.
@misterdeity Amen, Mister Deity! P.S. Awesome video and anyone who says this is an unfair stereotype or women are nothing like this - you're either gay, a girl or have never met a girl before. Of all of Mr Deity's mind bending, amazing and spectacular powers - watching him say 'sleep' just made me jealous as hell! Absolutely hysterical and dead on but so are the ones that lampoon men as sloppy, amoral, lazy buffoons who don't listen to women - did you get any flack over those?

The degree to which you were compelled to grovel outweighs what offense may have been taken. But there is a real reason why this happened. This piece didn't groove like the others. If the same piece had appeared in the context of a series about men and women (yawn) it would have fit. I'm glad it doesn't. Soldier on.
@Canute27 What everyone with sensitivities misses in this bit, is that to me the joke was that even the Creator doesn't understand women. The other funny thing to me is that I think Eve is very reasonable in what she wants, and I don't think it's an unfair stereotype to suggest that women really do want men to know how to behave without explicitly having to tell the men. To me, the joke is how stupid and clueless the guys are. But take it as you will.
So, I know this is old, but I just found Mr. Deity. In your "nonpology" (ugh, did you have to do that? it happens so often for real, it's kind of not funny), you state that you've played to stereotypes before, but have you ever SHOWN them? Like, if Mr. D and Larry are TALKING shit about some group, that just proves they're dumb, not that the stereotype is true. But to SHOW a woman acting that way makes it seem true (within the show at LEAST), and that supports people who REALLY believe that.
You call this stereotyping?? Satire?? Because for a second there it all looked uncomfortably familiar. Any guy telling you not all females are like that is probably scared out of his wits for the female standing behind him, looking over his shoulders feigning disinterest.
I have to watch this every 2 weeks or so! This is the most awesome of the Deity vids. The undertone remarks by the guys are ........just right on! Excellent!
To Janaoo: I dated one of those types and it was a short romance in that I bolted, so yes they do exist. To Mr. Deity and the staff: Awesome! I thoroughly am enjoying these skits and hopefully you will make it to television.
I like that this actually goes over how men and women, usually, speak differently. Here, Eve expects Mr.D and Larry to consider her feelings, and Mr.D and Larry expect her to just take action. I like this. ^_^
Though, if I ever met a girl who responded like this, I'd have to either punch her or laugh.

@NottyElmo Its easier to attack mr.deity than religious books. You'd be surprised at how acceptable sexism is to the religious when they have to question their faith over it.
This is going to sound a bit sexist, but the woman playing eve is fucked up gorgeous. Glad I have this on the season 3 dvd or I might have missed this sketch.
This movie is right on the money. From my experience, most women act exactly like that. They expect men to read their minds (not gonna' happen in the at least next 2 evolutionary steps). And what you see here is the best case scenario. The worst case would be to give you a hint, and then not to say anything else. And in a few weeks, when other "mistakes" add up, to just throw everything in your face, as if there was anything you could do at that point. So... great job with the movie!
I'm not offended by it, but I have to admit I think this is one of the less funny episodes, mostly because this kind of joke has been done a lot before and doesn't put as unique a spin on things as most Deity episodes do. I think that Deity has done some great stuff with female stereotypes before via Lucy, who is just a riot and plays with feminine stereotypes in a way that's more clever, IMO.
Still, I <3 Deity either way. Not *every* episode is going to be super awesomely perfect.
I watched the ep with the apology for this (still pretty sure that the apology was supposed to be funny). As a woman I have to say that this episode rules. :P
@sulljoh1 Because, if you check out his highly ironic "apology" at the end of the wrong number episode, there were some people who took offence in the stereotypical display of women (as opposed to all the other stereotypes that have been featured so far) in the rather typical manner of uninformed feminists who fail to live up to their own equalitarian credo. :)
@crimsonsmirk I saw that. It was funny. But c'mon people get a life! If you are curious look up his Mormon experience interview. You can find the MP3. He says the misogynistic stuff is just so fun to do. :-P
For those complaining... This is supposed to be a comedy and looking at the whole god thing from a comedic standpoint.. Somethings are meant to be ironic and a bit offensive.. Get a sense of humor..
@Slacktoo Trust me, they haven't changed that much in 6,000 years.
To be fair, we males haven't changed that much either. And that's true no matter if you read the Bible, subscribe to theories about hunter/gatherer stages of human evolution, or some mixture thereof.
I'd love to donate....but what can you um, kinda do for me? I mean, umm, I'd really like to stop by and see Eve for a few....ya know! Yeah, that would be worth a serious donation.
Hey! You're god...I know you can make it happen, so...whatty ya say?
@Karoke77 - How can you say God is Fiction, when you can see him in these many videos! Because a video shows him as real, it must be true, right? Much like if a book says something is true, it must be, right? :))
I personally know at least 6 women that act like 'Eve' here no less than 3 times a week (got so bad we had to stop hanging out with most of them). I also know 2 guys who act this way about twice a month (ex-coworkers of mine). So its not limited to just women, but in my personal experience, far more common.
If this drove you to sensitivity training I am saddened. People are far too sensitive about the wrong things. Pointing out annoying trends being one of them.
lol this is awesome, though further reinforces why I'm significantly more comfortable in the company of other guys. hmmm... there's an idea for your team to explore! Keep up the awesome work!
@janaoo4 I've put the word out to a bunch of my guy friends. We should have a list compiled for you by the middle of next week. Get ready for some major ripping.
Hahahaha send on, send on. Seriously, girls who act like that are drama queens, control freaks, and well...narcissistic bitches to say the least. Remember, everything is about them lolz.
Loved Eve! She is GORGEOUS and a good sport to poke fun at women the way you do in this episode. (All in good fun of course.)
I gotta say I really dig it when you can squeeze in a Mormon reference like I think you did here with Eve's dialog about being equal to Adam - wasn't that from the temple ceremony? Awesome!
so awesome!! I love your work, mrdeity :)

The degree to which you were compelled to grovel outweighs what offense may have been taken. But there is a real reason why this happened. This piece didn't groove like the others. Mr. Deity is a study of the religion neurosis. The connection to this theme, here, was that the woman was Eve. The God character appears suddenly reasonable next to her. If the same piece had appeared in the context of a series about men and women (yawn) it would have fit. I'm glad it doesn't. Soldier on.

Female pms...even the Almighty is no match for it haha.

I watched the ep with the apology for this (still pretty sure that the apology was supposed to be funny). As a woman I have to say that this episode rules. :P

"are they all going to be like this" "i dont know, its the purely organic model"
clearly god started the pms cycle at the point of creation...

Why is this episode so controversial? It is one of the best.
sulljoh1 1 year ago
@sulljoh1 Because, if you check out his highly ironic "apology" at the end of the wrong number episode, there were some people who took offence in the stereotypical display of women (as opposed to all the other stereotypes that have been featured so far) in the rather typical manner of uninformed feminists who fail to live up to their own equalitarian credo. :)
crimsonsmirk 1 year ago

God is FICTION.
Karoke77 1 year ago

Love your work.

Awesome!
