I love the chemistry between Aretha and Smokey. In her biography, she talked about crushing on him. I love the way she sings to him, so convictive and genuine. The Queen. And Franky sucks.
. . .and you sir are wrong wrong wrong. Aretha's voice masterful slides along every note of a D minor blue scales, and, for shear emotional effect responded to Smokey's rather "monotone" verse with another monotone verse on the A-note of that scale. Proving once again, why she was (and is) one of the greatest blues singers to bless a microphone. Now, when you can say YOU can do than any better, then maybe then you can criticize The Queen of Soul.
how can u not like arethas voice?. even though she has laryngitus here. but watch her sing call me in 1971 on here live. and tell me that u dont like her voice. and i will tell u seek help.
Frankie Valli looks (and sounds) like he's got some black relatives in his family tree. For real though! He might not claim them, but to me it seems obvious.
Aretha and Smokey first met each other in 1946 gee3dee. Smokey was friends with Aretha's late brother Cecil and he remembered seeing her in The Music Room at the age of four playing Piano like a Veteran.
yeah, these guys, though they are the greatest was no match to Ms. young Fierce Voiced Aretha. She knew she was knocking them out of the way with her vocals. Look at her smiling...that's Ree for you.
this is hilarious! why was Frankie Valli on stage? and Smokey's soft falsetto didn't stand a chance competing with the young queen's fierce vocals. she nearly knocks these two boys off stage with that voice. it's a great video.
Maybe so, but remember Smokey & Aretha were old friends from Detroit. Smokey first met her when he was only Six years old and she was about Three through her late Brother Cecil. No matter what happened in their career, they always managed to maintain a solid Friendship.
@vinvid2u It was just a collaboration so they were able to get their music to audiences that they may never have bought their music. Also, keep in mind that Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin knew each other as Children back in 1946. Smokey was Best Friends with Aretha's Brother Cecil and he met her when she was around Three Years Old.
Each one have so much to be grateful for. Smokey was inducated at The Kennedy Center Honors last year. Aretha was the first woman inducted into the R & R Hall Of Fame, while Jersey Boys about Frankie Valli is a Broadway Sensation
I love this they complement each other well.....smokey was so young and sweet.
