Thanks for posting this, I had this on a really old RealPlayer/RealAudio file back in the late 1990s and when that computer died I lost this song, haha.
This is a unreleased song that she only played once in 1995. She never put it on an album. Somebody recorded this from the audience. This bootleg has been floating around for years. Definitely from 1995. I can't tell you where it was performed at the moment. It's slipped my mind.
@greezus OMG!!! I am SO thrilled this song is out there. I had forgotten all about it...haven't listened to my cassettes in a loong time . I made this bootleg at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival during their Friday night song swap (it's quite possible it was in 1995. I could dig my tapes out of the closet if anyone is dying to know for sure). That's Greg Brown's voice at the beginning. Also "Laura's dance" refers to Laura Love who also played at FRFF that year. Thanks for the memories!!
Ani IS amazing, isn't she....she just has a way with words that NO ONE can even come CLOSE to matching....I've tried to find someone since I started listening to her back in '91ish...it's just NOT possible...to play off one of her quotes, "she's like the rest of the human race, she is one of a kind..."
