I remember crying so much when it was aired. From then on I never enjoyed a Robin Hood episode... Marian made it for me, I think that's why the series died eventually :( sad sad times
This is the point when a perfectly good show was ruined forever in the name of "drama". Carter's death I can get over but this is fucking disgraceful. Shame on you BBC.
The title is misleading. Marian didn't break Guy's heart. In this episode it becomes clear that he doesn't love her. She told him that she would willingly marry him if he killed the Sheriff and saved the King. Instead he decides to go with the Sheriff and plans to FORCE her to marry him later.
Marian deserved to get stabbed because she didn't love a man who burnt down her house, continually lied to her face, punched her father in front of her, and forced her to go to the Holy Land against her will?
Guy's a possessive and sociopathic dick. Even HE knows that killing her was wrong. Sometimes the fangirls just piss me off, every word Marian said in this scene is true.
There it ABSOLUTELY no excuse for what Guy does in this scene. He's a traitor to his king, his country, and Marian's simply pointing that out to him. As for 'breaking his heart' it's not her fault he's a possessive loon. She gave him chance after chance to do the right thing, and is simply calling him out on every terrible thing he's done.
@MrImastinker Yeah, but to be honest she did break his heart. She led him on and was basically laughing behind his back with Robin, after he saved her, and he stood up against death for her, and came back when there was trouble. Marian wasn't just pointing it out, she was shoving it in his face that she loved someone else, when he was obviously upset. And as much as I love Marian, some part of me thinks that she deserves it. And Guy obviously regrets what he did.
@KahlanPendragon Of course he regrets it, because he realizes it was wrong to do so. Sure, she's laughing, sure she's being harsh, but what she's saying is the truth, and the truth hurts sometimes. I understands she probably shouldn't have been shoving it in his face, but he's done terrible things, like forcing her to marry him. His feelings for her may be genuine, but she's only doing all this to save the king.
Though doing it with a sword pointed at her wasn't very smart.
This show really turned Marion into a bitch in the end. She's laughing in his face and mocking when before in this season she was really starting to like him. I feel more sorry for Guy than for the rest of the characters.
i didn't feel sorry for her a second... 1. how could she tell him that without thinking of the consequences? 2. how on earth did she refuse THAT man? Oo
I agree that the characters prettiness does help you forgive/understand his actions. However, what he did was hardly out of character, he's killed loads of people throughout the show. What does shock is that he kills her. But if we're talking about bad behaviour, what about her. She did after all lie to him, lead him on for months. She used him, allowed him to make sacrifices for her then turned on him as soon as possible. Given his history with violence, was his reaction really that surprising?
It was simply the case 'if I can't have you then no one will' unjustifiable yet it communicates the love Guy had for Marian, so his heart was indeed broken and Marian made a huge mistake by rubbing it in.
The only solution is for Marian to have been a twin. That way she gets to marry Robin and the other one, let's call her Georgina, marries Guy...come on he's not the sort that a girl would have to be forced to marry. Plus if he had what he wanted, (Marian/Georgina) could have kept him on the right path. Everyone's happy...damn I sould have been one of Robin's men, I'm not a man but that won't matter since they've allowed Djak.
I absolutely hate the way they make him turn "good" in the end he is a bastard! In the beginning he gets a girl pregnant and then leaves the baby to die plus he kills Marian? I dont think I can forgive Robin for teaming up with him!!
It looks like it really killed Guy (emotionally) to do that. But really, what did she expect? You don't say something like that to a volatile person holding a sword at you!
Every time I watch this I cannot but help feel that she was goading him into killing her. Otherwise, it was pretty stupid of her to have said that right then and there.
In all honesty, what she said was rather stupid :P She didn't have to come out with the whole Robin thing there and then... she could have just said that she could never be with a person who had wanted to kill the King, or something. No need to have the whole haha-I-hated-you-the-whole-time-and-you-never-knew thing!
how stupid do you have to be to kil the one you´re suppose to love?!
Guy of Gisborne...once I thought he oculd be agood man but he has lost all his chances...how could people blame Marion?! don´t you see SHE SAVED THE KING!!! SHE´S SO BRAVE SHE SACRIFICED HERSELF FOR SOMEONE ELSE!!! my complain goes to BBC HOW COULD THEY KILLED HER T.T

i know loads of people have complained about what marion said, but i can understand why she did it.
i think marion knew she was going to die as soon as she saw guy. i mean, lets face it, she knew she was on her own, no one was there to protect her or help her and she knew she was the only barrier between the king and guy.
i reckon she was trying to buy time for the others to get there and if that meant sacrificing herself, then so be it.
I tell u. The only actrees who looked good with RA is Daniela. No other actressess that I've seen so far has the great chemistry with him. He also looked damn good in both North n South n Stirke Back
Most Robin Hood movies present Guy of Gisbourne as an abolutely evil guy. This one shows him as human, grey, neither black nor white. He is pushed towards evil by the circumstances of his life, but he has a good side in him. And if Marian had truly loved him, she could have helped him become better. There is no excuse for his act...although we find an excuse for Othello, right? But there is no excuse for her behaviour either. Yes, she did fight for England but she led him through so shamelessly.
I realize it's fiction and I do so love the characters but It sends a bad message when one thinks they can claim a right to murder someone for being scorned. One has to wonder what kind of love they had for the victim in the first place.
Marian was just a big tease. That's all she was. She intentionally lead Guy on, of course it'd end up this way. To hell with Marian, she wasn't worth Guy.
Guy was just a better written, more interesting and more charismastic character than Robin. The writers realised EVERYONE was shipping Guy/Marian, so they had Guy cross the moral event horizon. Typical
@Tabroxfcc please Guy was a minipulator and no way in hell deserved Marian. It was always gonna be her and Robin because she never stopped loving him and he never stopped loving her. btw, you might want to get your facts straight because Robin and Marian had a much bigger fanbase.
Seriously! How could anyone choose skinny little boy Robin Hood (Lord of the Tights) over freakin' Richard Armitage aka Super Sexy Guy?! Don't make any kind of sense to me!
Marion was a bitch in this series. She strung Guy along just for the sake of it, even when it wasn't necessary (see the episode where her and Robin were stuck in the tree). The joke of it is that there was blatently more chemistry between her and Guy than there ever was with her and Robin!
By the way... how supid is she??? How can she tell Guy, who is holding a sword in his hand, she loves his archenemy Robin Hood, and laugh that way?? I guess it must be hard for everyone not at least to push her for saying it that way!
Shall I say LIKE or DISLIKE?? Because I really love the serie, but I hate that she dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the most terrible thing they could have done. Seperate Robin and Marian. Tz... Idiots. And "being together in death" doesnt count!
i used to be obsessed by this series, and i am still in love with sir guy of gisborne even to this day.he was really misunderstood, life and circumstance had almost forced him to be the person he was. he did have a heart, he really did love marian, and all she did was lead him on and throw it back in his face. guy could have been so one dimensional, but RA is a great actor and really allowed you to see into his soul. id much rather have him than robin any day :)
@Shpowzurry He's not, that's Guy... but the costume designer really didn't care in the first two series. In one of the eps Marion's pretty much wearing an 18th century ballgown in a casino...
@abdaloser I laughed SO hard when I read that. That was the most brilliant thing I've heard today. I'm still laughing so i'm just gonna stop trying to type
This show might still be on if it hadn't been for their horrible choice here. If not, it at LEAST could have ended on a high note. Season 3 just simply wasn't the same without Marian. I don't know what they were thinking by killing her off but they should know by now that it was a BIG mistake.
@xxxX90210Xxxx Well its not the fact we choose not to see it, it is basically Marian rips the dudes heart out. How can you blame him from acting on instinct? You saw the look on his face when he relaized what happened. Alot of people act on instinct. It does prove though, do not hurt someone when they have a sword and your right infront of them. XD
@AustenFugitive She could say those crap that she says every time....." There is something good in you Gisbourne..." And then they argue and then arrow goes trough guys heart (not from marian but from robin)
This scene plays with your emotions so much, you feel really sorry for Guy, his dreams being crushed and being told that the woman he loves loves his enemy and whatnot, then you feel sorry for Marion, cuz obviously, she's dead. Then when it all goes in slowmotion, you feel realllllyyyy sorry for Robin, then all the others when they're all running, then you feel sorry for Guy again because he looks like he really regrets what he's done.
Mannn.... But Guy is still my favourite, he's so tasty, ^^
I think Guy is a pitiful man. He knows that his actions are wrong, but he still makes them. In season 3 I actually feel more sympathy for him. But it's real sad Marian dies, her character was pretty nice.
''I rather die than to be with you...'' Well, she made her decision xDD Marian should have never played with Guy's feelings.Of course he shouldn't have killed her, but yeah xD Is so love these series <3
I Don't Think It Was The "I Don't Love You" Bit, He'd Of Forced Her Into A Marriage, One Way Or Another. But It Was The Fact She Said She Loved His Rival, Thats What Tipped Guy Over The Edge.
..BBC are really started to piss on English folk legends, in 5-10 years from now we'll be seeing a Black Robin Hood, Black King Arthur and Asian Sherlock Holmes so that the ''youff'' can relate to it.
" All good things must come to an end". I LOVED MARIAN! & Robin & Guy & Allen- I can't believe they killed them off. Well at least the god damn sheriff died. I loved how Much provided comic relief. This show was awesome, I wish i could still keep watching it.
They never necessarily canceled the show. Both Lucy (Mirian) and Jonas (Robin) claimed they wanted to move on, further their career in Hollywood. I just wish they hadn't... This show is the best.
@dk410 No. They set Archer up to take Robin's place for a *possible s4* but in the end it was scrapped. Richard Armitage (Guy) has moved on, he starred in 2 seasons (and shooting a 3rd) of spooks, and has his own action series Strike Back which is set for a second season this time next year. Out of the whole cast, he's definitely gone the farthest since his departure. He's quite the leading man.
the true maid marion was a worrior, she was called "maid" because she was a single woman with no ties, she associated with the outlaws who had to know how to fight. i would have liked to have seen the character of marion as a real physical fighter, not just mental worrior.
Really hunny, you couldn't have lied to him a LITTLE longer?
I liked Marian...then she got a little annoying when she thought she could handle everything on her own and didn't listen to Robin or Guy.
But honestly, there are better things to say to Guy other than, "Oh yeah...btw...I HATE your guts, and I LOVE Robin Hood. We are totes gonna get married and have little babies with green hoodies. So cute."
Seriously girlfriend. I feel bad for Guy...and Robin.
oh my god. i just finished watching north and south with richard armitage and the endin is so sweet and lovely and he looks almost the same in that as he does in this and it is such a shock seeing him killing marian. blurgh. however, guy of gisborne is still awesome
@lonesomelittlegirl LOL I"m doing the same thing, he's so dark but so sweet in there and he kills this woman just wow, still he's just as hot haha I think my Darcy craze is coming to an end lol
@luna4ever36 richard armitage will always be amazingly hot. and he's so wonderful in north and south!! my darcy craze will never end. there's just a few more cute classsics heroes in my heart with him is all
@lonesomelittlegirl hehe true, I trying to get over the darcy craze with this hot hot subsitute, but yeah, itsa not exactly workin out. Sigh..I guess it is gonna last forever.=D
@luna4ever36 oohhhh i never want to get over my darcy craze. it may have subsided, but its still there!!! i love classic heroes!!! they're all wonderful. except for the more recent darcy. the one opposite keira knightely. only colin firth for me. and the rest of the jane austen heroes!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO man y did marian have to tell him like that y not when Robin was there and the rest of the hood then robin would hav killed Guy(the idiotic bastard) and shreeded him to pieces!
This episode totally made me cry, not so much cos Marion died, but more cos she broke Guy's heart!!! She actually gave him hope and then was just like well actually i prefer Robin!!! What she said was sooo harsh i was like awwww bless him! :(
lol i just re-read that and think i may be getting into it A BIT TOO MUCH! :)
she tried to change him and if she had been successful they could have been together but he showed he was only good to her but cruel to others not like robin who was good to everyone. but they could have written a better speech for her to say
ok, I didn't like Marian... but just... don't you see you bitch that you just made it happen? mean, you searched it, all the way of the second season I tought you were gonna end up with Guy (wich would have been great for him he deserved it) but you turn away from him and decide just there that you prefer Robin? Please!!! pfff such non realistic girl... I would have jumped on him and kiss him, even if it was to be stabbed to death after... XD
terrible sad but it made the whole show more realsitic it does not end the chessy "and they all lived happily ever after" it shows the real danger people can die and get hurt
I think you're right (about Guy over-reacting a bit).
(Okay, yeah, he probably *felt like* he was being stabbed through the heart. On the other hand...Marian wasn't the one who did it *literally*. Um...slight over-reaction, Guy?)
I just don effin' believe it. A scene where Marian gets stabbed through the heart and it's titled "Marian breaks Guy's heart". Because the thing about murdering someone is really just a small detail and also perfectly justified - I mean, telling a man you love someone else? The bitch had it coming.
@sabrinaqu dude, i totally agree with you. 1st and 2nd seasons were totally the glory days. and when marian said that i was like NO! that was a stupid thing to do!! WHY?!?!
worst season ending ever, honestly this just destroys any feeling of optimism, it goes complet against the human spirit.......fcking which writer came up with it must actually be retarded
Marian had the right to love whoever she wanted, and she didn't deserve to die for that choice.
Guy made his choices too, and in this episode he chooses the Sheriff and ambition, despite Marian giving him the chance to do otherwise and promising that she'll speak to King Richard on his behalf.
But even on his way to kill the king Guy STILL tells her that they'll "be together"? Guh? I don't blame Marian for washing her hands of him, no matter how good looking he might be.
@Ravenya03 If I were Guy i wouldn't have trusted her either. How many times had she lied to him? How many times has she betrayed him? And now because she is a 'good' person he's supposed to just buy that she's telling the truth? I mean considering the time period, i understand his actions and motivations, even if they are sort of harsh at times. But you can't really compare him to Robin/Marian, cause his life was NOTHING like theirs, and it shaped him differently. Doesn't make him a bad person.
@Ravenya03 One can tell through the series that given the opportunity to chose between reprehensible and shitty/harsh, he would choose shitty/harsh. Like with those kids in season 2 that he chose not to kill and got in trouble for. In that time period Guy would hardly be considered the devil, it was the way things were done, the way people survived. Guy was about survival, you can't fault him for that. He wanted to be with Marian and she should have used that to help them both not just herself.
@Ravenya03 Well, yes. This is true that Guy made terrible decisions. On the other hand, Marian manipulated both him and Robin, and then somehow thought that this obviously disturbed man wasn't going to snap when she proves to him that she used and manipulated him, pretending to fall for him and using his obsession with her to get what she wanted?
@Ravenya03 Thank you so much for saying this! All these people complaining about Marian being cruel to Guy are getting on my nerves. As beautiful as Guy is, he is a villain, and Marian should not be blamed in the least for what she does. She's tried to make him a better person and he's proved that it cannot be done.
@AustenFugitive: You' re right. You know what, I bet that most of the people who try to justify Guy's behaviour wouldn't try to find excuses for him if he were played by an ugly or plain-looking actor. And about Marian "leading him on", well, it's not like he left her much of a choice, is it? I do think that Guy is the most interesting character in the series (in fact he's the only reason I continued watching the show) and by no means is he a two-dimensional monster, but he IS a villain.
@pitsinokaki Thank you so much for saying this! If it helps, people can put this into context. Pretend you just had a really nasty break-up with your SO, and you said some really awful things to them. Is it then okay for them to kill you? No, it's not. Not even if they are as good looking as Guy, murder is wrong, and it is never the victim's fault.
And BTW how can they kill off such a major part of the story? She is suppose to end up living happily ever after w/ Robin. It just screws up the whole time ine of events.
@MsLaab07 It does! She's supposed to die after she and Robin has lived together for many years and had children and so on. I really can't see why she had to die.
Marian was not trying to throw anyting up in that back stabbing POS's face. She was So happy that she finally realized that she completely and totaly loved Robin and did not have to hide it anymore! If you watch the making of the season on DVD she will tell you that she played that part the way she did so that ppl would NOT think that she was being vindictive and throwing it up in his face!
He may be be a villain but he also had a heart which was longing to be loved and Marian literally threw it back in his face.
We all have the dark and the bright side in ourselves. Who knows, maybe if were played like Guy for years, by a person we love, maybe we could do the same? Maybe few well-chosen words are enough to do it? I don't know. But his story is so tragic. I cannot help it, I feel sorry for him much more, then for Marian.
I think it's good Marian finally told him, I mean you dont want her to e with a guy she doesn't love, but still if he really loved her would he stab her? Seriously?
Extremely angry man who is slightly crazy at this point comes out with a MASSIVE sword and KILLING on his mind- and she decides that THAT is the time to taunt him, laugh in his face, and tell him that she will never be with him.
OMGG MARIEN IS SO ANNOYINNGG GUY IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOTT HES SUCH A HUNK !!! HE LOOKS LIKE HUGH JACKMAN <3_<3 'hugh jackman is hotter though'

@Tabroxfcc please Guy was a minipulator and no way in hell deserved Marian. It was always gonna be her and Robin because she never stopped loving him and he never stopped loving her. btw, you might want to get your facts straight because Robin and Marian had a much bigger fanbase.

What an idiot! For two reasons!
a) mocking a guy (who clearly has anger management issues) holding a sword.
b) choosing little boy Robin over Tall Dark and Handsome Guy?
SERIOUSLY?

Marion was a bitch in this series. She strung Guy along just for the sake of it, even when it wasn't necessary (see the episode where her and Robin were stuck in the tree). The joke of it is that there was blatently more chemistry between her and Guy than there ever was with her and Robin!
miffythevampirebat 1 year ago 3
By the way... how supid is she??? How can she tell Guy, who is holding a sword in his hand, she loves his archenemy Robin Hood, and laugh that way?? I guess it must be hard for everyone not at least to push her for saying it that way!
This was kind of a suicide!!

i used to be obsessed by this series, and i am still in love with sir guy of gisborne even to this day.he was really misunderstood, life and circumstance had almost forced him to be the person he was. he did have a heart, he really did love marian, and all she did was lead him on and throw it back in his face. guy could have been so one dimensional, but RA is a great actor and really allowed you to see into his soul. id much rather have him than robin any day :)

I just don effin' believe it. A scene where Marian gets stabbed through the heart and it's titled "Marian breaks Guy's heart". Because the thing about murdering someone is really just a small detail and also perfectly justified - I mean, telling a man you love someone else? The bitch had it coming.

Ravenya03 1 year ago 38
@Ravenya03 If I were Guy i wouldn't have trusted her either. How many times had she lied to him? How many times has she betrayed him? And now because she is a 'good' person he's supposed to just buy that she's telling the truth? I mean considering the time period, i understand his actions and motivations, even if they are sort of harsh at times. But you can't really compare him to Robin/Marian, cause his life was NOTHING like theirs, and it shaped him differently. Doesn't make him a bad person.
AoibheannStateira 1 year ago
@Ravenya03 One can tell through the series that given the opportunity to chose between reprehensible and shitty/harsh, he would choose shitty/harsh. Like with those kids in season 2 that he chose not to kill and got in trouble for. In that time period Guy would hardly be considered the devil, it was the way things were done, the way people survived. Guy was about survival, you can't fault him for that. He wanted to be with Marian and she should have used that to help them both not just herself.
AoibheannStateira 1 year ago
@Ravenya03 ah well shes better off dead shed prob just go shopping for shoes n shit on sat if not
lyndono72 1 year ago
@Ravenya03 Well, yes. This is true that Guy made terrible decisions. On the other hand, Marian manipulated both him and Robin, and then somehow thought that this obviously disturbed man wasn't going to snap when she proves to him that she used and manipulated him, pretending to fall for him and using his obsession with her to get what she wanted?
They're both to blame, I say.
dbvixxen 1 year ago 5
@Ravenya03 MEH, but Guy was tasty :'(
Lighthouserandoms 1 year ago
@Ravenya03 Thank you so much for saying this! All these people complaining about Marian being cruel to Guy are getting on my nerves. As beautiful as Guy is, he is a villain, and Marian should not be blamed in the least for what she does. She's tried to make him a better person and he's proved that it cannot be done.
AustenFugitive 1 year ago
@AustenFugitive: You' re right. You know what, I bet that most of the people who try to justify Guy's behaviour wouldn't try to find excuses for him if he were played by an ugly or plain-looking actor. And about Marian "leading him on", well, it's not like he left her much of a choice, is it? I do think that Guy is the most interesting character in the series (in fact he's the only reason I continued watching the show) and by no means is he a two-dimensional monster, but he IS a villain.
pitsinokaki 11 months ago 5
@pitsinokaki Thank you so much for saying this! If it helps, people can put this into context. Pretend you just had a really nasty break-up with your SO, and you said some really awful things to them. Is it then okay for them to kill you? No, it's not. Not even if they are as good looking as Guy, murder is wrong, and it is never the victim's fault.
AustenFugitive 11 months ago 3
And BTW how can they kill off such a major part of the story? She is suppose to end up living happily ever after w/ Robin. It just screws up the whole time ine of events.

Marian was not trying to throw anyting up in that back stabbing POS's face. She was So happy that she finally realized that she completely and totaly loved Robin and did not have to hide it anymore!
