  • I WANT TO SEE THIS OFF THE GRID HOUSE FINISHED!

  • Cody, I shared this video with some family and friends. It is one of your best, not because of the content but the meaning behind it. It has long been on my favorites list and hope others can see the meaning behind it. Spend time with the generation we about to loose, a generation without computers and knowing the meaning of work. Again thank you for sharing your time with your Grandfather, both of mine were gone at an early age. TPC

  • reminds me of working with my grandfather your a blessed man to still be able to spend time with yours charish every minute because you never no when it may be the last

  • ★★★★★

Very interesting and heart warming to see this video.

  • wow Cody you are talented with gifts. If ya'll dont mind i pray to God to learn me the same gifts talents He gave to you. God willing, your knowledge will be passed onto me then my sons :)

  • I have been watching many of your videos. What you are doing is very inspiring. Although the work is hard it must be exciting to be making your future home with your own two hands and the help of family and friends. Stay safe and good luck.

  • Thanks Condor. I have been getting the word out.

  • What are you planning on doing with all of those planks made of the exterior of the logs? I would imagine they would make a nice looking siding with the bark facing out and the nice roundedness for dimansion.....then again without some sort of sealant the bark would probably fall off and the wood would rot.....but it would be cool none the less.

But there must be something cool to do with those end pieces.

  • Nice work. I love working with the logs. I could tell your in Oregon right away spent most my life outside Eugene. Now up in the Sierra Nevada's and used the chain saw mill for our own housing project. I like the idea of using the ladder as the mill guide, that's smart. Never seen the vertical chainsaw mill you used, but looks like it makes the job quicker. I have my own house project I used cut logs in but not timbers, Best wishes.

  • I so wish my grandfathers were still here to help me build things. I lost one at 69 from leukimia & one at 92 from prostate cancer. I'm so glad yours is there to share this with you!

My Dad will be 83 in September & he is a great teacher, so I have learned alot from him.

  • This is what life's all about. If television aired material of this type and less of the current garbage, we'd all be living much better lives in a much better country.

  • Love to watch and can feel it , in all the videos. We don't treasure them enough!!

  • Cody, I loved this video. The best part is you've captured that time with your grandad. I hope you've already burned the video onto a CD to preserve it forever. I really enjoyed seeing how you cut the timber. I was fascinated. Thanks for going to the trouble to share the adventure with us.

  • Great video!

You are living the greatest of all my dreams.

I lost my Grandfater at 91. I believe people of that age know better than anyone what this nation is facing, and what it may take to survive.

  • Very much enjoyed this...As I was watching, I could not help but to think about all the technology advancement your Grandad has seen over his 90 years...cordless drills, cell phones, computers ect...Be fun to sit down and talk, well listen would be more like it...we can all learn a lot from our elders...Thanks for sharing...Todd

  • He reminds me of and looks exactly like my dad. They don't make em like that anymore. You guys represent the true American Spirit. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Hey Cody, I didn't know your grandfather was Dick Proenneke? XD

Man, I hope when I'm his age I'm that able!!!

  • This was lovely.

  • Great idea using the ladder...

  • 3 disliked, who are these 3 people lol?

What is there to dislike lol

Could it be the snow caped mountains in the background, spending time with family, using equipment?

They must dislike it for the freedom, yeah, that’s it.

  • my favorite!

  • reminds me of working with my dad, he is 70 and can still wear me out. We dont yet have the time in to know what these old guys do. I still have not found anything that feels better then working hard all day......weird

  • Very well done Cody. You put that together great. The fact you had your grandfather there with you helping wth the project was over the top awesome. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks

  • You are blessed...and smart because you realize it.

  • Well, that's just magical. There are not enough eloquent words to convey the joyous impact of observing this video.I never knew my grandad, and my father has been gone for 23 years but this brought back some wonderful memories for me. Thanks for making and sharing it.

  • Where did you find the saw mill rig? (For lack of knowing what it's called). That seems like something well worth having.

  • god bless him and you...i miss my grandpas..so many things i would love to ask them now ..you don't think about stuff when your younger...:(

  • Although we live half world apart, perhaps we share that same good feelings. You make beautiful video Cody. You are able to capture the good feeling n emotion in your video. Btw, What video camera are u using? HD ? Perhaps you should consider making a series on how you do camerawork, video editing, angle shooting, devices etc. in the future. Thanks for sharing.

  • You are a good man Cody. Thanks for sharing this vid with all of us.God bless you and your family.

  • You are a lucky man Wranglerstar. Thanks for sharing.

  • Really neat project Cody! Since the lumber you're using isn't store bought and pressure treated, is there a way you can preserve the wood you cut?

  • One of Your best videos yet

  • Cody I've been watching your video's since you were wranglerbarn and I just want to say your life = my dream.

  • It's amazes me how some people can have such a lonely,un-happy life and to be so petty as to always "dis-like" even vids are great as this one. What's not to like about it?

  • Cody,I know I don't have to tell you how lucky you are to have your Grandad still here.He looks to be in great shape for a man that's been here almost a century.Mt GrandDad passed in '94 and I still think of him everyday.I wish you many more years w/ yours!

  • Awesome Video! Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • God bless Chester at 91 years young!!! My mom's 78 and 92lbs soaking wet and climbed up on the ladder to make sure the roofers put her new one on correctly since her and my dad built their house. Nothing like those moments. Great vid Cody, thanks.

  • Beautiful vid man. This is the sort of thing every child should be able to experience......having a good and loving grandad. Interesting to see at present there is 3 douche bags that down rated this, they probably never had what you have.

  • It's awesome working with other people when you both know what you're doing. You don't have to talk much, things just get done. It's awesome to see it in action too.

  • "No, I just wanna throw dirt balls at the camera." Lol!

  • Heartwarming!

  • It may be a good video, but I can't hang with a long intro, . . .

  • @phillipgaley Seriously, you haven't taken a moment to make your own video ever? And you make a negative response? Especially while he's making a family video? I'm speechless. Go somewhere else.

  • Great to see. I can't wait to see this cabin when you put it together on site.

  • Both of my granddads died before I knew them. I know you charish these times with yours. Geart vid.

  • Nice......

  • What a great video Cody. I hadn't seen chainsaw milling before.

How Many different rigs did you use to cut the lumber? Are you worried about the lumber twisting as it dries?

  • Very cool setup with the old ladder. What do you do with your scraps, firewood? Your grandfather seems like quite the guy. It's always special to work with someone like your grandfather.

  • @shotgunjoel i'll burn all the scraps for firewood

  • what a great day, thanks for sharing, I dig the ladder trick with saw

  • When I started watching this video (and still) I got a tear in my eye. Yeah, I said it. I lost my grandfather over 18years ago. And I truly wish I would have had more time to spend with him. Heck, I haven't seen my mother or father since 1997 and they are still alive. Well, I'm not sure about my father.

    Anyhow, good video Cody.

I'll end it with everyone should cherish every moment they are able to spend with friends, family and live life to the fullest. You never know how long it will last.

  • @revisualize thank you for reminding me

  • AWESOME!

  • Awesome Cody! So great to see you and your Grandad working together. I am sure are many great memories together! Cherish every moment together and thanks for the great videos. :)

  • Great to see you having fun w/ family. Can't wait to see the site build.
