one thing i can say, if you go to some of these african countries, one thing they don't mess around with is doing their hair. Although there are plenty of braiders there and doing your hair is extremely cheap.

Braiding is the BEST way to do a African or Black childs (and adults) hair period b/c curling and pressing only damages your hair while when braiding your hair grows and is easily manageable[=
