I want to start this off by saying by far I'm no tree hugging hippie but the guy saying put a dpf and a cat is stupid bout that more air you can get in to the motor and out out of the motor makes horse power also he is right about one thing in the diesel world guys think it's cool to blow smoke but when racing or pulling it's wasted fuel and energy I just want youtube know I'm not siding with this person just setting facts
you should fix the overfuelling problem as it will cause expensive damage to the exhaust valves, fuel pump and injectors, DPF if fitted, CAT and turbo. Excess diesel not used during combustion will exit the cylinder and burn in the manifold, turbo, CAT, DPF etc. Adjust so all the diesel injected is used and you will get a lot more power without smoke. SMOKE=BROKE on a diesel, people confuse smoke and noise with power. It shows a badly tuned inefficient engine, or one with a serious fault...
@urbex2007 and if you run a dpf, and cat. Your fuel mileage will go to hell, and youll lose power. A good family friend on mine bought a brand new 2011 powerstroke 6.7 with all that crap on it. he was getting 8 mpg pulling his race trailer. Took it all off and put a 4 inch turbo back exhaust (CAT delete) and it went up to 15 mpg pulling and 18 without anything on.
@urbex2007 not entirely true sir while smoke is a sign that there is too much fuel you have to realize that all this is happening before the turbo spools, my point is most of the smoke will clear up when turbo starts forcing more air and then you will get a better burn, if he was putting in just enough fuel for a perfect burn before the turbo builds then he would be underfueling and losing power when the turbo kicked in
