Owls are by far quite dumb birds, but, they make up for it in hunting skill. They're like a shark, They kill very, very well. Everything about an owl is made to stealthily creep onto it's prey and crush it with their enormous talons. :)
'Are they disoriented by being out in the daytime?' Probably not, though they may bedisoriented by being in a book store, with colours, smells and sounds that they have never encountered before. Plus I don't think owls are used to being in enclosed spaces.
To the commenters below: these owls had been brought to the Hereford Owl Rescue. As I recall, they had sustained serious injuries, and were unable to survive on their own in the wild; as a consequence of their prolonged stay at the facility, they had become quite tame. Thus they were employed as educational owls, and they both very much loved their handlers.
I don't believe owning an owl is encouraged anywhere.

How are you able to own an owl? I have always loved them and I have the land to own an owl but i just don't know where to find them.
