I have a friend who served a decade long tour as Spec Ops in the Army in Iraq, he is now homeless and has lost nearly everything except for his faith and his friends. I couldn't be prouder to know him.
Most homeless people receive social security disability, welfare or other benefits. So why don't they rent a room somewhere. Be a roommate? SSDI is stable monthly income! Am I missing something here?
@avantipensatore as a homeless male living in Eugene, Oregon please allow me to correct your assumption here, you are corrcect in one thing, a many of the homeless do recieve disability checks, but not most. as to why they do not rent a room, it goes something like this. at least here in Eugene, if you have a felony conviction, or poor credit, your chances of finding an affordable room will be slim at best. Many of the homeless have either one or the other.

Here in America we used to care about each other, now we care only for ourselves. Don't judge a book by its cover, some of the kindest people I've ever known were homeless and most I know that have homes and jobs are JERKS, Go Figure?
People who claim they are christians if you watch how many of them act; and if you are in a bind and you approach these people for help' you will find out the majority of them are not christians. They are christians that have an agenda

any one can get old unaforms, show me the papers. living in colo spgs we had 500 or more living on our streets .They had to do something. They truned an old hotel in to a homeless shelter. found jobs and got them off the streets.what did your city do?

@4449ironhorse You were good soldiers that followed your orders, we are horrible citizens to treat you Vets with such dis-respect, I was a Firefighter for uncle sam but when I got injured I was a "Useless Eater" as Adolph Hitler called us "the disabled", These Government & Cities alike see us as less then Human but at least we are not Monsters like them, I was once a Proud American but with the way we treat the poor I am ashamed to be American, no wonder the whole world hates us. whats also sad is maybe not these people but alot of our homeless are veterans. this is how we reward our heroes huh? bad enough their homeless but now were taking their tents and sleeping bags. come on. you people who did this make me sick. if my boss told me to do this i would probally quit. anybody with a heart would do the same. so these people got no excuse and the cops who are supposed to protect and SERVE (they seem to forget that part) shame on you. @1seouljah we reward our Heroes with abuse and neglect, I'm a disabled first responder Fireman with a Traumatic Brain Injury and once you are not of any use they just sweep you out with the trash. 11 years of firefighting gets you $674 a month for 100% Disability here in Oregon, I'm lucky some get no income & sleep in the same dumpsters they dine out of , but our USA can blow money all over the world but neglect our fallen Heroes at home, I'm no longer a proud American in fact I'm ashamed to be.

I was pretty ticked when I heard about this. How about we solve the homeless problem, not try to hide it. I wish people living in Briargate and the "nice" parts of town would understand these peoples situation.

Actually Jess. Colorado Springs passed an ILLEGAL ordnance banning camping, which will be overturned by the courts. Boulder's will be first.
The raids these people are describing are confirmed by the police and changes to policy were made in accordance.
All 3 got off the streets on their own and I've seen Stan's DD214 discharge papers and VA card.
