happy animals taste better because they are less stressed (well i heard this from a farmer) so that the meat is less hard and something else to do with the blood xD
Dude I totally thought about that too! They'd be all painted black and white, they'd all have spiked collars and listen to Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal etc. :D Then they'd grow up like the size of a rhine then USA would by them from me as warfare machines and I'd get rich <3
Pfft.. dunno I don't feel sorry for an animal that doesn't know anything about life outside the farm.. And I don't feel sorry for that animal to be killed and fed to people. Meat is delicious. If u don't like it don't eat it. Don't ban it. Too many things are already banned.
I think if you give them a lot of freedom they just act like ... well, pigs ... so I'm sure they are easier to "harvest" if the environment is controlled -- but I'm glad my bacon got a groove on before things got serious!
How about we stop raising pigs - just to kill them - instead of finding ways to make their lives more enjoyable - before we kill them. Come on people. We don't need to eat pigs.
Imagine how many bigfarmers would loose their jobs.. And since u can't just ban one type of meat= Imagine how many people would loose their jobs if all meat was banned! And since meat is so delicious... It just won't happen. Not while I'm alive :D
Pigs don't end up being pets!, if thats what you fucking think, PIGS ARE FOOD you doosh. His comment didn't make much sense. Whoever thumbs uped that guy is an idiot.
but, people demand, and livestock has always been around for food and protein. and I know that I love steak, but I am definitely becoming much more conscious of what is at my table. fuck, tough world. I feel selfish :(
Job loss is a pretty weak argument for avoiding a meatless society. First considering that 98% of meat consumed comes from factory livestock production plants, the people who run them are anything but "farmers."
The argument though is a strawman, much like the one I use on my Vegan friend... *sad eyes* "But what will happen to the cows if no one eats meat?! They'll go extinct! It's not like we can release them to the wild."
We don't technically need to eat any animal flesh not just pig flesh. However there are areas of the world where vegan, or even vegetarian options are not available. So research on how to raise animal for use in consumption is still required.
What I wish is for people to eat sensible portions not for the animals sake, but for their own health. A side effect would be healthier humans, and a decrease demand.
agreed - although I would also like for people (who are in an economic position to do so) to also consider eating less/none for the sake of the animal.
re: It may...indeed happen while you are alive. [talking about ending meat consumption]
I believe it will happen sooner than most people think. With climate change, worldwide hunger growing with worsening food & energy crisises, & biofuels further using up livestock feed stores, I think the price of meat will eventually become so expensive that very few people will be able to afford it on a daily basis. It will eventually be a luxury few can afford.
I agree. We are entering serious change here on this planet. It's a good time to buy organic seeds and practice how to grow food. We cannot depend on any of the systems that we have become use to. We are going to need to be resourceful and creative in the future in meeting our needs. It's a huge shift for mankind but not all bad. : )
Not at all surprising. Similar research has shown cows give more milk when provided certain music, classical & country, but give less milk when exposed to more raucous music, such as rock & rap. Regardless, iving weanlings a playtime is an improvement in their otherwise miserable lives as penned-up livestock. I hope it is a trend that catches on among farmers, because happier livestock is not only more humane, but also healthier livestock (for consumption).

Like all animals they deserve to be free and enjoy life. bahhh
i agree with hycran "What I wish is for people to eat sensible portions not for the animals sake, but for their own health."
Even though im a vegan, i cant expect people just change so easy and fast. So i guess that would be the most easy solution.

how about just giving them a free range to run around, enjoy a "natural" life until getting slaughtered.
