  • So the guy on the right left only because he kicked a sword ?? (I'm sorry I don't really know how these competitions work ! =S) Thats too bad, because I guess like in every kinds of dancing there are very few boys...?

  • @BritishItalian yea, he knew he got disqualified, so in a championship like this, there really was no point in wasting energy. True, women dominate most forms of dance, but highland dancing actually is a male form of dance... only in the past 100 years have women been allowed to highland dance. crazy right?!

  • good stuff, dont you get calf strains or cramps from this?

  • Having danced this dance - about 35 or so years ago, it brought back fond memories. You did a beautiful job! It made me want to get back on my feet and try all over again!

Good luck in your dancing career - or hobby.

  • Those hilts are INTENSE!!!

  • OMG how can you do extendeds so well??? they are amazing!! WOW!

  • Wow, it had to take many hours of hard work to make it look so perfect and effortless.

    Great dancing!

  • God almighty! I now understand why men don't do that dabce!

  • Hi, How do you know when your ready for competitions? I started nearly a year ago and so far i know Fling, Swords, Sean Tribuas, Reel, Lilt and Flora?

Is that above average for someone who started less than a year ago or is it quite bad?

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely. My heart swells.

    Alba Gu Brath!

  • man I wish I could do that, it looks super tough, like there's no superflous movement at all. I bet it takes lots of conditioning

  • looks like hard..i've danced hungarian/serbian/roman folk for 10 years and we have similar steps on some dances.I like the way you dance.:)

    Have a good night!

    E.

  • Awesome dancing.Keep on dancing your heart out and don't worry about the steps and feel the music.I whould like to learn how dance like that but I just don't see there anyone in my town that knows how or what I talking about when I talking about Highland Dancing. 5 *s

  • AMAZING! I am beginner dancer from Czech republic. I am pure amateur, i am doing it only for my pleasure and I can´t imagine myself to dance like that one day... Beautiful. You´re very talented!

  • you're a very good dancer, just try to stay on your heels maybe sometimes...

I really like your high cuts...

    a pleasure to watch...

  • THanks! My high cuts are usually horrible, I think I just got lucky at this comp :) If by on your heels, you mean balls of the feet, then yes, I definitely need to stop dropping my heels...bad habit :)

  • can u do the barracks? i m just barely learning and its really confusing.

  • whoa, your very good, i like your elevation

  • omg fabulous !

im a young dancer, going into premeir soon ,

im so scared ! but you make it look SO easy !

  • You were amazing!

  • Some of the best form I have ever seen as well as you appear to embody the soul of the dance itself.

You might like the Wicked Tinkers....excellent group.

  • Very nice dancing!

  • Awesome dancing!!!

  • yea that happens...especially when everyone has/had royal blue kilts :)thanks for watching!

  • o because u look identicle to a girl in my dance school!

  • heyy r u from queppele in saskatchewan? (srry for the spelling) cuz i think i might no u....do u have a green kilt now?

  • no sorry, I'm a dancer/teacher from san jose, CA

  • My grandparents trained me using a cutlass and claymore so I understand why everyone was thrown off by the use of basket swords. I've been dancing since I started walking and you could put me to shame. You're that good.

  • Great video. I got really enchantend by your dance. Congratulations!

  • Lovely halfpoints and turn out! But isn't it rude for the dancer beside you to walk off if he DQed himself?

  • Thanks! Sometimes it's distracting when they walk off, but the stage was big enough where he could walk far behind my sword. This was a championship so after he kicked the sword, he had no chance of redeeming it so perhaps he wanted to save his energy. At the end of the 3rd step I kicked mine as well, but I wanted to finish for my own self accomplishment. I guess it's different for all dancers and what their teachers have told them to do. Thanks for the comment!

  • Wonderful work, even if you were DQ-ed. You know where your flaws are which is a step of improvement, though with your talent, there isn't much need for improvement. I've loved watching the dance, but could never participate (besides a guy in a dress just sounds disturbing)

  • You dance very nicely. How did you do in the competition ? My daughter is a Highland dancer as well.

  • Thanks! At the end of the third step I kicked my sword, so I was DQ-ed. The organizers chose for us to use basket hilt swords which really threw all of us off. I had a TON of great dancers in my class that day so I didn't place, but was very happy with how I danced. What level is your daughter and where does she dance? I'm a BATD teacher in northern cali

  • She dances with the pipeband I'm in and isn't competitive (sadly). The competiotions are so far away for us anyway. We only just had someone move into our area who is certified to teach for competition. Were in Oregon near Eugene.
