If gays marry, why can't the Mormons have multiple wives? Why can't one marry a pet? Why can't children marry? Why can't one marry an object or land which one "loves"? Sex is complicated, marriage is more complicated. A step in this direction challenges established sexual convention, so the examples above follow logic to its conclusion.

You can't marry a pet or object because they can't give consent.
As for people having multiple legal partners, why should I care? It doesn't harm me.

They don't need to get married. Marriage is a legal contract more between the couples and the State more so than between the couple. Why would anybody want to have the government get involved in their domestic partnership? Just have a lawyer draft up a domestic partnership contract, sign it, make copies, and file them away if you need a prenupt. See YT video: ZaO8nmC4Lxw

These contracts are vastly inferior to the right instantly provided by marriage.

The religious worry more about homosexuality than homosexuals do, its just weird how obsessed they are over other peoples sexuality when they should just mind their own business.

This was a protest to Prop 8. These two got married before the vote went through. There are some attempts to invalidate any previous gay marriage. I do really hope Prop 8 gets overturned by the State Supreme Court.
