Those buttons are Innovation, as the square ones were Montgomery but were not ADA compliant which means someone in a wheelchair could not reach them as at 21 seconds there is a sign says ask for assistance if you cant reach 48" but they fixed that by adding innovation buttons.
I work at Macy's Downtown Store in St. Louis - it's in the historical Railway Exchange building - once the largest office building in the world and probably one of the 1st buildings with elevators (and escalators) - there are about 24 passenger elevators and 2 big freight elevators - I think I remember when I was a kid - some of them had elevator operators in them. Also, the escalators are very original.
hey Alex, I just read on wikipeadia that this store restly closed. Do you know what its going to be next is another store going to buy the building? Or is it going to be torn down?
patrick, Macerich (the mall's owner) was very vague in a recent article in the Dallas paper about their future plans. No word on another dept. store or multi-tenant re-use, it didn't sound like they'd tear it down, but again, they weren't specific. Hard to believe after 35 years, the building isn't an operating dept. store any longer. I would hate to see the store get torn down...there aren't many Sanger's left with the arch/mosaic facades.
the macys elevator at ross park mall used to be by the furniter gallery on the 3rd floor now its the girls section the furniter is now in a seprite building
Hey, I have an announcement to make regarding this store! According to the Dallas Morning News and Wikipedia, Macy's is closing 9 stores sometime in early 2008, and this Retro 70's Macy's is one of them! I am so glad you got a video of this elevator!
Wait, wait. Was this person thinking of the old Prestonwood Town Center mall just a few miles north? That mall is gone and replaced with open-air retail.
I was never there why dont you visit monroville mall someday if you do tell me when your going maby I can meet you there its in monroville pennsyvania
it would be expensive but no offence but I was talking to Matt since he has been to alot of malls out of state and that he might want to see monroville mall but if you ever do go to Pennsyvania then stop by monroville mall but dont buy an exspencive plane ticket just to come to a mall
I might go to vally view mall someday and stonebair mall is stonebair mall the one with AMC theaters? My cousins live in Texas not Dallas El Paso it would be funny if I saw you there
Heh heh...another retro 70s Foley's (now Neighborhood Macy's) - I think it's weird that this store stayed open even though there's a REAL, New York-style Macy's next door! (BTW all the 70s-looking Foley's stores in DFW were Sanger-Harris stores up until 1987.)
P.S. Please don't threaten me with this comment like in the Collin Creek video.
