  • I remember growing up with my grandparents watching this on the USA network... Bring back memories...

  • When this show was aired on CBS daytime, school lunch menu courtesy of the Glendora Distict: Hamburger-Cheese Slice, Lettuce,_Pickle_&_Tomato, Bush's BBQ Beans, Chilled Fruit Cup, Trail Mix.

  • The look on his face when he picks the 'pig" category is funny because he's a cop!

  • The show was aired Wednesday, September 22, 1982.

  • The set is a lot darker than it was later.

  • They should've called it THE NEW $25,000 PYRAMID right away.

  • I think it's kind of funny that the male contestant described "coward" as "somebody who dodges bullets". Well, I must be a coward, too! lol

  • @DannyBkyn: Yeah, I thought that was kind of a stupid clue myself... lol. ;-)

  • @DannyBkyn

Personally, I would use "somebody who dodges bullets" as a clue for "smart" not "coward."

  • For $25,000, 60 Seconds on the Clock Please, Here is your First Subject and... GO!

  • Dick's fake laugh at the beginning must have been his way of energizing himself.

  • The endgame trilons didn't turn white until mid-1983. The 7-11 debuted that spring as well.

  • 1982 in TV saw these game shows:

    - Child's Play w/ Bill Cullen (which incidentally aired after a version of Pyramid he once hosted)

    - The revival of Tattletales w/ Bert Convy

    - P+ and Blockbusters were cancelled in 1982

    - 1982 saw shows such as Silver Spoons, Family Ties, Cheers, Newhart, Fame, Knight Rider, Remington Steele, TJ Hooker, and Capitol making their debuts.

  • This was before they included "New" in the title. This one is around the first week or two.

  • Dick always came out laughing....probably to pump hismsel up.

  • Does anybody have anymore of The $25,000 Pyramid from September 1982? Thanks. I love the pyramid game show.

  • I never knew that the category cards in the main game were blue.

  • Was this the premiere episode of The $25,000 Pyramid

  • Any version of Pyramid is pure gold.

  • They have a different bell! Not that it matters much, but what's up with that?

  • Does anyone have the first $25,000 winner?

  • I do...I believe that the $25,000 wasn't won until sometime around the fourth week of shows

  • gameshowluvr86, you should've mentioned something about $100,000 Pyramid in 1985.

  • I would like to know how much money did the previous episode's champion win on the previous episode and is it true that this is a Thursday episode of the debut week of the $25K Pyramid?

  • they should have called it "NEW" from the beginning!

  • I know, right?

  • Did you happen to record ones from the 80s marathon last month? Thanks to "Ike" I lost my power during the Card Sharks part of the marathon, and had to miss 25k

  • I actually taped this in 2000. :) The '80s marathon didn't show this one, unfortunately.

  • That, and Michael's "Thriller" album from '82. (?)

  • It's interesting to note in this first week of 80s daytime shows the following things:

    1) Black-"Jeopardy!" mics.

    2) There was a nice wideshot of the set during the title card.

    3) The bells from the New York City episodes are still there (they were there for the first 4 weeks of shows).

    4) The frontgame trilons are blue (they were changed to white the following week).

    5) They looked like they were filming in a cave in the earlier eps. (check out how dark it is!).
