  • I wonder of a Yugo M48 would be just as capable? Fantastic shooting!! Love to see what these old, fine crafted rifles are able to do.

  • What scope mounts are on it? I have a GEW 98, spandau with trench magazine all imperial marking and a WWI bring back but some one put a redfield sight on it but incorrectly...I would appreciate if you could tell me what mounts, model etc you have so I canget the same...

    bullboo1@yahoo.com

  • I'm sure that would go to target even without a scope.

  • did you shoot through a road?

  • Awesome.

  • i want to see more people doing this kind of thing with cameras going at 2000fps.

as good as the video was, it would be awesome to watch the bullet inch by inch going towards the plate and ricochetting off.

i want to move to america now and buy guns and do it myself. fuck gun laws here in britain.

  • Nice shooting and nice rifle! Greetings from Germany.... ;-)

  • Never mess with Bolt Action Rifles! Their old yes but you do not wanna face the Taliban with a Lee Enfield, Mosin Nagant or K98K Mauser beyond 600m cause you head would just go pop with 1 shot from that distance with such guns.

  • Germans know how to make rifle? What car to successful people drive where you live? It's not American....

  • hello I live in Brazil love guns too but here in Brazil is prohibited and all

  • You should have used a period scope, and then I would be impressed, new scope come on!

  • @escort72 The primary factor in not placing an era-correct scope on this is due to the fact that it had been pre-drilled, prior to me obtaining it, for modern scope mounts. I’m not interested really in punching additional holes in this rifle. I have chosen to leave it as-is.

  • @escort72 Yeah a Zeiss scope from Jena would be so much worse. The massive pre attack bombardment in US era doctrine is in part because they were out-ranged with all optics (and has inferior tanks etc.).

  • @escort72 Why? That makes no sense. A rifle that has 2" grouping @ 100 yards is going to have a grouping of 2" @ 100 yards, regardless of what you have on it. Optics don't decide how accurate a rifle is... the rifle does.

  • @GreatWhite85, That's necessarily not true. Yes, The rifle is most important on how tight the groups are going to be but, you have to take into account shooter error, right adjusments, windage, proper elevation, even if he's adjusting to the shot properly... Optics play a big role in how accurate a rifle is.

  • Man, that's some serious trajectory. Are you shooting 198 gn bullets ? I'd like to try with iron sights, I like the idea of the common man denying a vehicle or crossroad to a group of people at a thousand yards.

  • which Neck Turn Tool you used, to make the case? And why a 3006 case? is the load so powerful that you have to a thick brass side?

  • Sweet!!! F--k all trolls, this guy can shoot!!!

  • 28 feet drop? That calls for some high aiming.

  • Brilliant video, man. Good shooting.

  • Even tho there are lots of comments, which state that they are smarter/dumber/better/cooler than anyone else, I´d like to simply let the uploader mag30th know my respect for this entertaining and "accurate" video of the K98 Rifle.

I hope I might meet people like you, if I get to visit the United States of America some day. Stay Safe. Greetings from Germany.

  • Germans do know how to make a rifle.

  • @UStheFA so true. germans made some of the best weapons known to man to this day!!

  • That's some mighty fine ass shooting.

  • Private Pile, I think we've finally found something that you do well :D

  • @WannabeWeegee no need now lol : )

  • thanks for using german products! ;)

  • that last one sounded like 10 lul

  • that rifle reminds me about Maj.Erwin Konig in the movie Enemy at the gates, that gun really can take out an enemy in the far distance. i really love that gun forever.

  • where did you get the scope mounts???

  • i even like the G98 more sorry for kar98 lovers)

  • mag Have you shot the new SMK 200 gr in 8mm ??? They show it online, it's not in my 50th anniversary reloading manual.

  • So Mag305th......Mosin Nagant or 98k?

  • is tht in arizona

  • Greetings!Nice video and weapon. Mauser is the same for me too (.30-06 cal.). Your weapon is in Gothic letters (Mod.98.)? Can you find out what is the number of weapon? Mine: 7403 f; barrel: XX 236 SS, I think that Erman production. Can you say something about the gun-barrel? (You swapped out the original, or has already been taken?) Unfortunately I can not try such a long distance (the Hungarian legislation does not permit, prohibit it.).The market worth of such a weapon?Greetings from Hungary!

  • Nice Shooting but I don't see any protective eyewear. There are much easier ways to get 8mm brass than whacking 30-06.

  • @Salad69Fingers "There are much easier ways to get 8mm brass than whacking 30-06."

True, but in my case I have well over 15,000 once fired spend casings on 30.06 brass in my garage, I use it whenever possible.

  • @Salad69Fingers i think someone should stop bitching at mag3oth

  • @urbman29 Not bitching at anyone. Constructive dialogue. Safety first my friend. Very surprised that anyone that shoots that well and goes to the trouble of forming their own brass would throw up a video for the world of inexperienced shooters to see of a guy blasting away without eye protection. Especially with a 60 year old mil surplus weapon. Very Poor example for others to follow. Please ask yourself why any video, any of them of a sanctioned shooting event everyone has eye protection.

  • @Salad69Fingers 1 of 3 Ur right, I should have worn eye protection. No excuses, but I do have somewhat of an explanation and I don’t feel it is rationalization either. I’ve been shooting for over 3 decades, an as poor as this may sound to some, I know through my experience I I’m more confident of some of the rifles and certain loads which have a greater tendency to have a catastrophic malfunction than others, if that makes sense, which I sure it’s not sufficient to some.

  • @mag30th 2 of 3 This particular rifle, with my handloads, I have zero worry of a failure of any kind, call it blind faith or just ignorance if you want, but the only harmful area of this rifle is out the barrel. Several of my other rifles I feel just as strongly about. On the other hand, my 91.30s, Carcanos, black powders, or anything with a muzzle brake, yes, the shooter would be silly to not wear eye protection.

  • 3 of 3 I was taught the basics of shooting as a kid by my father and uncles, my father and one uncle (marine corps) fought in the south pacific during WWII and my other uncle with the army in Europe. We never used eye protection is has become a bad habit I guess. Through experience of having my face cut up the hard way I’ve learned that lesson, although fortunately I haven’t injured either eye. Yes, I should have worn eye protection.

  • @Salad69Fingers 1 of 3 Your comment, “Please ask yourself why any video, any of them of a sanctioned shooting event everyone has eye protection?”

Simple, the answer is liability. The event sponsors cannot obtain insurance for any sanctioned event unless certain criterion is met. First of all, I’m sure as you know, the most likely scenario for an eye injury at an event is not from shooting your own weapon, but debris flying from the guys weapon standing next to you.

  • 2 of 3 When I’m alone in the Mojave desert shooting, the likelihood of another shooters weapon injuring me is zero.

Secondly, most gun accidents occur with certain people at the shooting range known as, “morons.” We have all seen them, people who try to hand loads the biggest bang out of their weapons, blowing primer out flat or out of their cartridges, just plain stupid people.

  • 3 of 3 I have more examples of shooting range morons than able to list here, but 99 percent of catastrophic failures come from the idiot shooting the gun, and/or the poor equipment he is using.

  • @mag30th 10-4 Mag. I understand completely and am sympathetic. Same as you. Never had a case failure or ..... Don't want to jinx it !!! You have tremendous exposure here all kinds, especially the new to our sport. Give em' your best shot !!

    Regards, Saladfingers

  • @Salad69Fingers Thank you sir!

  • Where'd you get the scope and for how much?

  • i wish i had somewhere i could go shooting like that. What a way to spend your weekend!

  • effing sweet good info to

  • watch?v=Pm_qF7q-iB0me shooting a 8mm mauser with some fail

  • hey mag30th,

Did the 8mm's leave good dents on the plate? Because I was just wondering if these rounds are capable of going through steel plates at certain yards.

  • @saltydog78 One inch plate at 900 yards no dent whatoever....

  • Man if we could get this guy within 900 yards of Bin Laden...

  • @WannabeWeegee BAHAHAH I just read that. Ahh funny you should say that..

  • @WannabeWeegee Bin Laden is dead!!

  • @VirgilHawkins1 he commented three months ago you dumb cunt

  • @Br0mane DUUUHHHH!!!

  • @VirgilHawkins1 Wait.... maybe mag30th KILLED BIN LADEN

  • @WannabeWeegee

Well I guess your wish has been granted.

  • @WannabeWeegee Haha we don't have to worry about that anymore :)

  • @WannabeWeegee

why of bin laden ? of the illuminaties like fucking obama yea

  • @XxKulturxX You're now on the CIA's list... why would you kill another innocent American anyway?

  • @WannabeWeegee no need for that anymore

  • @WannabeWeegee He already did bra bra

  • @WannabeWeegee It was HK416 also a german weapon . Your wish was kinda granted .

  • @WannabeWeegee Apparently they did!

  • @WannabeWeegee They did:)

  • @WannabeWeegee ben laden is dead XD too late

  • @WannabeWeegee no worries, we got him

  • @WannabeWeegee too late lol

  • @WannabeWeegee no need anymore ^^

  • Great rifle, definately proven itself time and time again...might have to pick up one of these after I get another SMLE.

  • Quite possibly the best rifle ever made yes? Great shot by the way!

  • What loads are you shooting to attain consistency?

  • Really cool.I have a 98 that has a venezulan crest on it.It was sporterd sometime back.who knows when. Its in a beautiful stock looks like after market trigger and glass beded. It is an awesome shooting gun.Very accurate.Sub moa at 100 yards.I cant wait to shoot it at longer ranges. What a great action!

  • I was about to post something, but you took the words out of my mouth at 1:47

  • I tought the bullet was 7.92x57mm? Which is like .311

  • @RB26DEST yes it is 7.92x57mm but they use to call it 8mm mauser cheers

  • @waffmann Oh, I see. Thanks for the info. I love that rifle by the way, it's my favorite rifle.

  • Love the ping noise

  • show us what your sight picture looks like, i want to see! that would be cool.

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry distance = (1/2) g t²

  • so are you aiming 28 feet above the target? or do you have the scope adjusted so that the crosshairs are on target? so if you next put the crosshairs on something 450 yards away the bullet would strike way high????

  • I have to say you are an amazing shot to even be able to hit that shit even a few times, it's not an easy task and you really seem to know what you are doing.

  • I've recently got into 900m shooting and have been unsure what rifle to get, now i know the No4/91-30/K98k can reach that far, the choice is obvious

  • Who has the most fiery recoil? The Kar98 or the Nagant?

  • Major Koenig would be proud

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry by using math

  • Nice shooting. I love these videos.

  • what is 1 yard in meters?

  • @jasper8325 a yard is around 0,9 meters, around 90Centimetres.

  • @gottmospahedengubbar ooh oke thx

  • did you have to do any work to the receiver to accept the x63 shell?

  • got to love the old school infantry rifles they shoot for ever

  • full metal jackett bullets??

  • @Gregory2062 yep the masuer 98 use's full metal jacket

  • what's the scope you have?

  • @RightWingCon81 my bad, saw it at the end there. I found a mauser with Nazi symbols in tact for 350, good price? Found a rechambered one to 30 06 what would be a good price for that?

  • @RightWingCon81

    take the nazi one.

  • @RightWingCon81 I paid less than $250 for a Nazi-marked one...

  • @zchris87v really? Where? Gun show or online?

  • @RightWingCon81 Gun show. It was at a table with some miscellaneous guns, but I just got lucky with that find.

  • you sir have a hell of an eye

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry the sniper triangulate the shot. take point A, the sniper, then put point B, the round flying at its peak elevation. then equate the distance of the shot taken and you will get the hit or miss. or omething like that

  • Get a tape measure. hang it from a tree 900 m away, and aim at the line that says 28' on it.

  • 8mm/06 kicks like a mule doesn't it.... I used to have an 8mm/06 but now its has a new douglas #8 contour barrel and chambered in 280 remington so the recoil is a thing of the past now

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry If you are pointing 28 feet above the target and you hit it. Your bullet drop is 28ft. Start out close, and move back 100 yards at a time so you can adjust your scope.

  • 3.5 seconds untill it hits the target at light speed *full metal jacket XD*

  • looks a bit like private paula :D

  • @dudeisalive you mean Leonard? Private Gomer Pyle.

  • @omgitsangers yes this guy from FMJ ;)

  • @dudeisalive DUUUDE thats exactly what i was thinkin!!! XD

  • @dudeisalive private leonard lawrence? from full metal jacket? :D

  • @bulletinyurass

i dont know the name but its that fat guy from full metal jacket..

    his nickname was paula

  • @dudeisalive what does that mean? I don't get it.

  • You are so lucky to have that kind of place to shoot.....

  • Nice shot.

  • what type of scope mount do u use?

  • Old gun Zmodern Scope lol reminded me of my Kar98

  • this is the best video i have seen in a while

    thanks dude

  • that thing sounds badass in the desert! lol "germans know how to make a rifle. BOOM......miss?"

  • Hell yeah! The germans know how to build rifles! I have a similar rig! Except I have a 10x super sniper scope on mine! My bolt is turned down I have a buhler wing safety and timeny match trigger! I have expensive IOR mounts and rings for it! Mine likes 195gr sst bullets loaded by hornady! Its an awesome general purpose rifle!

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry try hornady calculator

  • what kind of scope mount are you using to keep that Bushnell on the Mauser? Did you have to drill or tap?

  • very nice shooting, and you hit it on the first shot? or were other shots edited out?

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry

    simple physics

    two formulas

    t = d/v

gives you the time the bullet will be in the air

then you use the free falling object formula and plug in the numbers

    d = Vi*t + (1/2)a*t^2

where Vi is the initial velocity (zero because for calculation purposes the bullet will be travelling horizontally only.) and a is the acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s^2)

so plugging in all the numbers he gave you in the video

    d = 0*1.3 + (1/2)*9.81*1.3^2 = 8.29 m, or 27 feet.

  • The Germans DO know how to make a rifle <3 Sexay rifles at that.

  • ZE GERMANS know how to build a rifle.

  • Great video! Nice to see someone shooting that demonstrates skill, rather than just making allot of noise, and burning up ammo!

  • sick dude nice shootin

  • how far is 900yards in meters????

  • @Guranga93 850 meters. Each yard sizes 94cm.

  • @Guranga93 around 850

  • @Get1337 The bullet does break that sound barrier, what you're seeing is the vacuum of disturbed air created as the bullet passes through it. Air with more moisture makes this effect more evident.

  • German Power

  • amazing this and the mosin nagants are my two favors of all time

  • @MrDip02 yeah, that 8mm mauser round makes quite a cavity on a soft target, but I must say my heart belongs to the m1 garand. The US forces should have stuck with the gas piston instead of the dirty direct gas.

  • Man that is one mean sounding gun.

  • what is he saying at 1:48?

  • @mytoube2008 I know you know, what he said "Germans know how to make a Rifle".

  • What about your bolt action handle? Did you get that bent for compatibility to the scope?

  • whats up wit the no recoil

  • How did you get a scope mounted to your mauser? I recently purchased a Spanish 1916 Mauser chambered for .308 Win and it obviously has no scope mount. I'm going to try to hunt whitetail with it but I would like to add a scope. Any ideas?

  • such a beautiful gun...

  • Only one question... Where did you get the rifle? And is ammo readily available?

I'm looking to add a K98K to my modest collection...

  • Gravity pulls everything down at 32.2 ft per second squared ( 9.808175174 m/s^2) until terminal velocity is reached ... no matter how fast it is going ... the faster it gets to the the target the shorter the drop (I know everyone already knows this, but it bears re-examining).

  • For those of you really interested in Ballistics please read "Bullet Performance" by Philip Mannes ... The 98K was a killer even at extreme ranges but so are a lot of rifles ... A normally loaded 30.06 will kill at 1000 yds but the bullet drop and the sensitivity of the bullet to lateral forces at that range make it less than a perfect extreme range gun ... I am not sure about .223, all I know is that most .223 bullets start to tumble very early, at least at distances over 600 yds.

  • @DannyWilsonsLaundry There is computer software that determines everything involved.

  • @mag30th

Its called doing the math calculations yourself... Unless you do it the easy way with a computer

  • @mag30th what software do u use, and do u chronograph your loads to find your velocity?

  • @mag30th Isn't that what the tick marks are for on the cross hairs?

  • @mag30th wow, that's some nice software you have got there. I only shoot at 100meters max, so i guess it's not that important for me.

I'm going to shoot the 8x57mm mauser tomorrow, probably in for a nice bang!!

  • Wow that bullet wake is amazing. makes you wonder since such a delay of more than a second occurs, real snipers in the field need to observe their targets for long term behavior and tendencies before shooting otherwise if shooting someone from that range they move right after you shoot them and you would miss.

    Nice quality on the vid.

  • @mag30th good luck with that after EMP blast, mate.

    just saying...

  • mauser k98 is the best bolt gun ever,no doubt i have 8.

  • skill

  • nice shooting. so i can shoot 30-06 out of a mauser or is that only when you reload it yourself?

  • @heinswr There are commercial .30-06 ( .30 Springfield ) Mauser rifles. I had one that was assembled in the US from Belgian parts. You can also look into Parker Hale rifles which are Mauser actions and are common in .30-06. There are lots of custom sporters built using mil-spec 98K as a basis too.

  • @heinswr No matter who reloads anything you can ONLY shoot the caliber the rifle is chambered for ... Please don't go experimenting ... If it says 30.06 (stamped somewhere on the barrel normally) then it will shoot 30.06 ... There are a LOT of .30 caliber guns but they are NOT all 30.06 ... You can get many basic rifles chambered for your favorite round, the Win Mod 70 came in at least 10 different cartridge configurations and calibers .458 all the way down to .200 Swift ... BIG difference.

  • Bought a new hunting rifle with a Bushnell Legend 3-9x40 scope already mounted on it.It was from a large sporting goods chain and the guy new nothing about the gun or scope.I compare it to my Leupold VX-2,too bad Bushnell doesn't make the Legend anymore.Super clear optics.

  • What an excellent shot. However did you judge the elevating of the rifle to allow for the drop.

  • ww2 accuraty :)

  • @hansa944 this gun is very very accurate so with some training this is easily acheivable

  • camara?

  • That's cool you could see the smoke trail!

  • I am selling my Russian Captured German Mauser 98k rifle with some ammo from WWII/ Romanian ammo with a scope. If anyone is interested, send me a message!

  • Very good shooting if you consider that was the normal rifle of all german soldiers in WW2. An averge skilled shooter could not be able to get such a hit rate at that distance.

  • i can only imagine the amount of skill and practice that goes into hit a shot like that. props to you.

  • made in germany, you know the germans make good stuff

  • i mean they just look realy crap nd there not the best

  • You should be on top shot lol
